The Kiss by Francesco Hayez at Brera Gallery
The Pinacoteca di Brera ("Brera Art Gallery") is the main public gallery for paintings in Milan, Italy. It contains a collection of Italian paintings from the thirteenth to the twentieth century, an outgrowth of the cultural program of the Brera Academy, which shares the site in the Palazzo Brera.
The Palazzo Brera was initially a convent, passed to the Jesuits (1572), then underwent a radical rebuilding by Francesco Maria Richini (1627–28) into the palace it is today. When the Jesuits were disbanded in 1773, the palazzo remained the seat of the astronomical Observatory and the Braidense National Library founded by the Jesuits. In 1774 were added the herbarium of the new botanical garden.
The access to the botanical gardens is free and they are really worth it.
The Romantic era witnessed the triumph of academic history painting, guided at the Academy by Francesco Hayez.
Overall, there are many famous paintings to see and I would advise to stop for a tour.
Be prepared for a lot of religious themed paintings though.

A hidden gem in Milan! Travel back to the Renaissance in an instant~.
As an art lover, I was amazed by the Pinacoteca di Brera on my first visit to Milan! It's a treasure trove of Italian art, with a collection that rivals the Vatican Museums.
⛱️Must-see attractions:
- Raphael's sketch of The School of Athens, less well-known than the original in the Vatican but just as wonderful
- Caravaggio's Supper at Emmaus, a classic work by the master of light and shadow
- Mantegna's Lamentation of Christ, the perspective is amazing!
- The Brera Courtyard, perfect for photos, with a strong artistic vibe
🌄Travel tips:
📍Address: Via Brera, 28, 20121 Milano MI, Italy
⏰Opening hours:
Tuesday–Sunday: 8:30 am–7:15 pm (last entry at 6:40 pm)
Closed on Mondays
💰Tickets: Regular tickets €15, youth tickets (under 26) €2

🏨Accommodation tips:
I recommend staying in the Brera district, the most artistic area of Milan.
- There are many boutiques and cafes nearby
- Walking distance to the Piazza del Duomo
- Plenty of nightlife
💗Other tips:
- Allow 2–3 hours for your visit
- You can rent an audio guide in Chinese, which is very detailed
- It's busier on weekends, so I recommend going when it opens in the morning
- Photography is not allowed in the gallery, but it is in the courtyard
- Remember to bring your student ID for a discount
- There's a great gelato shop just to the right of the exit!
This hidden gem is a must-see in Milan! It's not as famous as the Uffizi, but it's definitely worth a visit. The whole building exudes a strong Renaissance vibe, and you'll feel like you've traveled back to that glorious era. Remember to do your homework in advance and learn about the key works to make your visit more interesting! 🎨✨

Milan | A dreamy intersection of fashion and history.
| A dreamy intertwining of fashion and history. Dear friends 👫, there are great discounts on air tickets from Germany to Milan. I sincerely recommend you to seize this opportunity and experience the charm of this fashionable capital in person. 😉
1️⃣When you come to Milan, you must not miss the Milan Cathedral. We can go directly to the Alipay channel and the queue time will be greatly shortened. When you see this majestic building with your own eyes, the feeling of shock cannot be described in words. I racked my brain and I can't think of more suitable words to describe its majestic beauty. 😍
2️⃣Next, you can go to Brera Gallery for a stroll. If you happen to go on the first Sunday of every month, you can visit for free, but be sure to go early or the free tickets will go out quickly. 😉
3️⃣In addition, there are other attractions such as the Gate of Peace and Sforzesco Castle. Everyone can plan smartly according to their own time schedule. 🤗
4️⃣ Regarding the transportation in Milan, you can buy a Milan ticket package when traveling in the city. There are many options such as 90-minute tickets, day tickets, and three-day tickets. Packages with day tickets and above can take the subway, bus and tram, which is very convenient. 👍
5️⃣Speaking of food, I come from Germany, and there is no Chinatown where I live in Germany. Milan happens to have Chinatown, where there are milk tea shops such as Chamoido and Coco, as well as hot pot restaurants and barbecue restaurants. I would especially recommend the "Chaotianmen" Chongqing buffet hotpot, which costs 23.9 euros for lunch and 28.9 euros for dinner. I really didn’t expect that there are crabs and super delicious fried rice here, and the service attitude is also very good! Everyone must try it. 😋
6️⃣Milan is really full of leisure and is worthy of being a fashion capital. I feel that everyone here is very fashionable and avant-garde, which makes people’s eyes bright. 💕
Dear friends, come to Milan to start a romantic journey of fashion and history. I believe you will fall in love with this charming city. 💖

1. Milan Cathedral
Located in the heart of Milan in the Cathedral Square, it is a symbolic building of Milan, with a total of 135 spires, each topped with a statue. The carvings and spires are characteristic of Gothic architecture, making it the Gothic church with the most statues in the world, with over 6000 marble statues.
2. Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II
The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is a covered arcade street named after the king who unified Italy, Vittorio Emanuele II, and is considered one of the most beautiful commercial arcades in Europe. The arcade was designed in imitation of the classical commercial arcades of Paris, with two intersecting galleries forming a cross shape, 198 meters long from north to south and 105 meters long from east to west. The two glass-roofed corridors meet in the central octagonal space, topped by a glass dome. Sunlight shines through the glass roof, casting a divine golden glow on the exquisite reliefs and murals below.
3. Brera Art Gallery
This art gallery is one of the most important collections of Italian paintings and is a representative painting gallery in Milan, mainly featuring works from the Lombard and Venetian schools of the 15th to 18th centuries. The Brera Art Gallery was founded in 1809 by Napoleon I. It initially exhibited some famous paintings from the collection of the Milan Academy of Fine Arts, and the exhibits gradually increased, mainly featuring Renaissance paintings, as well as some works by Dutch painters.
