The Uffizi Gallery was built in 1560, first commissioned by Cosimo I of the Medici family to build the office of the municipal judiciary (Uffizi means "office" in Italian) by Italian Renaissance painters and architects.
Later descendants of the Medici family, began depositing the family collection to the top floor of the palace and continued to expand until the collection reached its peak under Archduke Ferdinand II de Medici. During this period the Grand Dukes continually acquired, expanded, and preserved the most important works of the Renaissance such as ancient statues, paintings, and artworks.
Until the death of the Medici family in 1737, the last descendant of the Medici family, Anna Maria Luisa de Medici, when signing an agreement on the transfer of artworks, stipulated that the artworks must remain in Florence not to be carried and must serve the public, so donated the collection to the Florence government, no wonder the Uffizi Gallery's collection remains so intact after centuries. The finally renovated gallery was then officially opened to the public in 1765

DAY 2
AM:
Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore
It is a major landmark of Florence, built in 1296, until the final dome completed a total of 140 years, still the world's largest brick dome today, the most exaggerated thing is that Brunelles, who proposed the dome architectural plan at the time, was not an architect (but a watchmaker), but this greatest architectural masterpiece of the Renaissance stands to this day. Fiora refers to the lily, which is the city emblem of Florence
The ceiling of the dome is decorated with The Last Judgment. Initially painted after completion, it was Archduke Cosimo I de Medici who decided to paint the ceiling of the dome. Giorgio Vasari began creating this huge project in 1572, covering an area of 3,600 meters2 (38,750 square feet), and it was not completed until 1579. [37] Before his death in 1574, Vasari completed the upper part near the lantern, representing the 24 Elders of Revelation . Federico Zuccari, assisted by Bartolomeo Carducci, Domenico Passignano, and Stefano Pieri, completed the other sections: (from top to bottom) the choir of angels; These frescoes are considered Zukari’s greatest work. However, due to the input of different artists and different techniques, the quality of the works varies. Vasari used real frescoes, while Zukari painted in secco. In the restoration, which ended in 1995, the entire drawing cycle of The Last Judgment was photographed with purpose-designed installations and all the information gathered in the catalog. All restoration information as well as reconstructed images of the murals are stored in the Thesaurus Florentinus computer system.
