The Cantacuzino Castle, a neo‑Romanian mountain palace set against the stunning Bucegi Mountains in Bușteni, Romania—once the summer residence of Prince Gheorghe Grigore Cantacuzino (“Nababu”) and today a cultural and adventure destination.
Designed by architect Grigore Cerchez, the castle was built between 1901 and 1911 as a lavish mountain retreat—and notable for its early modern amenities like electricity, plumbing, and heating.
It showcases Neo‑Romanian and Brâncovenesc styles, merging Byzantine, Ottoman, Renaissance, and folk motifs—the hallmark of a cultural renaissance in early 20th‑century Romania.
