Irresistible hidden menu for soft shell crab lover in KK 👀👀
#celebrateit
Been a customer to this cafe in Kota Kemuning for ages since I used to be teaching classes and working out nearby.
Two food items that really kept me coming back are pesto and aglio olio pasta. The pesto packs some intense herby, earthy and nutty fragrance, which truly hits my soft spot; the aglio olio was locally improvised and incredibly flavorful.
Now it’s the trick. On the menu there’s only one pasta with soft shell crab, which is a spicy lemongrassy kinda pasta. It tastes good too, but was too fiberish with the lemongrass residue in the sauce to my liking. So if you would like soft shell crab to pair with other pasta, just let the staff know you’d like to have soft shell crab add-on. It’s nowhere stated in the menu, coz it was what I personally requested many years back, and it’s in the system ever since. The price is updated to RM13 now if not mistaken. The size of the soft shell crab depends a lil on luck tho. Sometimes it’s as large as shown in the picture, and it’s pretty fresh without much of the seafood stinky smell !
As for the coffee, go for Driver instead of the pricier house blend, which makes lil sense coz it’s in fact darker roasted and supposedly of a lower quality bean. And Driver is already full-bodied and bold enough to Malaysian palate.
On the other hand, the watermelon rose cake tastes good too. That said, I don’t quite understand why this cake has to be made this tall (it’s not exactly apparent from the pic how disproportionately tall it is). Not only it makes it harder to enjoy the cake without tumbling it all over the place, it also makes it almost impossible to put all the intended flavors into one single bite, preventing a full user experience.
Almost all cakes from this place are good actually, though priced slightly on the higher side. My sister enjoy their salted egg croissant too: not the flakiest, but it comes with a lot of tasty salted egg goodness.
