Exploring the Stunning D400 Highway and Kas Town
Already on the stunning D400 highway, why not visit the charming town of Kas?
This is the same D400 highway that National Geographic named one of the world's top ten most beautiful coastal roads!
No filters needed—the view with your own eyes is even more breathtaking than the photos!
The D400 highway connects Antalya and Fethiye, two of Turkey's most popular seaside vacation cities 🏖️, with the picturesque town of Kas nestled in between.
If you can only choose one of the two cities:
🔹 For paragliding, hiking, island hopping, and extreme sports—choose Fethiye.
🔹 For a relaxing vacation, exploring ancient ruins, wandering through old towns, and experiencing a blend of history and modernity—choose Antalya.
🔶 Our route this time:
Antalya—Kas—Antalya.
Fethiye is definitely worth visiting, but in winter, with temperatures only around 5-10°C ❄️, many activities aren't available. So, we opted for Antalya. Along the way, it's half mountains, half sea, with the Mediterranean's mesmerizing blue stretching endlessly. You simply can't take enough photos!
📍 Kas Town
A colorful fairytale town just 2 kilometers from a Greek island, where the Aegean Sea is always in sight.
You can sit at the seaside ancient theater and enjoy a free sunset performance, pet some cats, relax at a café with a sea view, or take a leisurely evening stroll through the town's market—a perfect slow-paced city walk.
🏰 Antiphellos Ancient Theater
As Kas's most significant historical site, this seaside ancient theater is perched on a hillside at the town's edge, overlooking the vast Mediterranean. It's one of Turkey's best-preserved ancient theaters. Originally built during the Greek period, it was later expanded and renovated during Roman times.
🌇 Highly recommend visiting this ancient theater at sunset. It's about a 15-minute walk from the town center—very close! The scenery along the way is stunning, with plenty of picturesque spots to stop and take photos 📸.
🔜 Walk towards the theater, and about 50 meters in, you'll spot bougainvillea—perfect for photos.
🔜 Head down the stairs to reach the 🌊 crystal-clear seaside.
🔜 Keep walking uphill to reach the ancient theater. Climb to the top steps for a panoramic view of the sea and harbor.
In the evening, there are often musical performances here. As the sun sets, the Mediterranean glimmers with golden light, and free-spirited singers strum their guitars 🎸, singing Turkish folk songs.
In that moment, time seems to pause in a golden glow, and your heart feels gently illuminated.
