The exhibition "Lines Across Paper: Transcending Borders - Anczelowitz Art x Awagami Paper" is an art exhibition that reflects the power of washi paper as a bridge between the past and the present. This exhibition showcases the unique capabilities of Awagami paper as an artistic medium, and emphasizes the importance of preserving traditional craftsmanship and incorporating them into new ideas in today's art world through a collaboration between Craig Anczelowitz and Awagami Factory, a Japanese paper factory with a history of over 300 years. Craig Anczelowitz is an artist who grew up in New York, a city of vibrant and diverse art. When he encountered washi paper from Awagami Factory, his passion for the material drove him to explore the beauty of paper filled with stories from the past and use it as a medium to convey the concept of "Transcending Borders" or crossing the borders of art, culture, and time. Awagami Factory is located in Tokushima Prefecture, Japan. And it is the center of the art of washi paper, which has been passed down for over 300 years through eight generations of the Fujimori family. Here, the traditional washi paper-making method, which has a history of over 1,300 years since the 7th century, is still preserved. Awagami washi paper is made from high-quality natural plant fibers such as Kozo (jute), Mitsumata and Gampi, which makes the paper produced from this factory stronger and longer-lasting than general paper, making it sought after by artists and designers around the world. This exhibition takes us to explore the potential of washi paper through collage and mixed media art. Craig Anczelowitz presents a variety of techniques in arranging Awagami paper to create dimensions and stories. Each piece is not just a newly created image, but a revival of time-tested paper, bringing it back to life. #InsomniaInExhibition "O.R.G.Y 2024" 0.R.G.Y (Our Revolution for Greater Youth), a project founded in 2017 by Adisak Jirasakkesom and Supakorn Buareun, founders of IWANNABANGKOK©, has now evolved into a platform to promote emerging artists to showcase their diverse talents. While small, every inch of ATT19 exudes a unique charm, the kind of beauty that instantly captivates. The antiques and vintage areas bear the marks of time, reminiscent of past glories. Here, I felt like I was transported through time and space, conversing with fragments of history. Securely placed within the art space, the old exhibits are no longer merely relics of the past, but instead create a fascinating fusion of modern design and thought. The blend of traditional and contemporary styles is truly breathtaking! The art exhibitions on the second floor of the exhibition area change regularly. Currently, a century-old Thai jewelry company is showcasing its works, a topic I'll write about in a separate article. Each piece here whispers like the heartfelt voice of the artisans, telling untold stories. Standing before each piece, I can almost hear the colors breathe and feel the pulse of the lines.
