Goryokaku Park
#celebratewithtrip
A lovely and huge park with beautiful landscape and a serene lake. Goryokaku park is famous for the iconic star-shaped fort constructed in 1855. Great big park in the shape of a five pointed star that is surrounded by a moat. It’s nice to take a walk around this park, fresh atmosphere, so many trees.

Goryokaku Park Cherry Blossoms
Hakodate, Hokkaido, boasts two must-see sights at least once in a lifetime. The first is the million-dollar night view from Mount Hakodate, and the second is undoubtedly Goryokaku. As the cherry blossoms in Hokkaido bloom the latest in all of Japan, visiting Hakodate from late April to mid-May allows one to enjoy the most representative cherry blossom viewing spot in Hokkaido and the million-dollar night view in one trip. Goryokaku, a source of pride for the people of Hakodate, is a fortress built in 1864 in the shape of a five-pointed star. It was constructed under the orders of the Edo shogunate and is the largest European-style fort in Japan. It was the site of the famous Battle of Hakodate, the last battle between the former shogunate army and the new Meiji government forces. Due to its historical value and uniqueness, it is now listed as one of Japan's Top 100 Castles and has been designated as a Special Historic Site and a Hokkaido Heritage, attesting to its significance. Goryokaku Park evolved from a fortress and the Imperial Japanese Army's training grounds into the park it is today. With about 1,600 cherry trees planted within, the blossoming cherry trees spread along the moat and inside the fortress, densely filling the star-shaped fort and presenting a captivating scene of a cherry blossom star fortress. The design of Goryokaku, originally intended to confuse invaders, offers a unique cherry blossom viewing experience akin to being in a cherry blossom maze, making it worth a special visit.

Fort Goryokaku in the Japanese Garden
#cherryblossom2024
Address: 44-2 Goryokakucho, Hakodate, Hokkaido 040-0001, Japan.
Highlights: Fort Goryokaku in Hakodate, Japan, is a historic fortress surrounded by a moat and star-shaped walls. As I entered the fortress grounds, I was transported back in time to the era of samurai and shoguns.
Exploring the fort, I marveled at its intricate architecture and learned about its significance in Japanese history. The moat and ramparts offered a glimpse into the past, reminding me of the fortress's strategic importance during the Edo period.
One of the highlights of my visit was walking along the cherry blossom-lined paths within the fortress grounds. During the spring season, the cherry blossoms bloom in abundance, creating a stunning display of pink and white flowers against the backdrop of the fortress walls.
Overall, my experience at Fort Goryokaku was both educational and enchanting.

Enjoying a Winter Wonderland: Visiting Mount Hakodate for the Night View during a Snowfall in Hakoda
Hakodate, a charming city located in the southern part of Hokkaido, is famous for its stunning night view from the top of Mount Hakodate. During the winter months, when the city is covered in a blanket of snow, the night view becomes even more magical. Here's a guide on how to enjoy the snowy night view from Mount Hakodate.
First, make sure to dress warmly. The temperature on Mount Hakodate can drop significantly during the winter, so it's important to wear layers, gloves, hats, and scarves to keep yourself warm. You'll also want to wear comfortable shoes with good traction, as the snow can make the ground slippery.
Once you're bundled up, head to the Mount Hakodate Ropeway Station. The ropeway will take you to the top of the mountain in just a few minutes. During the ride, you'll be able to see the snow-covered city below and the snow-capped mountains in the distance. The view is breathtaking and will give you a taste of what's to come.
Once you reach the top, you'll be greeted by a panoramic view of the city below. The snowfall will make the view even more stunning, with the lights of the city reflecting off the snow. The view is especially beautiful during a snowfall, when the snowflakes dance in the air and add an extra layer of magic to the already picturesque scene.
Take your time to explore the observation deck and take in the view. There are plenty of spots to take photos, so make sure to bring your camera. You can also warm up with a hot drink and a snack at the observation deck's cafe.
If you're feeling adventurous, you can take a short hike to the nearby summit observation deck. The hike is not too difficult, but make sure to be careful on the snowy path. The view from the summit observation deck is even more spectacular, with a 360-degree view of the city, the sea, and the mountains.
After you've had your fill of the view, head back down the ropeway and explore the city below. Hakodate is known for its delicious seafood and cozy bars and cafes, perfect for warming up after a chilly evening on the mountain.
In conclusion, visiting Mount Hakodate for the night view during a snowfall is a must-do activity for any winter visit to Hakodate. With its stunning panoramic view of the city and the snow-capped mountains, the Mount Hakodate Ropeway is a great way to take in the beauty of the winter wonderland that is Hakodate. So bundle up, grab your camera, and enjoy the magical snowy night view from the top of Mount Hakodate.
2018 was a wonderful time. That year, I went to many places and traveled to the country she had always longed for - Japan, with the her who used to be.
The first stop is Hokkaido. Winter in Hokkaido is the most charming, with the snowy land covered in white snowflakes. This is also the best time to soak in hot springs ♨️ while enjoying Hokkaido milk ice cream 🍦. Nothing is more enjoyable than this.
"Hakodate" is the southernmost city in Hokkaido. If you take the "Shinkansen" to Hokkaido, the first stop is Hakodate. Hakodate has an excellent harbor, a superior geographical location, and a long history. During the "Edo period" (the background of the Tokugawa family's story), it was already an important city. The most representative building in Hakodate is the "Goryokaku" that we are going to introduce now.
"The Five Ridges Fortress" was built in 1864 and is a Western-style defensive fortress castle 🏯. The great war between the Tokugawa shogunate and the Meiji Emperor took place here (you can refer to the story of "Rurouni Kenshin"). After more than 100 years of historical baptism, the castle still retains its original appearance. As long as you climb the "Five Ridges Fortress Tower", the entire castle is in sight, and there are also many related historical materials on the tower, which introduce the history of "The Five Ridges Fortress" in detail.

The cool air is mixed with the warmth of the setting sun. The quiet streets are matched with the few passengers waiting for the trams./
Say the bustling excitement? Isn't it a good time for Hakodate cherry blossoms to open? Isn't the hotel full? People are in the crowd? - It used to be barbecue here~~~
The pictures of other people's homes have finally become the reality in their own eyes. Although they don't look different, the inner feelings are different, and they are infected by the cheerful atmosphere. The thick family and friendship is wrapped in, even if the language does not understand, it is only the expression, you can feel the same: there is a sizzling barbecue, for the hungry people who enter the middle of the trip, it is a happy torment~
