Who can refuse this old-money style resort hotel in Lugano?
I love Lugano on my Swiss itinerary, and I think a big part of the reason is that I stayed at the Grand Hotel Villa Castagnola, located by the lake. It was once a nobleman's mansion and was converted into a hotel in 1885, 136 years ago.
Lugano, in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland, is full of a completely different atmosphere from the German-speaking part, romantic and sophisticated, with bright sunshine all year round, and this hotel is even more Italian-style old-money style, with charming Mediterranean style everywhere, making the trip feel relaxed and full of vacation vibes!
🌸 The hotel is a delight to the eye, with exotic subtropical plants growing in the garden, modern sculptures scattered everywhere, and each room decorated with its own unique style, with exquisite traditional Chinese decorations in the rooms.
📍 The location is great, right on the shores of Lake Lugano, next to Monte Bre, where you can take a mountain train to the top of the mountain for a panoramic view, hike to the Ticino village of Bre, and take a bus to the old town of Lugano.
