Fremantle Prison Tour
Me and my girlfriends went on the ‘True Crime Tour’ at Fremantle prison and if you love true crime this is definitely something for you! there was only 4 of us as a group and we turned out to be the only ones who had booked the tour so we essentially got a private tour of our own! the lady who guided us was lovely and gave us all the juicy true crime we wanted. She also showed up the gallows where people used to be hung, this wasn’t part of our tour she just gave it to us as an extra as we were all so interested in the history of the prison! highly recommend and something different to do when in Perth.

trip to Fremantle prison
#newyearadventure
A World Heritage-listed site located in the port city of Fremantle, Western Australia, this prison operated from 1855 to 1991 and is now a tourist attraction and museum. We took a guided tour where we learnt about the history of the prison and the lives of the prisoners who were held there. Solitary confinement cells, the gallows, and the tunnel that was used for prisoner escapes were some of the highlights during the tour. A unique and educational experience for us

The family excursion to Fremantle Prison was a journey into the depths of Western Australia's convict past, filled with intrigue and sobering reflections. Stepping through the imposing gates, we were transported back in time to an era of harsh discipline and incarceration. Guided by knowledgeable staff, we explored the labyrinthine corridors and cellblocks, listening to tales of hardship and resilience from the days when the prison housed some of Australia's most notorious criminals. The children's curiosity was piqued as they learned about the daily lives of prisoners and the challenges they faced within these formidable walls. Standing in the shadow of the gallows and solitary confinement cells, we were reminded of the importance of justice, empathy, and the ongoing pursuit of a more equitable society.
Looking ahead, our next dream destination for family adventure is the mystical land of Peru, home to the legendary lost city of Machu Picchu. Envisioning a trek through the rugged Andes Mountains, we anticipate immersing ourselves in the breathtaking natural beauty and rich cultural heritage of this ancient Inca citadel. From hiking along mountain trails to marveling at the majestic ruins, Machu Picchu promises a journey of discovery and wonder that will captivate the imaginations of both young and old. With each step amidst the mist-shrouded peaks and terraced slopes, we hope to forge unforgettable memories and deepen our appreciation for the wonders of the world and the bonds of family travel.

Fremantle Prison
#australiatrip Tunnel tour is top notch.
We had a pretty interesting group, so that made it a bit more fun.
They could do with more shade here,
It'd be nice if they planted some trees, even just in large planter boxes.
The Cafe had a decent range of vegetarian food, which was surprising.
They even had better selection than most of the cafes in Fremantle.
Good work.
I'd highly recommend doing the tunnel tour, and do it now before all the water drys up!

Fremantle | The largest prison in Western Australia
The Fremantle Prison, built in the 1850’s by convicts from England, is the largest prison in Western Australia and the best preserved in the country. It is also a World Heritage site and runs various tours that range from 1-3 hours daily.
In the tour, visitors will be able to walk into the cells, visit the chapels, as well as hear the history and fascinating stories from the excellent guides. One of the cells even had sketches on the wall - done by one very artistic convict during his time in the prison.
Admission starts from AUD$22 per adult but also has concessions for family and groups over 10. It is a place worth visiting while in Fremantle or Perth ( only 30 minutes away by car) .
