🇹🇭 Boat Ride 🔝 Local Floating Market
#thailandtrip
We took the boat that takes us through various stalls, which are by the side of the river.
There are shops on the land as well where we can drop off for some shopping and food.
Try the coconut ice cream for the sake of this experience.
Damnoen Saduak is One of the floating market in Thailand, this local market has many travelers and photographers come visit from all over the world too.
I am impressed by the boatsman’s skill of steering and rowing amidst the narrow lanes.
It was my first time at the floating water market where we were taken to shopping in a long tail motor boat ride. I love the unique experience shopping by the river.

Boat Ride Through Floating Market in Ratchaburi
#awesomepic #visitthailand #friendstrip
You should try this floating market experince at least once when you are in Thailand. Yes, there probably some seller trying to set a higher price for tourist but it’s an experience that you’ll hardly experience again. If you are a person with good negotation skills, you can definitely try asking for some better price. I noticed that most of the stall busy selling traditional handicraft, light snacks, local foods but of course there were also many other options as well. Back to my own experience, apart of shopping from our boat, we were also able to step out of our boat and take a quick visit at this temple, Wat Charoen. You could check the maps on the whole market and discuss with the boat owner if you could stop on some spot for quick visit. Just keep in mind that the boat are rent by hour.

Float along Damnoen Saduak with Trip.com 🛶
I booked a day trip to the floating market and the train market through trip.com. We booked for a private transfer to both markets. We were picked up from our hotel at 9am and taken to both. Our driver spoke good English and was also very kind and helpful. He made sure we were comfortable and shared a lot of information with us about both markets.
The floating market was super busy (we arrived around 11:30). We were taken to the boats and driven along the canals until we reached the shopping area.
If you want to stop and look at the stores, you need to speak up! The same goes for food and drinks. Otherwise you’ll float along without the chance to see much. 🤭
Note that most stores have similar items to sell and the price is higher, but it is on the water, and there are many tourists. You can use your bargaining skills to barter with the store owners.
We didn’t get the chance, but you can also get off the boat along the canals and eat at local restaurants there! #mytravelhacks #trip #thailand #thailandtravel #floatingmarket #holidayvacation #bangkok

Is it worth to visit Thai floating markets?
First of all is important to know that when You go to Bangkok there are many floating markets. The famous one is called Damnoen Saduak, It takes around 1.5 hours to get by car.
Is worth to spend around 2 hours and if possible rent a boat to bring You inside the market and have a full experience of It. But if You prefer also can just walk around the market, all site are accessible by walking.
If You rent a car is important to know that the drivers might try to bring You to some different area from this market and try to sell You another market activity saying that the market can not be acceded by walking. If It happens just show Him the map where You wanna go and tell Him that before come You had searched about It and You know how it works!
By the way is a nice activity to know more about the local culture and old costumes.

The Damnoen Saduak Floating Market is one of Thailand's most popular tourist destinations, known for its vibrant atmosphere and unique shopping experience. But hidden within the market's bustling crowds is a tranquil oasis - the beautiful traditional Buddhist temple inside the Floating Market!
The temple is a beautiful and serene escape from the busy market, with ornate decorations and a sense of peace that's hard to find amidst the crowds. You can take a break from shopping and enjoy the temple's calm atmosphere, admiring the intricate details of the architecture and soaking in the spiritual energy.
Definitely don’t miss out to visit the temple inside Damnoen Saduak Floating Market if you are around the market! It is a unique and memorable experience that offers a glimpse into Thailand's rich cultural heritage.

Damnoen Saduak is one of the most popular floating markets around Bangkok. It has a lot of amazing things to look forward to, from shopping to dining and strolling around. Because of this, it is explored by many locals and tourists every year.
My visit to the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market was truly memorable and enjoyable because of the great selection of fresh finds, local foods, and unique items.
Damnoen Saduak Floating Market truly makes up for a great Bangkok day trip. This is such a famous floating market because of the vast number of locals doing business on wooden boats.
For a fun and unforgettable trip you have to go there for yourself

🇹🇭 Floating market Damnoen Saduak
One of the floating markets in Bangkok is Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. I used a private driver for this day trip because I needed to drive more than an hour to reach this floating market. Back in the days in Thailand, floating markets were common for daily activities and also known as “Venice of the East”. It is important to keep your belongings waterproof to prevent any accidents. Also, try to have some small notes ready to pay the vendors. I will suggest you have a friend with you so that you can concentrate on taking photos while your friend does the buying and paying the vendors.

Damnoen Saduak floating Market in Ratchaburi is one of the most popular floating markets in Thailand. Klong Damnoen Saduak Damnoen Saduak is the straightest and longest canal in Thailand. The canal was built on royal initiative as King Rama IV of Thailand wanted to link the Mae Klong River with Chinese river ways to support transportation and trade. Damnoen Saduak Food Trail
Getting There - Guided tour with car / taxi
Attractions - Shopping at the floating market via a boat
Hotels - N.A
Food & Restaurants - Great noodles, coconut ice cream, grilled pork
Shopping - Souvenirs are quite overpriced at up to 300% more. Be prepared to haggle especially when they know you're not a local. Don't be afraid to walk away or ask that your boat be released if you get a bad deal.
Overall for my first visit here, it was sad to see how quiet the pandemic has made this market due to a lack of stores open.
However, it's also presented a great opportunity to explore without the crowds with an off the track experience available from visiting the old market where there's a more rustic and authentic experience with the community.

This is a must go for a tourist in Bangkok. Its an experience of Bangkok outskirt. Being a regular tourist in Bangkok, this one off experience is worth the time. Plenty of food priced reasonably. As for goods and local products, its kind of pricey.

Drifting Through Bangkok’s Floating Markets: A Vibrant Experience
A visit to Bangkok wouldn’t be complete without exploring its iconic floating markets. These bustling waterways offer a fascinating glimpse into Thailand’s traditional way of life, where locals sell fresh produce, street food, and handcrafted goods from their long-tail boats. It’s an experience that blends culture, history, and unforgettable flavors.
Damnoen Saduak, the most famous floating market, is a whirlwind of colors and activity. As you glide through the narrow canals on a boat, you’ll encounter vendors paddling their wares—everything from tropical fruits like mangosteen and rambutan to steaming bowls of boat noodles and coconut ice cream served in husks.
For a more local vibe, visit Amphawa Floating Market. This market, often less crowded, is known for its grilled seafood. The aroma of freshly cooked prawns and squid wafts through the air as vendors prepare their dishes right on their boats. The nearby wooden houses and canal-side cafes add to Amphawa’s charm, offering a relaxed pace that contrasts with Bangkok’s urban hustle.
Fun fact: Floating markets originated from Thailand’s canal-based lifestyle, where waterways served as primary routes for transportation and trade before modern roads were built.
Beyond the food and shopping, the floating markets are a cultural experience. The chants of vendors, the vibrant goods, and the laid-back rhythm of life on the water make it a sensory adventure. Don’t forget to bring your camera to capture the kaleidoscope of colors and lively scenes.
A trip to Bangkok’s floating markets is more than just a shopping spree—it’s an immersion into Thailand’s rich heritage. Whether you’re savoring local delicacies or soaking in the atmosphere, it’s a journey you’ll remember long after the boat ride ends.

Shopping at the floating market
There are various floating markets in Thailand from the one in the city to the one outside of Bangkok and the one we went to called Damnoen Saduak Floating market, one of the biggest floating market in Thailand. It took around 2 hours from Bangkok by bus. It has always been one of the experiences that I wanted to try if I ever visited Thailand. I'm sure you have heard of the floating market and like its name it means the market is floating on the water. So first, you begin your journey by taking an excited boat ride through various water canals before reaching the market. The market vendors are on the water or on a boat, and you can shop and experience the market as you ride the boat along the canals. Nevertheless the price of the food there is kinda pricy so beware if you decide to visit 😉. We went on this trip by booking from the tour we found in trips.com. It was an easy way to book and find the right location to go. #familytrip #thailandtrip #floatingmarket #shoppingexperience

Anything travels
Bangkok niche check-in place, this floating market is super distinctive.
When traveling to Bangkok, in addition to experiencing the bustling international metropolis, you must visit 1-2 local characteristic markets!
There are several floating markets in Bangkok. After considering factors such as fun, photogenic rate, and transportation, we chose [Danen Sado Floating Market].
.
📍Danen Sado Floating Market
🎫Free
🚗About 100km from downtown Bangkok
.
✅Transportation Guide
▪️Because it is far from downtown Bangkok, it is generally recommended to take a chartered car or join a tour group.
▪️If you are traveling independently, it is more troublesome. You can take a train + ferry + train + taxi. It is recommended to play with the Maeklong Railway Market together. One day is just right, but you must strictly control the time!
✔️We chose a local group tour of Maeklong + Danen Sado for a day, so we don't have to worry about transportation
💰About 180r per person
.
✅Shopping and Photography Guide
🚣 When you come to the floating market, you must experience shopping on the water!
❶There are two types of boats: hand-paddled boats and motorboats. Each boat can accommodate 4-5 people.
❷Hand-paddled boat 1000 baht/boat; motorboat 400 baht/person, starting from 4 people.
❸Highly recommend hand-paddled boats, which are more comfortable and not too noisy!
❹If you are traveling independently, remember to bargain!
❺When the boat passes by various stalls, you can stop when you see something you want to buy
🛍️Local snacks, handicrafts, etc. are sold here, and the prices are cheaper than downtown Bangkok, but more expensive than Maeklong.
📸After taking the boat, you can walk around the market
❻The observation deck by the water and the bridge are higher, which are more suitable for taking photos.
❼You can check in at the iconic location at the entrance of the market

Bangkok was known as a small trading center and port community on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River about 200 years ago. Today, although it can be called a modern city that is very up to date, the grandeur and luxury of its past history are still very much felt. Start your journey by visiting Wat Arun or commonly known by Bangkok residents as Wat Chaeng. Located west of Thonburi on the banks of the Chao Phraya River. This is one of the most stunning temples in Bangkok, not only because of its location on the riverbank, but also because its design is very different from other temples. Wat Arun (temple of dawn) consists partly of colorful towers that stand majestically on the water.
Don't forget to stop by the Grand Palace & Wat Prakeaw. The floating market in Damnoen Saduak is one of the spots that you must visit. Various types of food are sold here; from fresh tropical fruits and vegetables, ready-to-drink coconut water and local food cooked from a floating kitchen directly on the boat! Chatuchak Weekend Market is one of the must-visit places for those of you who like shopping. This market houses more than 8,000 small stalls. On weekends, more than 200,000 visitors come here to shop. Tired of walking all day, don't forget to taste Pad Thai, Tom Yum, or the typical Thai dessert: Mango with Sticky Rice.

Good amd Careful points in floating market
I visited Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. I will write about the good and careful points there.
Firstly, it was a great experience of floating market. I went there, and ride a boat. I bought some souvenirs and foods, it was a bit expensive compared to other markets though. (I felt this market is for tourists, not for local people)
Secondly, I went there by bus, but the arrival point is not a correct place of market. There are some people to say me it’s a floating market, and even there is titles of Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. However, the prices were so expensive. I walked to the original place and ride a boat. Be careful about it.

If you go to a traditional market in Bangkok, you can see that it starts early in the morning or operates only in the morning! This time, instead of a regular traditional market, I visited Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, which is a bit far from Bangkok City, to experience a floating market😆
Since it is a floating market, you have to ride a boat and move along the waterway and buy whatever you want or food you come across. It was different and fun because it felt random! If you have some time in Bangkok, I recommend taking a tour and visiting comfortably!

The water market in Bangkok
The market is located southwest of Bangkok, about 80 kilometers from the city. It retains traditional trading methods, and tourists can take long-tail boats to visit, enjoying the shops and cargo boats along the way and purchasing various goods. Coconut ice cream is still acceptable at 60 baht. Durian at 200 baht is not very fresh. It would be better if the water were clearer. There are many beautiful foreign children playing on boats, which is very pleasing to the eye.
