🌉The oldest suspension bridge in Singapore🌉
Before the Covid period, 2 years ago, I had the opportunity to go to Singapore 🇸🇬 and stayed at The Fullerton Hotel 🏨. Unfortunately, we took very few pictures in this hotel because we were busy doing this and that, so we didn't have the chance to take many pictures. But I must say that the history of this hotel is extraordinary. Before the reclamation of the sea in this area, this area used to be the mouth of the Singapore River. This Fullerton Hotel used to be a fortress for the army, including many buildings designed by British colonial architecture, such as Cavenagh Bridge, the only suspension bridge in Singapore. And it is also the oldest bridge. Used to cross the Singapore River. At the end before reaching Marina Bay, in front of the Fullerton Hotel, a classic 5-star luxury hotel, on the waterfront. On the other side of the bridge is the Asian Civilizations Museum and the Victoria Theatre & Concert Hall. When evening falls, the bridge will be lit up for beauty.
Cavenagh Bridge Bridge) was built in 1870 to celebrate British relations. It was originally called Edinburgh Bridge to welcome the royal family from Edinburgh, but was later renamed Cavenagh after the ruler of Singapore from 1859 to 1867.
Currently, Cavenagh Bridge is a pedestrian-only bridge connecting the leisure and cultural zones upstream of the river with the commercial, business and office zones downstream of the Singapore River.
