It's the only city in China without traffic lights
The Yin-Yang Bagua map is all over the streets and alleys of this city
It's Tekes Bagua City
-
Tekes Bagua City is a radial circular city, with streets laid out like a magical maze, all roads and streets are connected. This layout reflects the connotation of the Book of Changes culture, and it is also a multi-ethnic city. In history, 22 ethnic groups including the Sais, Yuezhi, Wusun, Uighurs, Turks, Mongols, Kirgiz, Kazakhs, Uighurs, and Han have all thrived here, forming a diverse cultural blend. Because of its uniqueness, tourists from all over the country come here to see it. So how should you play in this city?
/
🏔Check-in spots:
🌟Tai Chi Altar: Located in the city center, there is an observation deck on the top, where you can overlook the street layout of Bagua City, with an excellent view
🌟Bagua City Night: A newly opened night market with snacks, performances, and various Xinjiang specialty foods. The performance starts at 9:30 pm
🌟Tai Chi Eye Ferris Wheel: You can take the Ferris wheel to overlook the whole view of Bagua City
-
⚠️Notes:
1⃣Friends with drones need to register and report at the police station across the street from the Tai Chi Altar when taking aerial photos in the city center at night, and can only fly under the Tai Chi Altar, and the Tai Chi Altar viewing platform is a no-fly zone
2⃣If you fly a drone too far in the city center, some directions will block the remote control signal and cause the drone to lose connection, so be careful
3⃣There are at least 30 drones at the Tai Chi Altar at night, so be careful when flying
4⃣If you're passing by this place, you can come for a visit, but if you're coming here specifically, there's no need. This place is only suitable for overnight stays, there are no fun attractions, if you have a drone, you can take aerial videos or photos and post them on your Moments, but if you don't have a drone, then it's too boring to come here, it feels like there's no difference from other cities except for the lack of traffic lights

Xinjiang Travel | Tekes Bagua City, a city without traffic lights.
Tekes, located in the Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture of Xinjiang, is a charming place. The city was built in 1937. Tekes County is in the shape of a Bagua, and is the only city in China built according to the Bagua layout of the Book of Changes, so it is also known as "Bagua City".
The entire city is centered around the Taiji Altar in the central square, with radial roads extending outward, forming a unique Bagua pattern. The city is small and is the only city without traffic lights. The roads are interlocking and interconnected. Standing high and overlooking, the layout of the entire city is clear at a glance, which is amazing.
The best time to travel to Tekes is summer (June to August) and autumn (September to October). The weather is warm in summer, and the grassland is green; the weather is cool in autumn, the leaves change color, the scenery is gorgeous, and it is also a good time for photography and autumn appreciation.

Tekes Bagua City Mansion Essence.
Beautiful Xinjiang Tekes Bagua City
From Tangbula Bailihua Provincial Highway 315 to Tekes, the highest visibility is less than ten meters, and it is really a bit of a panic.
About Bagua City, Ctrip has a very detailed introduction.
The drone can't take a full shot at its own limit, so friends can deal with it
Walking around the streets and alleys to sneak shots of local mansions (the key is not to go in) hehe.
The gray-green streets and green grass crisscross, and the whole city looks like a Bagua compass held by a Feng Shui master.
Bagua City has a strange:
There is not a traffic light on the city road.
According to the proposal of experts and scholars, since all roads are connected and connected, then for a county, there will be no traffic jams and blocked roads, and vehicles and pedestrians can reach their destinations in any direction.
The relevant department cancelled the traffic lights on the road in 1996, and Bagua City became a city without traffic lights.

Traditional Culture Painted on the Earth - Tekes Bagua City
No one can resist the night view of Tekes Bagua City! Especially the blue tones of the sunset and evening glow!!
The giant painting drawn by human hands on the earth, outlined by the lights, combined with the dazzling colors casually splashed by nature in the sky, makes the entire evening a mesmerizing moment.
Bagua City is laid out according to the Bagua of the I Ching. The entire county area has interconnected roads and streets, with a magical maze-like layout of 64 Bagua streets. The county town is circular and radial, and every intersection is a roundabout, with no traffic lights.
Of course, to see the overall layout, you still need to fly a drone. Even the Taiji Altar at the core of the Bagua and the Ferris wheel in the suburbs are not high enough to see the full view of the Bagua City streets.
Special praise must be given to the drone management and filing in Tekes, which is really very simple. You can directly fill out the form and fly at the on-site office booth of the police station in the core area of the county town. Compared to other places where someone had to run three times only to be told that personal applications are not accepted, it’s truly worlds apart.
The homestays in Tekes are all concentrated in the “Li Street”, which corresponds to the “Li Gua” in the Bagua. Li means beauty and attachment. The Li Gua has two and five yin lines, yin being virtual. Li also represents fire, whose characteristic is virtual, unable to generate itself, and must attach to other things to shine. As a street themed for homestays, it means passionate as fire, welcoming guests from all directions. It also implies mutual dependence and trust between hosts and guests.
Traveling here not only gives you an education in traditional culture, but the night market is also great, and the cost performance of the homestays here is indeed good, without the vicious competition seen in many other places.

Traveling in Xinjiang, you can't miss any of the Xinjiang delicacies!
Strolling through Yili, I took my friends to a scenic restaurant deep in the Kala Jun grasslands facing the snow-capped mountains, where we enjoyed beef hotpot and braised lamb ribs. Having such a warm hotpot on the grassland feels amazing.
After returning from the Kala Jun grasslands to the Teks Hexagram City, we had lamb ribs with pulled noodles and 'jiu wan san hang zi'. Two cars with ten people couldn't finish the lamb ribs with pulled noodles; the portions were too large!
On this trip, we basically introduced everyone to Xinjiang cuisine, and all my friends said it was delicious.
In fact, dining in Xinjiang with a group and splitting the bill, it's not expensive at all. About 100 yuan per day is enough, and that's already for eating very well.

The legendary Bagua City is actually the Tekes County town, here's a guide
Visit Yili before the peak season in June in Xinjiang, because I'm going to Kanas/Kuokesu/Kurding, so I stayed in Tekes, the closest county town to Kanas, for two nights (it's better to stay in the county town before the peak season, it seems that the camping site in Kanas is not open yet, and the campsite in Kurding I visited today is very impressive and I will write about it later). I only realized that Tekes is the legendary Bagua City when I booked the hotel.
🌟 Flying drones: First of all, you can fly drones in Bagua City, but you need to register at the police station at the central point of Bagua City first, and they gave me permission to fly at an altitude of 500 meters for two days. The whole process only takes 2 minutes, very efficient. Many people are aerial filming Bagua City here.
🌟 Bagua City attractions: In addition to the divination platform in the city center and various Xinjiang restaurants, there are actually two streets worth strolling.
1️⃣ Bagua City Night (recommended to go after 10 pm, it gets dark at 10 pm in Xinjiang now), located between Kan Street and Qian Street on the third ring road (p4-p12), it's very beautiful after the lights are on, and after 10:10 pm there are various performances, dancing, magic, stunts, etc., very interesting, and then there are various snacks and amusement projects. See pictures 4-12.
2️⃣ Li Street pedestrian street, you can go for a walk when you have nothing to do, there are post offices, souvenir shops, coffee shops, ice cream shops, restaurants, and guesthouses (p13-p18). The ice cream there is quite good.
Tekes (Bagua City) is less than a 2-hour drive from Yining, a half-hour drive from Kanas, and just over an hour and a half drive from Kurding. Kanas, Kuokesu, and Kurding are all too beautiful, the natural scenery is as good as Switzerland, and it's definitely worth visiting. As Xinjiang tourism is increasingly discovered by everyone, it will surely become more and more popular.

Dance of the Sky: The Hot Air Balloon Journey in Tekes Gossip City
In the vast land of Xinjiang, there lies a place shrouded in mystery, known as the famous Tekes Gossip City. Inspired by Taoist culture and planned according to the Bagua pattern, this city not only exhibits a unique charm on the ground but also presents a different kind of elegance from the air. Riding in a hot air balloon is one of the best ways to experience the allure of this city.
At dawn, as the first rays of sunlight penetrate the mist, I arrived at the Tekes hot air balloon launch site. Here, the colorful hot air balloons lay quietly on the grass like giant flowers, waiting for their passengers and the journey ahead. As the staff busily prepare, the balloons gradually inflate, awakening from slumber, becoming full and lively.
Stepping into the basket, my heart is filled with anticipation and a touch of nervousness. With the roar of the flame thrower, the hot air balloon slowly rises, the land beneath my feet gradually recedes, and the full view of Tekes Gossip City unfolds before my eyes. At this moment, I feel like an aerial dancer, moving freely and gracefully across the blue sky stage to the rhythm of the wind.
As we gain altitude, the view becomes even more expansive. Overlooking Tekes Gossip City, one can clearly see the city's roads and buildings laid out in the shape of the Bagua, a testament to the wisdom of the ancients and the dedication of the city planners. At the city's center is the Taiji Square, which from above looks like a Taiji diagram in the universe, surrounded by eight streets, resembling the eight lines of the Bagua, dividing the city into a well-ordered pattern.
The hot air balloon drifts slowly in the sky, and I enjoy this tranquility and freedom. The wind gently brushes my face, carrying the freshness of the grasslands and the chill from distant snow-capped mountains. The sun climbs higher, its warmth and comfort shining down on me. At such heights, all worries seem to be left below the clouds, leaving only the peace of the soul and the appreciation of beautiful things.
During the flight, the hot air balloon occasionally passes through clouds, sometimes clearly revealing the details of the ground, and sometimes shrouded in mist, as if entering another dreamy world. This feeling of moving between reality and dreams is unforgettable.
After about an hour, the hot air balloon begins to descend. As it slowly approaches the ground, my heartbeat accelerates. After a gentle landing, my companions and I are warmly guided out of the basket by the staff, concluding this unforgettable aerial journey.
The hot air balloon trip in Tekes Gossip City not only allowed me to experience the thrill of flying but also let me appreciate the city's wonderful layout and magnificent scenery from a new perspective. It was a feast for both the mind and the eyes, a true journey to touch the sky, leaving an indelible memory.

Tekes Gossip Town | A mysterious town without traffic lights!
🍀 Tekes County in Xinjiang is famous for its Bagua layout. In 1996, the relevant departments removed the traffic lights🚥 from the roads, and since then Bagua City has become a city without traffic lights.
🍁This is a city like a maze:
The entire county town is laid out in a Bagua formation, with the Bagua Culture Square at the center, radiating out eight main streets - "Qian, Kan, Gen, Zhen, Xun, Li, Kun, Dui", representing different directions. The street lamp poles and the colors of the pavement bricks on each street are also different. These 8 streets are like a magical maze, with every road interconnected and every street linked.
🌻Ticket Prices:
Taiji Altar: 20💰
Ferris Wheel: 100💰
Classic Hot Air Balloon Tour: Adults 980💰, Children 780💰
🚗Transportation:
The scenic spots within the city are quite scattered, requiring self-driving or taking a taxi. It is not recommended to come here without a car or a drone (flying a drone✈️ requires reporting).
Staying overnight in Tekes, the guesthouse is just off the street, with well-maintained flowers and plants, a comfortable environment, and very characteristic walls off the street. For those who hustle every day between skyscrapers, escaping the noisy city, you can enjoy a moment of tranquility here.

A city without traffic lights | The Gossip City of Tekes
| The Gossip City of Tekes. Tekes County, a shining pearl of Xinjiang, is famous all over the world for its unique Bagua layout. Since 1996, the roads here have been free from the constraints of traffic lights, making the Bagua City a unique city without traffic lights. Legend has it that the creator of this Bagua City was Qiu Chuji, one of the Seven True Taoists of the Southern Song Dynasty. In those years, Qiu Chuji, the immortal of Changchun, was invited by Genghis Khan to travel westward. Passing through the Tekes River Valley, he was moved by the beauty of the land's mountains and rivers, and thus constructed the city in the shape of the Bagua.
The Bagua City is radially circular in shape, with a street layout that is intricate and complex like a maze, yet every road is interconnected, and every street is linked, resembling a vivid painting. In this city, you can not only experience the rich folk customs but also appreciate the profound historical culture and the beautiful natural scenery. Every corner, every scene, is full of stories and charm, waiting for you to discover and experience.

Tekes County, Yili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, the city of Bagua
I have always wanted to visit the Bagua City of Tekes to see the only city in China, and perhaps the world, without traffic lights. By ascending the octagonal building 'Taiji Altar', one can see the garden at the center of the city, with 8 streets radiating outward and intersecting with 4 ring roads; a drone can overlook the entire city in the shape of Bagua. Afterwards, we also strolled down the streets to experience the ethnic style once again.

The beauty of Xinjiang doesn't need any filters at all
I say: If I were to travel alone in this city, I would definitely rely entirely on public transportation, trains, subways, buses... so these beautiful scenes would be out of my reach.🌹
I've been on the way in Yili for four days, starting from a chance encounter at a youth hostel.
Youth hostels are like blind box machines, where travelers stay for a short time, have different destinations, and are extremely fate-oriented. Some people pass by you, some people intersect briefly, some people can travel together...
When I first checked into the youth hostel in Yining, a young lady left as soon as I arrived, and we only met briefly. After entering the door, I learned from other roommates that this sister, with a computer, does e-commerce on her own, and travels around the world... I chased out the door, only 5 minutes apart, I couldn't see her figure anymore, and I couldn't hear her story.
The day before leaving Urumqi, a tour guide brother, when I was chatting, said that I wanted to go to Kanas and Hemu, he said he happened to be taking a family there, but unfortunately they were chartering a car, if it was a carpool, he could take me. Haha actually I just heard that the scenery there is very beautiful, it was also a whim, if I could carpool, I should go, but in the end I still followed the original plan and came to Yining.
It's also thanks to not being able to go, I met this big group of friends who were traveling together in Yining, not early or late, the next day they were preparing to drive around Yining. Three-day itinerary, ethereal snow mountains, endless grasslands, cattle and sheep all over the mountains, winding mountain roads... If I hadn't met these friends, I probably wouldn't have seen these scenes.
Written in Yining, Xinjiang in October.

Tekes Gossip City | Fortunately, I didn't miss you
Tekes, the most perfect gossip city in the world, the only place in China without traffic lights.
As a transit city, many people say that Gossip City is not necessary to stay.
But when we arrived in Tekes, we suddenly fell in love with his fireworks, and felt fortunate that we didn't miss it.
The night of Tekes's Gossip City is lively and cheerful, beautiful young men and women in ethnic costumes, dancing ethnic dances and interacting with everyone, it's extraordinarily lively, I love this wonderful night.
The next day, I walked around casually and found that it was really good here, the roads were clean and quiet, and the streets were full of very characteristic guesthouses and small shops.
I walked to a coffee shop off the street and stopped to enjoy this slow time. I had a cup of lavender coffee that I could only drink in Xinjiang, which I still can't forget.
I love the scenery here, and I love the humanities here.
In here, you can clearly feel the pulse of gossip becoming history.

Turks is known as the Eight Diagrams City, not only because the entire city is arranged in an orderly manner, but there are many small details that reflect the special connection of Turks in the gossip. For example, the sewer cover in the city is basically a gossip pattern; the Ferris wheel in the city playground is a gossip pattern; the park square is also a gossip pattern. There are too many things related to gossip in this city. What is most impressive is that this element has been integrated into the culture and implanted into the consciousness of the local people. When we were shooting in the street, several local people greeted us. "Welcome to the Eight Diagrams City." It can be said that the Eight Diagrams is not only a styling element for the Turks, but also a trait culture that has been passed down from generation to generation!
Give the photographer a little dry goods. In the Turks, you can fly the drone. I personally have 2 suggestions for the take-off point. The first is about 1-2 kilometers from the city. Here you can take a panoramic view of the Bagua city from the side. The second is to take off from the city. We are taking off from the street, but the need to pay attention to the take-off in the city is the interference problem. There are several signal towers and electric towers in the city, so in some places the interference is particularly strong, and it is easy to lose the signal (the Royal 2 can be ignored because the 5G signal is used). And also consider the horsepower of the aircraft, if you want to fly 2-3 kilometers, and is flying against the wind, the power of the Royal 1 is more stretched. If you fly 500 meters in the city, the camera is vertical and down, it is impossible to frame the whole city. So you can only consider side shots, etc. This requires special attention!

Turks Gossip City
Come to the only gossip city in the world. If you want to feel the life of the locals, you must experience the local folk customs.
There are folk customs of the Uighurs and folk customs of the Kazakhs.
Half-day time we have wandered around the city, deeply understanding the enthusiasm of the minority people, the most impressive is the kebabs grilled by the boss in the courtyard of the Uygur B&B. Its really delicious, its the best kebab I have ever eaten. No matter which nation, in Xinjiang, everything comes in, and the table is filled with all kinds of Xinjiang fruits and snacks. When you are tired for a day and walk into the door, it is really hard to say that happiness is full.
NIC..
On the first day of the trip to Xinjiang, starting from the magical Turks Bagua City, you can feel the enthusiasm of Xinjiang people everywhere in the old streets of the Old Street of Bagua City.
said that Xinjiang Street is "di Lieiba", it is really not a fake, the little brother of the square dancing, the value of the younger sister is so high!

Tex Bagua City, since I dont know the true face of Mount Lu, Bagua City looks strange from the air. From the park pavilion in the middle, the drone is raised, overlooking the city, with very irregular geometric beauty, drones and hot air balloons are the best way to see the whole city, Tex County It is the only city in China that does not have traffic lights. It is really amazing!

I have been holding the air card punching and admiration on the road. When I walked outside the city of Turks, I felt that the Eight Diagrams City was so big that I couldnt get too close to the whole picture. So I just flew up to see the situation. Zhang had a heavy rain, and after a while he fled back.
Received the plane and drove directly into the city to eat. As a result, I didnt see the traffic lights on the road, and occasionally I saw a small traffic light that was temporarily pushed over. The city is clean and tidy, almost every road is very similar, it is very easy to get lost...
Here is a must-have break for self-driving Ili, there are many natural restaurants, after eating the barbecue, it is clear again, continue Raise the plane and take a few panoramic and partial pictures and continue to Kala Jun. On the roadside of the city, I met a stall selling fruit and bought a watermelon.
