Introducing Luxembourg's best spots!
🇱🇺Luxembourg - The profound charm of a small country. A walking journey through the "hidden treasure box" of Luxembourg
Even when traveling around Europe, Luxembourg isn't a country that often comes up in conversation.
But upon actually visiting, I fell in love with the country's atmosphere, topography, history, and quiet elegance.
Today, I'd like to share my journey through this small, rich, and deeply charming country on Note.
Walking through the cliff-top old town
The old town of the capital, Luxembourg City, felt like walking through a medieval storybook.
The city's unique structure, with its varying elevations, reveals a small, village-like "second town" nestled in the valley, one level below the cobblestone streets. This is the Grund district.
The view from the heights is like a painting, and the morning mist-covered landscape was particularly impressive.
The Bock Casemates and Their Quiet History
The Bock Casemates are a symbol of Luxembourg.
Part of the country's defense system as a fortified city, walking through the underground tunnels gave me a medieval feel in the cool air.
Though it's a tourist destination, it's quiet and a valuable place to experience the city's history and its history as a "protected nation."
A bakery paradise and a land of fine cuisine
Luxembourg's bread and pastries are truly delicious.
The croissants and pain au chocolat are on par with those in Paris.
Just having breakfast at a local bakery is enough to make me happy, and the bistros around town are also of a very high standard.
As the country itself is surrounded by French, German, and Belgian cultures, the cuisine is somehow a fusion that never gets boring.
The wonder of being at the crossroads of multiple languages
Luxembourgish, French, German, and English.
Four languages naturally coexisted in everyday life, making it a place where language transcends borders. I experienced the inherent diversity of Europe.
The bus driver spoke German, the cafe staff spoke French, and the person I asked for directions answered in English. All were correct and a part of everyday life in this country.
A small, yet profoundly rich country
While walking around Luxembourg, I felt that, despite its small size, it had everything.
Nature, parks, cultural facilities, historic architecture, fine cuisine, and a safe, welcoming atmosphere.
All of these things were condensed into one place, giving the impression of a carefully designed city-state.
Luxembourg has something you won't find in larger countries.
📌 Travel Tips for Luxembourg
Sneakers are essential when walking around the city: There are many ups and downs, so make sure you have a firm footing.
Public transportation is free: Domestic trains and buses are generally free. This is truly amazing.
Mornings are the best time to visit the bakery!: Go before the crowds to enjoy freshly baked bread.
Don't worry if you're worried about the language barrier: This is a country where any language is understood.
Finally
Luxembourg is a country that stirs the traveler's senses, making them realize, "Who knew a country like this existed in Europe?"
Next time, I'd like to visit the castles in the countryside and the villages along the Moselle River, famous for its wine.
I'd like to experience a little more of this country's "quiet depth."
