Kathakali … cultural art of Kerela

#GetDiscountsWithoutLuck I have previously posted a post recommending the city of Kochi (or Cochin), which also mentioned a local performance called Kathakali. In this post, I would like to present more pictures of the Kathakali performance. Kathakali is a type of classical dance in India, which is a culture of the state of Kerela, a southern state of India. The language in this area is not Hindi, but Malayalam. In this show, they demonstrate everything from how to apply makeup to the actors, which is very detailed. They also explain the facial expressions and gestures that the actors will use to communicate their feelings during the performance, because there is no speaking in this performance, only drummers and singers who sing along with the story. From what I heard them explain, most of the actors, including drummers and singers, have been practicing for at least 6 years before they can perform. Therefore, it is a local art and culture of Kerela that is worth seeing when visiting Kochi.
