Beijing Day Tour: 12 Must-See Attractions
#BeijingTravel #Beijing #Must-visit attractions in life #You must visit the Forbidden City #Must-check-in museums #Tourist-style special forces #Walking Forbidden City culture #Leave a good memory here
I traveled from Hong Kong to Beijing and upon arrival it was noticeably cold and dry. The trees in Beijing are bare in winter, but the taxi driver explained that they are just overwintering and will sprout again in the spring. This is in stark contrast to the evergreen scenery of Hong Kong. Beijing has distinct four seasons, with cold winters and hot summers.
Here are 12 must-visit places and their surrounding recommendations:
1. National Flag Raising Ceremony at Tiananmen Square (free, reservation required)
I got up at 5:30 in the morning and took a taxi to Tiananmen Square. The square is large and has three viewing locations, but due to crowd control, you cannot change locations after choosing one. You need to prepare your ID card and appointment QR code in advance to pass security check.
2. Beijing Quanfude Roast Duck Restaurant, Forbidden City Branch
After watching the flag-raising ceremony, we headed to a nearby roast duck restaurant. Personally, I think the roast duck tastes average, but the rice and fried shrimp are good. Beijing local friends are welcome to recommend better roast duck restaurants.
3. Temple of Heaven Park (ticket required)
Take Metro Line 8 to Tianqiao Station Exit C. There are many elders doing morning exercises in the park. The Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests is where the emperor talks with heaven, and its design symbolizes the roundness of the sky and the squareness of the earth.
4. Beihai Park (ticket required)
Take a taxi to Beihai Park to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the White Pagoda and its reflection on the lake. The park carries nearly a thousand years of Chinese history and culture and is a representative of royal gardens.
5. The Palace Museum (tickets must be purchased in advance)
Take a bus from Beihai Park to Xihuamen and enter the Palace Museum. The buildings in the courtyard are magnificent, showcasing ancient Chinese royal architecture and history.
6. Beijing Military Museum (free, reservation required)
Visit various weapons, models and historical exhibitions, and learn about the glorious deeds of the Chinese Volunteer Army.
7. Tiananmen Square East Flag Lowering Ceremony (free, reservation required)
Take the subway to Tiananmen East to watch the flag-lowering ceremony. The scene is shocking and reservations are required in advance.
8. Old Summer Palace-Tsinghua University
Take the subway to the Old Summer Palace. Although it is closed, you can ride a bicycle to Tsinghua University and Peking University to check in.
9. National Stadium Bird's Nest
Ride a bicycle from Peking University to the National Stadium to experience the atmosphere of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
10. China World Trade Center CBD Beijing Central Radio and Television Station
Take a taxi to the Samsung Building in the China World Trade Center CBD, check in at Beijing Central Radio and Television Station, and experience Beijing's modern urban construction.
11. Wangfujing Pedestrian Street-The Peninsula Beijing
Enjoy delicious food at Wangfujing Pedestrian Street. We recommend the tomato and egg noodles and meat pie.
12. Shichahai
Go to Shichahai at night to experience the lively atmosphere of the bar street, which is more interesting than Lan Kwai Fong in Hong Kong.
Beijing is full of the blend of history and modernity. From ancient royal gardens to modern urban construction, each attraction has its own unique charm. Booking in advance and planning your trip are key to ensuring a smooth visit. I hope this travelogue can provide a useful reference for friends who are planning to travel to Beijing.
