The Moon-Watching Tower, the minaret to the southeast of the mosque, was built in 1933. It is 33 meters high, hexagonal in plan, and has a hexagonal spire. The Great Mosque is located outside the north gate of the old city, it was built during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, and was once the residence of Heshuo Gejing.
