Luxembourg Military Fortress - Fort Pauk / Fort Beck / Fort Betelius
#WinHongKongTicket I want to go to Hong Kong to eat dim sum
We came to Luxembourg to visit this greatest fortress in history, explore the bunkers on the cliffs, and overlook the castle buildings in the valley. Before visiting, we first start by understanding its history, and then we understand its importance. This is the mode of travel.
In 963 AD, Count Siegfried built a fortress, and over the following centuries its fortifications were continuously strengthened, making it a solid defense system. Despite this, it was ruled by neighboring countries for four centuries. The fortress was built into a highly defensive city by the Burgundians, Spanish, French, Austrians and the German Confederation.
The earliest existing fortress is the Petelius Fortress, also known as the Bock Fortress (Casemates du Bock). The fortress platform is today's Constitution Square. Part of the passage, with a total length of 17 kilometers, has been open to the public since 1933 and has been listed as a World Heritage Site. The archaeological basement at the entrance to Fort Baker contains the remains of a 10th-century blockhouse, and gun rooms have been carved out of the rock walls beside the passage, through which you can see the tranquil river valley scenery outside the rock walls.
When you enter the fortress, remember to take the tour leaflet, this is very important.
