This Bangkok Pillar Temple is opposite the Grand Palace, but the Chinese sign at the door here is Bangkok City God Temple, not Bangkok Pillar Temple. Lak Muang (Bangkok Pillar Temple), located in a beautiful building, is a representative of Thai classic architecture.
The wooden pillar was originally installed on April 21, 1782, on the advice of an astrologer. This place now serves as a stabilizing force and a symbol of national peace and prosperity. This was the first building built for the new capital Bangkok after King Rama I of the Chakri dynasty moved the capital from Thonburi to Bangkok. The sacred pillar was rebuilt several times after that. The last time was in 1982 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Bangkok’s founding of the capital.
The most famous thing is that there is a Buddha statue in the temple called "Prophet Buddha". After worshiping Buddha and gods, whether the wishes made will come true is a question that many friends are particularly concerned about. Tell him your wish, and if it comes true, you will be able to hold up the Buddha statue.
If you feel that the Buddha statue is too heavy to hold up, then your wish this time will not come true.

Bangkok City Pillar Shrine
.. Located next to Sanam Luang, near Wat Phra Sri Rattana Satsadaram
.. Built in 2325 during the reign of King Rama I, His Majesty ordered a ceremony to raise the city pillar, a Chaipruk wood pillar with sandalwood outside, the top of the pillar in the shape of a lotus bud, on Sunday, April 21, 2325 at the victory point in the middle of the new city, which His Majesty named "Krung Rattanakosin Intha Ayutthaya" or later known as "Krung Thep Maha Nakhon".
.. Until the reign of King Rama IV, His Majesty graciously ordered the construction of a new city pillar to replace the old one that had deteriorated over time. It was a teak wood pillar with a core inside, with Chaipruk wood on the top in the shape of a mantra.

A Journey of Wishes at the City Pillar Shrine: The Root of Vientiane
Located near the Grand Palace in Bangkok, the City Pillar Shrine is a symbol of Thailand's history and spirit. Upon entering the temple, one is immediately enveloped by a solemn and reverent atmosphere. The city pillar, standing at the center of the temple, serves as the foundation of the Thai dynasty's prosperity, with its ancient wood grain telling tales of centuries past.
The base of the pillar is adorned with sacred carvings, and the gold leaf surrounding it glistens in the sunlight. Devotees earnestly offer flowers and incense, praying for national peace and personal well-being. Following the crowd, I clasped my hands together and closed my eyes for a moment, feeling an inexplicable sense of calm, as if the ancient building's aura had permeated my being.
The temple also showcases exquisite Thai handicrafts, with intricate murals on the walls depicting the myths and history of the nation's founding. The spacious and serene courtyard outside, lush with greenery, forms a subtle contrast with the solemnity inside the temple.
As I exited the temple, I couldn't help but look back at the city pillar. It is not only a spiritual symbol of Thailand but also a witness to history, guarding this land and its generations of people. I felt that this visit was truly worthwhile; the City Pillar Shrine is a place where one can find peace of mind and spirit.

Praying for blessings at the Bangkok City Pillar Shrine
The City Pillar Shrine of Bangkok is a shrine built with the establishment of Rattanakosin as the capital. Before building a city, a ceremony to raise the city pillar must be held in an important strategic location to bring good fortune to the city that will be built. Many people come to pay homage for good fortune. It is easily accessible and is located opposite Wat Phra Kaew.

City Pillar Shrine is one of numerous Buddhist worship places in Bangkok. It is not a temple but, as its name says, a shrine, and as such popular among the local people. City Pillar Shrine is not at all worthless even from the tourist point of view, so if you happen to be somewhere near the shrine and not too busy, take your moment for a visit.
Must-visit!

It is said that the first and most important urban pillar in Thailand was in Bangkok, which was erected by Phra Buddha Yodfa Chulaloke, the first king of the Chakri dynasty, in 1782. On the auspicious day and time of April 21, June 21, 1978, under the guidance of the king's astronomer, the wooden stake was driven underground.
The government ordered in 1992 that every provincial capital in Thailand should have a pillar shrine, but there are still some provinces that do not have one.
Rumors have it that some people were worshipped and even buried alive under the city pillars to become guardians

Bangkok City Pillars Shrine
The City Pillar Shrine. According to an old Thai Tradition, a city pillar had to be built upon the establishment of a new city. King Rama I had the Bangkok city pillar erected near the Temple of the Emerald Buddha on Sunday, 21 April, 1782, with the city’s horoscope inside. The original pillar was made of cassia wood known as Chaiyaphruek, measuring 75 cm. in diameter and 27 cm. high. In the reign of King Rama IV, the old dilapidated pillar was replaced by a new one made of the same kind of wood, measuring 270 cm. high and standing on a base of 175 cm. wide, sheltered by a Prang-shaped shrine as it appears today. The shrine also houses images of protective deities including Thepharak, Chaopho Ho Klong, Phra Suea Mueang, Phra Song Mueang, Chaopho Chetakhup and Phra Kan Chai Si.

passed the National Pillar Temple on the way to the Thai Ministry of Defence. Although the temple is not big, the significance is still very important. The pillars in the temple represent the gods who protect Bangkok and attract many people to pray. When the time came, the main entrance was locked. We went in from the side door, and the security guard did not stop us, so it should be feasible. Next to the Thai Ministry of Defence, we don't want to worry about anything.
Wangjiatian Square Sanam Luang
is being repaired when it comes to Wangjiatian Square, so there is no way to enter it, only to look outside. It is like a huge playground. The Thai royal family will hold some important celebrations and events here. Usually open to the Thai people for opportunities and rest and entertainment. Just beside the Grand Palace, you can visit the Grand Palace.

Opposite the splendid Grand Palace in Thailand, there is a highly contrasting Bangkok national pillar temple. The plain appearance is like a fresh and refined woman, and people can't help but be curious. There is no need for tickets here. Every holiday, there are citizens to pray, and the incense continues. In the south of the Grand Palace, there is the largest reclining Buddha temple in Thailand. There is a reclining Buddha with a length of 46 meters and a height of 15 meters. There is also a "Buddha kitten" in the temple. There is no excitement in the Grand Palace, but a bit more tranquility. After a leisurely afternoon, basking in the sun and walking in the temple, admiring the reclining Buddha, there is indeed a kind of refined and comfortable.
