Drift along the backwaters of the Alleppey River and enjoy the most charming natural scenery of Kerala. Enjoy the southern coast of Kerala, known as the Venice of the East, on a traditional wooden houseboat. We later went to the national park (Figure 2-3) and saw many monkeys. Figure 4-5 shows our accommodation in this place. We were on this boat, enjoying the beautiful scenery and feeling the cool breeze. We never expected that there was such a paradise-like place in India.

Within Kochi old town there are many beautiful paintings that can be found on the walls near the old market. The paintings represent the the area and show the musical and sporting passions which are also popular. They are quite easy to spot and make a nice place to take a photo at. The colours that are used vary with lots of different representations on offer and make the streets a very interesting place to stroll

The Fort House Hotel has a restaurant based in the old town of Kochi. It is situated on the river and they have a very nice selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. The grounds of the restaurant are very nice with lots of planes and water features and the staff are very helpful. There is free wifi in the restaurant too. The nice thing about the restaurant is the location as the river adds to the ambience of the dining experience The restaurant is open from 9-9 and the ambience is very relaxed. The restaurant is very cheap with each meal costing under 100 RMB so it is great value for money. The river alongside the restaurant makes this a special place to visit
