Did you know that there is a temple in Echizen City, Fukui Prefecture, also known as the Cat Temple? Gotanjoji Temple is a Soto Zen temple located in the quiet mountains of Shoda Town, Echizen City. It has a solemn temple atmosphere, but in fact it protects and raises more than 50 abandoned and injured cats. Of course, there are many cats, which is soothing, but what surprised me was that even the Buddha statues had cats on them. They are so cute that I couldn't stop taking photos. During RENEW, workshops and businesses making Echizen lacquerware, Echizen washi paper, Echizen cutlery, Echizen chests, Echizen pottery, glasses, and textiles will be open to the public, so you can see places you normally can't see, try out traditional techniques in workshops, buy limited edition products, and enjoy local gourmet food. A festival for the whole town! It was so much fun 🥳 . Kitago Station is a wooden unmanned station on the Fukui Railway Fukubu Line. #Sakura2024 There were beautiful cherry blossoms at Echizen Takefu Station! Each flower is reproduced with washi paper. I was surprised that they looked like real cherry blossoms even up close. The branches are made from real cherry blossom wood.
