#seoul The Secret Garden was first constructed during the reign of King Taejong, who ruled from 1400 to 1418. Its location allowed access from either Changdeokgung Palace or adjacent Changgyeonggung Palace.The royal family has used the garden as a place of rest since the reign of King Taejong. They would come here to contemplate life, write poems, and hold banquets. The garden was also used as an archery range and as the location of military drills.

I love the path to the garden as it feels so peaceful and you can get to see the majesty of autumn in all its glorious colour. ⏰ Best time to visit: The Secret Garden at Changdeokgung is gorgeous all through autumn, but there are peak times for the best foliage. Typically, in Seoul, the peak of autumn is near the end of October. To see the Secret Garden at its most colourful, I recommend visiting between mid-October to mid-November at the latest.

Located at the inner part of Changdeokgung, the secret garden is built during King Taejong's reign and served as the resting area for royal families. Usually only allow 100 tickets per day for visitatationq with a guide, but it allows free visitation during autumn period. A very splendid area to enjoy autumn foliage due to the less number of tourists and one can really catch some stunning pictures and enjoy the serenity of autumn.

The walking path is well-maintained and the view is amazing. Maybe it's because it was a resting place for the royal family, but when I stand here, all kinds of historical drama stories come to mind? Stone paths wound through quiet groves and lotus ponds that mirrored wisps of passing clouds. Old pavilions stood tucked among maples and gingko, their painted eaves delicate against the green. It felt like the city fell away here, replaced by the soft rustle of leaves and the hush of history that lingered in every shaded corner. 🌿🏯🪷 Later, we wandered into Ikseon-dong’s narrow alleys, where hanok rooftops tangled with hanging ivy and tiny signboards promised hidden gems. That’s how we found Bakery Theater, part café, part small-stage space, where the smell of fresh brioche mingled with faint piano notes from a back room. We sipped cool yuja tea as young actors rehearsed quietly by the window, the whole place wrapped in a cozy hush that made us want to stay all afternoon. 🍵🥐 As evening came, we strolled along quiet streets lit by hanging lamps, stopping for street tteokbokki that burned sweet and spicy on our tongues. I can't believe there is such a relaxing place in the big city of Seoul! I was really healed! There is a special place called "Harem" here! It is also called the Secret Garden! This Secret Garden is a special place that you can only enter if you sign up for a guided tour! There is also a set time! The tours are sold out because many locals visit! 🌟Depending on the season, you may be able to freely view the garden without signing up for a tour! When I visited, I was lucky enough to be able to enter during the free viewing period, so I was able to enter smoothly! #June Travel Support Fund The Changgyeonggung Pond was more beautiful than I expected. The waves gently rippled, and the surrounding scenery was reflected as it was, just like a painting. I sat on a bench for a while and spent time looking at the pond, and my mind felt really at ease. It's a great place to enjoy alone contemplation or go on a date with your lover.
