This exhibition combines fun, knowledge, and interactivity, and won the Best Creative Award in the 8th National Museum Top Ten Exhibition Selection.

The Confucian Style: Changzhou in the Ming and Qing Dynasties
The Confucian Style: Changzhou in the Ming and Qing Dynasties is on display at the Changzhou History and Culture Exhibition Hall on the second floor of the Changzhou Museum at 1288 Longcheng Avenue, Changzhou, Jiangsu Province.
The ancient Yue people were known for their martial arts and bravery. Changzhou, which was part of the ancient Yue region, underwent a fundamental change in its folk customs due to the establishment of the cultural tradition of Jizha, the cultural influence of Qi and Liang, and the stimulation of the imperial examination system. The prosperous industry and commerce deeply affected the way of life and values of the people of Changzhou, and laid the foundation for the high development of Changzhou culture in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Changzhou in the Song Dynasty was known as "the crown of the southeast with its Confucian style". By the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the emphasis on culture and education had become a prominent feature of Changzhou's regional culture.

Longcheng Buddhism and Taoism - Changzhou Religion
Exhibited in the Changzhou History and Culture Exhibition Hall, Changzhou Museum, 1288 Longcheng Avenue, Changzhou, Jiangsu Province.
Buddhism and Taoism in Changzhou are very developed. Since the Six Dynasties, Buddhism in Changzhou has developed greatly and is closely related to people's daily life. Tianning Temple, which was built in the Tang Dynasty, is tall and majestic, rare in China, and became one of the "Four Great Jungles in the Southeast" in the Qing Dynasty. Tianning Zen Temple is also known as the "First Jungle in the Southeast" because of its "majestic and spectacular temples, tall and solemn Buddha statues, famous monks from all generations, and famous Dharma meetings". Taoism regards Maoshan as a sacred place in Jiangdong, the eighth cave in the top ten caves, and the first blessed place in the 72 blessed places. In particular, Tao Hongjing's creation of the Maoshan Shangqing Taoist group has had a significant impact on the development of Taoism.

The Longteng Zhongwu Tea Mountain Ancient Road is located on the second floor of the Changzhou Museum at No. 1288 Longcheng Avenue, Changzhou, Jiangsu Province.
During the Tang Dynasty, Changzhou not only reached a peak in agricultural economy, but also developed shipbuilding, silk weaving, papermaking and other handicraft industries. The trade of grain, tea, porcelain and other commodities was particularly prosperous. Ming Xu Cizhu's "Tea Shu" said: "Tang people first push Yangxian", referring to the Yixing Purple Bamboo Tea that was first recommended by Li Qiyun, the governor of Changzhou during the Tang Dynasty. These teas were transported to the north through the ancient tea mountain road in the southern suburbs to take the Piling Post, and the transportation, storage, and sale of civilian tea were also transported to the north through the canal.

Elegant Life of Song People in Longteng Zhongwu
The Elegant Life of Song People in Longteng Zhongwu is exhibited on the second floor of Changzhou Museum, 1288 Longcheng Avenue, Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province.
During the Southern Song Dynasty, the migration of northerners to the south, the development of the social economy, and the active circulation of goods profoundly changed the living conditions of people in the Changzhou area. This social change has been confirmed by archaeological excavations over the years. Archaeologists have unearthed a large number of burial artifacts in Changzhou Song tombs, including porcelain from famous kilns from all over the country, lacquerware from the famous lacquer town of Wenzhou, daily necessities and stationery with unique shapes and exquisite craftsmanship, and locally produced exquisite lacquerware and gorgeous silk. These exquisite artifacts not only reflect the prosperous commerce and trade and developed handicraft industry in Changzhou during the Song Dynasty, but also reflect the elegant and exquisite lifestyle of Changzhou people during the Song Dynasty.

Wetland Elves - Changzhou Museum Collection of Fine Wading Birds Exhibition (II).
The Wetland Elves - Changzhou Museum Collection of Fine Wading Birds Exhibition is located on the 3rd floor of the Changzhou Museum at 1288 Longcheng Avenue, Changzhou, Jiangsu Province.
Birds are usually divided into six ecological groups: wading birds, swimming birds, birds of prey, climbing birds, land birds, and songbirds, according to their different forms and habits. Among them, wading birds are a type of bird adapted to living in swamps or by the water. They include the Charadriiformes, Gruiformes, Ciconiiformes, and most species of the Gruiformes (excluding seabirds), all of which are wetland waterbirds.
Wading birds vary greatly in size. Although they live by the water, their swimming ability is average, but they are good at flying and have a graceful posture. Their main features are "three longs" - long beaks, long necks, and long legs. They often stand on one leg when resting, and most of them get food from the bottom of the water, mud, or the ground.
Egrets, cranes, cranes, parrots, and parrots are all wading birds.

Six Dynasties - The Era of Pursuing Personal Liberation (Changzhou Museum).
Changzhou Museum is located at No. 1288, Longcheng Avenue, Xinbei District, Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province. The "Six Dynasties" exhibition is located in the Changzhou History and Culture Exhibition Hall on the second floor of Changzhou Museum.
During the Wei and Jin Dynasties, literati and scholars were elegant and did not follow the rules and conventions, which was the social fashion that people pursued. Words and deeds that were different from common sense, common people, and common feelings were everywhere. During this period, the Confucianism of the Han Dynasty collapsed, personal liberation, and metaphysics prevailed. Personalized and even rebellious lifestyles and social customs have developed.
During the Six Dynasties, the celadon in the south of the Yangtze River occupied a very important position in the development of ancient Chinese ceramics. It inherited the achievements of the Han Dynasty ceramics and laid a solid foundation for the prosperity of the Sui and Tang Dynasties. The celadon unearthed in Changzhou during this period has a dense texture and uniform glaze color, especially the appearance of chicken head pots, frog-shaped water basins, and tiger-shaped objects reflecting the forming technology.

Dragon Soaring over Wu - Changzhou Ancient History and Culture (I)
The Changzhou Museum is located at 1288 Longcheng Avenue, Xinbei District, Changzhou, Jiangsu. The Dragon Soaring over Wu - Changzhou Ancient History and Culture exhibition is on the second floor of the Changzhou Museum in the Changzhou History and Culture Exhibition Hall.
The Changzhou area is located on the northwest edge of the Taihu Lake Basin, an ancient land. The large number of Old Stone Age tools unearthed in Jintan and Shadun show that humans thrived here 100,000 years ago. Entering the Neolithic Age, this land successively experienced the Majiabang culture, the Songze culture, and the Liangzhu culture. Xudun and Sidun are important sites of the Majiabang culture and the Liangzhu culture. The large number of jade ritual vessels unearthed from the No. 3 tomb of Sidun prove that this was a central settlement second only to Liangzhu in Zhejiang.

One-day tour in Changzhou
Date: 2024.07.27
Weather: Cloudy ☁️, with a gentle breeze
Changzhou Museum: Highly recommended, extremely beautiful! Learning from the lesson of not visiting the museum in Zhenjiang yesterday, today we came to the museum first, and it was a pleasant surprise.
The first floor has three special exhibitions: Trilobites in the Ocean (you can get a stamp), Austrian Silverware, and Changzhou's great painter Xie Zhiliu. Additionally, there is a cultural and creative area on the first floor where you can also get a stamp.
The second floor is the permanent exhibition: Changzhou from ancient times to the present. The most impressive part is the many beautiful bricks with various patterns, and the exquisite bamboo carvings of Changzhou.
The third floor has three exhibitions: Children's Natural History Exhibition (highly recommended for those with kids to go directly to the third floor), with numerous specimen models ranging from mammals to insects, fish, wetlands, and forests. The models are lifelike, the specimens are beautiful, and the scenery is realistic; the Redwood Furniture Exhibition, which gives off a vibe of wealth and culture, and you can also get a stamp; the Red Glory Exhibition (July special exhibition at the Modern Art Museum), not to be missed.
Changzhou Planning Museum: Located right opposite the entrance of the museum, in the same building. The service desk has stamps, and the interior scenery is excellent, from ancient charm to modern development. Recommended for Changzhou residents, as it might resonate more with them.
Changzhou Cultural Plaza: The art museum, library, and municipal center are all here. The architecture is grand, but it's really hot outside, with large open squares.
Tianning Temple: From 4:30 PM onwards, only exits are allowed, no entry. We couldn't get in. If you plan to visit, make sure to go to Tianning Temple first and then Hongmei Park (the park doesn't close).
Hongmei Park: The trees are quite lush, and there are many water bodies, making it very cool. There are many small attractions like Hongmei Pavilion, Banshan Pavilion, Zhiyin Boat, Wenbi Tower, etc.
Qingguo Lane: Changzhou's version of 'Old Gate East' has arrived. It's a great place for stamp collecting. There are many stamps at Yujian Bookstore, Zhuangyuan Post Office, and hand-drawn Qingguo. Some stamps require a purchase.

Why not visit the neighboring small town CITY WALK when Suzhou is too crowded?
Changzhou, also known as Dragon City, why not take a trip to Dragon City in the Year of the Dragon?
Picture 1-3, Hongmei Park. The number one garden in Changzhou, with cultural relics such as Hongmei Pavilion and Wenbi Tower. It is the season when the red plum blossoms are in full bloom, and you can take as many photos as you like without reservation, no admission fee, and no crowds!
Picture 4-5, Qingguo Alley. The number one alley of scholars in the south of the Yangtze River, this alley of just over 300 meters has produced more than 100 scholars! The preservation of old buildings is also quite good, with old houses and small courtyards. Take a walk and explore the cultural veins of this geomantic treasure.
Picture 6-8, Changzhou Museum. Compared to the Suzhou Museum, the Changzhou Museum is not large in size, and there are not many long-term exhibitions, but there are still many interesting things to see. In the Year of the Dragon, it's also interesting to look for the dragon brick in the Dragon City Museum.
Picture 9-11, when you come to Changzhou, you must visit the Tenghua Old Hall, now also known as the Su Dongpo Memorial Hall, where Su Dongpo spent the last part of his life. The courtyard is small but quaint, with wisteria, plum blossoms, and a Song dynasty well. Spend some quiet time here and reflect on the ups and downs of Su Dongpo's life and his spirit, and you are sure to gain some insight. There is also a large area of old houses near the memorial hall, which you can also visit if you have time.
Picture 12-13, how can you not stroll through the local old communities at citywalk? Qingliang New Village, Worker's New Village, and Hongmei New Village contain the most authentic local life and hide countless gourmet eateries. Wander through the alleys, dine in the restaurants, stop and go, and try living a day as a local in Changzhou.

Impressions of Changbo
The Changzhou Museum is located at No. 1288 Longcheng Avenue, Xinbei District, Changzhou City, with 2 basic exhibitions, 2 thematic exhibitions and 3 temporary exhibition halls. The basic exhibitions are "Longteng Zhongwu - Changzhou Ancient History and Culture Exhibition" and "Magical Nature Beautiful Home - Changzhou Children's Nature Exhibition"; the thematic exhibitions are "Xie Zhiliu Art Exhibition" and "Mr. Liu Guojun's Donated Mahogany Furniture Exhibition"; the temporary exhibition halls hold various special exhibitions and touring exhibitions from time to time.
At present, Changzhou Museum has more than 30,000 pieces/sets of collections, including 51 national first-class cultural relics (1 national treasure), 245 second-class cultural relics, and 3,147 third-class cultural relics. The characteristic cultural relics include Liangzhu jade, original celadon from the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, Song and Yuan lacquerware and porcelain, and Ming and Qing calligraphy and painting.
The Changzhou Museum has the first children's natural museum in the country and the only one in Jiangsu Province, with nearly 5,000 kinds of natural specimens, about 10,000 pieces, divided into six major series featuring fur animals, marine animals, domestic and foreign fine insects, regional Chinese herbal medicines, mineral crystals and ancient biological fossils. Among them, the Confucius bird fossil, Wengrong snail, golden beak phoenix butterfly and a batch of fossils and biological specimens are rare in the world and have extremely high scientific value.
After a round, the most impressive thing is the Southern Dynasty portrait brick. The brick has a relief-style imprint, the composition of the portrait brick is concise, the lines are smooth, the artistic abstraction is extremely strong, and the patterns are mostly warriors and maids; the pattern bricks are mostly arranged in order, or decorated as borders, with dragon patterns, phoenix patterns, lion patterns, tiger patterns, Tianlu patterns, Pixie patterns, flying fairy patterns, human-headed bird patterns, beast-faced bird patterns, six-petal scroll leaf patterns, scroll grass patterns, round wave patterns, rhombus patterns, diagonal fine patterns, etc.
When I went there, I happened to catch the "Three Stars Dazzling" - Jintan Sanxing Village Site Special Exhibition. The Sanxing Village site unearthed a total of more than 4,000 various cultural relics such as pottery, stone, jade, bone, horn, tooth, and clam, the number is large, the value is great, and the fine artifacts are extremely rare in the same period of primitive culture in China. Among them, the number of bone, horn, tooth, and clam utensils is large and well-made, and the engraved plate-shaped utensils are unprecedented, which may be related to primitive religion, witchcraft, etc. The colored pottery beans with cloud and thunder patterns are the earliest evidence of cloud and thunder patterns seen so far. The distribution of graves in the site is very dense, the human bone specimens in the grave are hard, and most of the skull bones are intact, which is rare in the same period sites in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River. The discovery of the site provides strong evidence for studying major academic issues such as the cultural type and origin of civilization in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River in the Neolithic Age.

💡Taiwan puppet show, in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the string puppet show and the palm puppet show were introduced to Taiwan with the footsteps of Fujian immigrants.

Used to being busy, used to being on the go. It's time to find a city to slow down, relax, and experience the local slow life! Changzhou is such a city suitable for a slow-paced life. Relax here and find the original look of life.
When you come to Changzhou, you know that life doesn't have to be so hurried. Time can be engraved in every bit of beautiful time, maybe in an old alley, in a museum, in the joy of discovering something new.
Coming to Changzhou Museum, I lingered here for nearly 3 hours. Changzhou Museum is a local comprehensive museum that integrates collection, research, and exhibition (including the only children's natural museum in the province), and it is a national second-level museum.
Changzhou Museum not only has jade ware from the Liangzhu culture period, primitive celadon ware from the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, lacquerware and porcelain from the Song and Yuan periods, and calligraphy and painting from the Ming and Qing periods, etc. You can also visit Mr. Xie Zhiliu's artistic career and works. The Ming and Qing Dynasty mahogany furniture exhibition on the third floor is not to be missed!
I also saw many parents with 3, 5-year-old children in the Children's Natural Museum to recognize wild animals and marine life. The museum not only has dinosaur fossils, but also bears, leopards, giraffes, peacocks and other dazzling animal specimens! It is a lively classroom for children to learn and understand the world!
I also learned a lot here. Changzhou Museum is a place where you can come again and again! Learning is endless! Broaden your horizons and perspectives here.
Changzhou Museum is also a window to understand Changzhou! Travel to Changzhou, experience Changzhou's slow life, let time slow down here. Add Changzhou Museum to your travel list!

The Dragon Boat Festival is coming again, and the tourist near the Yangtze River Delta is hot again. Changzhou personally feels good, there are many places to play. The
Changzhou Museum is one of them and is free to open. There are many stations in the museum about the history of Changzhou. After all, it is a dragon city, fossils, specimens and the like. The museums in the prefecture-level city are rich in content.
