The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception is the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Chanthaburi. It is located on the banks of the Chanthaburi Canal, opposite the old community of Chanthaburi, Tambon Chanthanimit, Mueang District, Chanthaburi Province. The current cathedral is the fifth one, consecrated by the French Father Emile Auguste Colombet on January 10, 1909, and built by Father Perigal. The cathedral originally had spires on both bell towers, but during World War II in 1940, the government ordered them to be demolished because they would be bomb targets for warplanes. After the war ended, they were reinstalled on December 11, 2009. The cathedral is now 109 years old.

The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception is one of the most beautiful cathedrals in Thailand and the only cathedral-level church on the eastern side of Thailand. The most notable features are the spires on the two bell towers. Inside the cathedral, the ceiling is decorated in the shape of a Noah's Ark, with Gothic glass windows and stained glass. Inside, there is also a precious Virgin Mary. Decorated with over 200,000 gems, or over 20,000 carats, and a base cast from pure silver, decorated with gold and various gems, this temple received the Outstanding Building Conservation Award in 1999 from the Association of Siamese Architects under Royal Patronage.
