One hasn’t come to UK until he made a visit to Oxford
#2024mapped
Being home for one of the most prestigious university in the world, Oxford is also the easiest+cheapest city to visit from London: when planned ahead (even a few days would suffice), one-way trip costs as low as £5 and takes around 2hrs.
That also means, Oxford is a perfect destination to do a day trip from London, instead of having to drag along some suitcases to a new hotel. That said, there is an unique accommodation option to stay in the university and wake up to have breakfast in the Great Hall featured in Harry Potter movies; so if you managed to get a slot (usually fully booked many months ahead), that’s a chance not to miss.
Attraction-wise, I personally find Bodleian Library and Radcliffe Square most mesmerising, but really, the whole university town is not huge, but every corner is antique and could make an excellent photo spot.
In terms of museums, most museum (if not all) are free-entry (but ticket might be needed), and natural history museum is my favourite.

This library (Bodleian Library) or to be exact at the Divinity School was used as infirmary in the Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone after his confrontation with Voldemort.
Walk through the historic University, City of Oxford and find the famous film locations inside the colleges that were featured in many of the early Harry Potter movies and learn about the places across the city that inspired the movies.
I was lucky to visit the library during a function as I was informed that the purplish light was only on during special occasion. Great opportunity to be there indeed!

Oxford, with its rich history and stunning architecture, is a perfect destination for a family getaway. Known as the "City of Dreaming Spires," Oxford offers a blend of educational and cultural experiences that captivate both adults and children alike. Our visit began at the Bodleian Library, one of the oldest libraries in Europe and a treasure trove of knowledge. Walking through its hallowed halls, surrounded by ancient manuscripts and the scent of old books, we were transported to a different era. The awe-inspiring architecture, with its intricate ceilings and grand spaces, made it a fascinating experience for all ages, sparking curiosity about the centuries of learning that have taken place within its walls.
From the library, we ventured into the heart of Oxford’s colleges, each one more beautiful than the last. Strolling through the quads and cloisters of these historic institutions, we marveled at the timeless beauty of the buildings, some dating back to the 13th century. Christ Church College, with its stunning chapel and dining hall, was a particular highlight, especially for younger visitors who recognized it as a filming location for the Harry Potter films.
