Must make an appointment through the organization's website, and travel by taxi. • Name: Eta Beta Social Cooperative / Spazio Battirame • Location (Main Facility): Via Battirame 11, 40138 Bologna (Roveri district) • Founding and Philosophy: Founded in 1992. Renovating an abandoned industrial site on the outskirts of town to create a comprehensive "smart village" including workshops, farms, cafes, and studios. Promoting social inclusion and sustainability through agriculture, crafts, and education. ⸻ 🛠 Main Facilities and Activities • Spazio Battirame: Utilizing a renovated old suburban house and abandoned factory. This community space features a café, farm, workshop studio, and open kitchen, combining craft, culinary, and educational programs.  • Eta Beta Bio: Grows and sells seasonal vegetables and fruits on a 4-hectare organic farm. It also supplies to local food cooperatives. Its production model is characterized by zero food waste and an environmentally conscious approach.  • Artigianato (Workshop): Develops rehabilitation and vocational support programs for people with disabilities through a variety of handicraft activities, including woodworking, glass, ceramics, and jewelry. The finished products are available for purchase in the shop. Head to the Roveri area along the Lenno River and follow the signs. As this is an industrial area, there is ample parking.  ⸻ ✍️ Visit Report (Summer 2017) A lush garden and an old-style house suddenly appear in a quiet industrial area. At the entrance, there's a small shop offering garden tools made from recycled materials and glassware. The staff were extremely friendly and courteous. A lunch plate featuring locally grown organic vegetables (approx. 40€) was served at a large communal table in the garden. It was a group banquet menu course. It included local wine, homemade jams and vegetable stews, local pasta, and desserts, and was both delicious and beautifully presented.   At the back of the garden, a small stream-like water feature, a herb garden, and a vegetable patch create a truly urban oasis. The sounds of production coming from the workshop behind the glass doors allowed us to experience the fusion of the local community, art, and agriculture. In the evening, a small music event and talk were held, allowing us to enjoy interacting with local people.
