I love to shop for old objects and small ornaments. I used to go to Chifeng Street to hunt for treasures. But this time when I came to Dihua Street, I was completely amazed by the Modern Mode Cafe opened by artist Zhong Yao. The space is low-key and hidden in the alley, but when you walk in, it feels like walking into a small selection store on the streets of Paris. Several retro European sofas, wooden dining tables, and industrial iron chairs are placed just right, warm and unique. This is not just a cafe, but also a selection store. All furniture is old pieces collected by the boss himself from all over the world. The front half of the space is converted into an ornament display area with old tables. It is full of antique necklaces, earrings, ornaments and European-style utensils. You can buy them and take them home. You can own what you like. It is not just a look but a part of life. Walking into the No. 1 record store in Dadaocheng, you can not only feel the strong musical atmosphere, but also the full human touch. I took the initiative to ask the boss lady if I could take a photo. She agreed very enthusiastically and also talked to us about the founding process of the record store. She shared how she seized an opportunity during Taiwan’s most prosperous economic period in the 1950s to run the store and has continued to this day. That entrepreneurial story is full of hard work and wisdom, which makes people have more admiration for this small shop. Transportation is very convenient and you can get there by MRT or bus. It is suitable for a simple half-day to one-day trip to take a short time travel here. Taipei City is full of cycling spots, and renting a UBike is easy. Evening cycling at Dadaocheng Pier is incredibly comfortable. You can even cross the bridge to the Taipei Bridge to visit Sanhe Night Market and enjoy the night view of Taipei City. Highly recommended. Taipei's annual Dadaocheng fireworks display is themed around a summer festival this year, with displays taking place for three consecutive Wednesdays starting August 7th at 8 p.m. August 30th will feature an extended display, unlike the 300-second display. In previous years, I've watched from Gate 3 at Dadaocheng Wharf, which is not only packed with people but even more crowded at the end. This time, I chose to watch from Zhongxiao Wharf across the river. Unexpectedly, I was directly opposite the launch platform, with the Shin Kong Skyscraper as my backdrop, offering a truly unique fireworks display experience.
