Chiang Mai's Forest-Themed Michelin Recommended Restaurant: Black Forest Restaurant
Beyond Nimman Road or the Old City, as you move towards the outskirts by the river, you'll discover many forest-themed restaurants in Chiang Mai! Among them, located southwest of Chiang Mai Airport, the 'Black Forest Restaurant' has been honored with a Michelin recommendation, and the prices haven't skyrocketed because of it. It's definitely worth experiencing firsthand!
This restaurant is surrounded by tropical rainforest, with towering lush trees in sight, offering a pristine and natural beauty, accompanied by the occasional chirping of insects and birds. The restaurant's architecture is also quite unique, resembling a hollow mushroom house where people dine under the canopy, enjoying the greenery of the forest and the shimmering lake, creating a very pleasant atmosphere.
The menu features traditional Thai cuisine, but the presentation incorporates many natural elements, making it both photogenic and delicious. Dishes like pineapple fried rice, Tom Yum Goong, and crispy roast pork are classic must-tries. While the food is good but not extraordinary, the rainforest-themed dining environment is what truly surprises and delights!
🕰️ Business Hours: 1100-1500, 1700-2130
🏖️ Atmosphere/Facilities: Tropical Rainforest Natural Style
📍 Address: Ratchapruek Rd, Nong Kwai, Hang Dong District, Chiang Mai 50230, Thailand
Listen to live bands and sing karaoke at The View Village, a waterfront restaurant in Chiang Mai.
The View Village is a lakeside restaurant in Chiang Mai with stunning night views. It features live band performances and architecture reminiscent of waterfront homes, adorned with colorful lights that create a beautiful and romantic atmosphere, perfect for photos. The restaurant also offers karaoke rooms, making it an ideal spot for dates.
The menu primarily consists of Thai cuisine and seafood stir-fries, with over a hundred options to choose from. You can enjoy live music while sipping on beer, which is quite a treat. Located by the riverside, the cool breeze makes it a pleasant experience, though mosquitoes can be a bit of a nuisance outdoors.
The View Village is not located on Nimman Road or in the Old City but is closer to the south of Chiang Mai Airport. It’s about a ten-minute drive away and is quite popular among local young people. There are frequent live performances by singers, making it a hot spot.
Jing Jai Market is a must-visit! The largest arts and crafts market in Chiang Mai.
Jing Jai Market, the most famous arts and crafts market in Chiang Mai, is truly a must-visit. It is the largest arts and crafts market in the city. On weekdays, it primarily serves as an organic farmers' market, but on weekends, it transforms into a massive weekend market with various themed events held periodically. It is a popular spot for tourists, always bustling with crowds on weekends.
The entire area is filled with numerous stalls. At the center is 'good goods,' a curated store by Thailand's leading department store chain, Central Group. This store focuses on sustainable local development, emphasizing 'one village, one product.' They collaborate with local artisans from Thailand's 77 provinces to create handcrafted items that blend local elements with trendy designs. It's a great place to shop and explore.
While Jing Jai Market has many stalls with high-quality products, the prices can be relatively high, so it's worth comparing prices. It's recommended to visit early in the morning to avoid the large crowds and complex layout, which can make shopping tiring.
Coconut Market: A Weekend-Only Event in Chiang Mai
Coconut Market, a weekend-only event in Chiang Mai, is located about a 15-minute drive northeast of the Old City. Its main feature is the rows of tall, neatly arranged coconut trees and the green canals between them, giving it a very rustic countryside feel. The market is set up with bamboo chairs and pavilions among the coconut groves, making it feel like a tropical vacation spot.
The Coconut Market is not as large as the Jing Jai Market, and it attracts fewer tourists. The market stalls offer food, drinks, small goods, clothing, and more. It's a small and pleasant place to stroll around, and you can plan to stay for about an hour. If you get tired, you can rest in the pavilions by the canals, which is quite relaxing.
A quiet four-star resort in Chiang Mai: Yantarasri Resort
#JanuaryGoodPlaces2025
The four-star resort hotel "Yantarasri Resort" in Chiang Mai is close to the city area of Nimman Road, but it is quiet in the bustling city. The Thai Nalan-style layout and the garden swimming pool with lush plants make people feel like they are in the exotic nature, and their mood will relax unconsciously.
The room rates at Yantarasri Resort are very affordable. Even if you stay on the weekend, a 34-square-meter deluxe twin room with a discount and breakfast included costs less than 1,500 Thai baht. What a great price!
The room is spacious and comfortable, with standard Thai Nalan style, very simple and elegant, and the environment is quite quiet. If there is a disadvantage, it is that the wooden building has poor sound insulation. The sounds outside the window can be heard quite clearly. The croaking of frogs, the chirping of birds and the sound of airplanes during the day become disturbing noises in the middle of the night.
Although it is a flaw, it is not a big deal. The hotel is also well located. It is only a ten-minute walk to the Nimman Road business district, which is lined with restaurants, shopping centers, coffee shops, and massage parlors. It is convenient to go anywhere and it is cheap. It is quite recommended.

A Hidden Beef Restaurant in Chiang Mai
Who here loves beef? Let's head up north to Chiang Mai and visit a hidden beef restaurant located on the roadside in the Chang Klan area. The exterior of the restaurant looks ordinary, but inside it's warm and charming. We had a 300G ribeye steak, which was grilled to perfection. No wonder the place is packed! We also ordered beef fat fried rice to go with it, and it was delicious. The restaurant also offers single-dish menus like stir-fried basil beef. If you're a beef lover, you must try it!

I will stay here again next time I visit Chiang Mai | Bella Nara Hotel
Bella Nara Hotel is a local 5-star hotel in Chiang Mai. The decor is very classical, with a pure white exterior wall and black wooden windows that have a Southeast Asian style.
The hotel is also in a great location, just a 10-minute walk from Nimmanhaemin Road, the busiest commercial street in downtown Chiang Mai. The exterior is an old building, but once you walk through the archway, you will find a whole new world.
The hotel building surrounds the pool, with parasols and loungers on one side of the pool. Sitting and relaxing in the afternoon, you will immediately feel like you are on vacation.
Rooms that are not close to the main road are quieter, and there are trees nearby, making it feel like you are in a small garden. Old wooden chairs can be seen everywhere in the corridor, which is very in line with classical aesthetics.
The moon lamp in the room is paired with a dark brown round table and sofa. The high beam design makes the space feel very spacious, and there is even an echo when you speak. The single bed is only 90 cm wide, which is quite small. If you want a more spacious bed, it is recommended to choose a double room. The bedding is simple black and white, and the wooden bed design is also very simple and elegant.
Wat Chedi Luang, the most revered and popular temple among the six major temples in Chiang Mai.
Within the ancient city of Chiang Mai, there are several large-scale temples. Besides Wat Phra Singh near the weekend night market, Wat Chedi Luang is the most popular. It combines three distinct styles of temples: Lanna, Indian, and Sri Lankan, which were later merged to form the current Wat Chedi Luang, also known as the 'Temple of the Great Stupa.' It is the most famous among the six major temples in Chiang Mai.
In the temple complex of Wat Chedi Luang, the central structure is a Lanna-style square stupa with a pointed top, primarily built with stone and stucco. It is adorned with ceramic and bronze sculptures and has a history of over 600 years. It is the tallest and most revered temple structure in the ancient city of Chiang Mai.
Admission requires a ticket, priced at 50 THB for adults. At the entrance, there is a sacred tree, a towering and majestic Dipterocarpus tree that is over a hundred years old. Other notable attractions within Wat Chedi Luang include the city pillar, the great stupa, and the reclining Buddha, all of which are worth seeing.

Tenyuu Chiang Mai, Japanese Omakase-style cuisine.
Tenyuu Chiang Mai is a premium Japanese restaurant located on Sripoom Road, opposite Wat Lok Molee. The restaurant is renowned for its Omakase, which uses fresh and high-quality ingredients. The Omakase menu comes in various price ranges, starting at approximately 3,499++ THB. It includes a variety of sushi and sashimi dishes made from premium ingredients such as Otoro, the fattiest part of the tuna that melts in your mouth, Uni, fresh sea urchin roe that is sweet and creamy, Lobster Sashimi, sweet and bouncy fresh lobster meat, Kagoshima A5 Wagyu, A5 grade Kagoshima beef that melts in your mouth, and Ikura, salmon roe that is slightly salty and sweet, making it a delightful chew.
For those who enjoy Japanese Omakase-style dining, it is worth the price, especially for the special experience provided by the chef who recommends and arranges the menu in sequence to offer an authentic taste. The chefs here are friendly and can answer questions about the ingredients. If you have any dietary restrictions or allergies, such as raw food or certain shellfish, you can inform them in advance. If you are visiting Chiang Mai, I highly recommend this place.

A Delightful Moose-Themed Hotel in Chiang Mai
The Moose Hotel Chiangmai is a charming, moose-themed hotel that exudes a playful and whimsical atmosphere. Located on Nimman Road and near the Central Festival shopping center, this hotel is adorned with colorful moose decorations from the lobby to the rooms, restaurant, and swimming pool. It's an ideal choice for families with children.
During this stay, we chose the branch near Central Festival. The hotel offers a free shuttle service to the shopping center, making it very convenient for shopping and strolling around. We stayed in a deluxe room, which is about 30 square meters in size. The room was spacious and comfortable, and we were pleasantly surprised to find a cute moose plush toy on the bed upon arrival.
Although the hotel is not located in the Old City or on Nimman Road, getting around Chiang Mai is easy and affordable with Bolt. You can simply call a car to go wherever you want. Staying slightly outside the main areas means better room rates and quality, so it's a matter of personal preference.

Great value ultra HD hotel in Chiang Mai City.
Located right in the center of Chiang Mai, the hotel is conveniently situated within walking distance to the weekend night market!
If you want to do a spa, there are several options within walking distance as well!
The hotel has a swimming pool, although it's not very big, there aren't many people. There are showers and restrooms near the lobby for convenience after swimming.
We chose a room with a bathtub and balcony, which was quite spacious. The hotel also includes breakfast, which we really appreciated. The menu changes every two days, and you can order as much as you want. If you're in a hurry to catch a flight, you can even take away up to three sets per person. It's really considerate!!!
💰 Average cost per person: Around $1300 for 3 nights! Super worth it.
