#holidayitinerary Cathedral Cove near Hahei is straight-up dreamy. You walk through bush trails with ocean peeks along the way, and then, you step onto this beach with golden sand and that giant stone archway that looks like it came out of a movie. The walk from the car park takes about 30 to 40 minutes one way, with a few hills but nothing too crazy. Totally doable in flip-flops, but sneakers are better. We went early to beat the crowds and had the beach almost to ourselves for a bit. The water was clear and perfect for a quick swim. There are no shops or toilets down at the beach, so hit the facilities at the top before you head down and bring everything you need. You can also kayak in or take a boat tour if hiking’s not your thing. It’s super popular for a reason, but still feels magical once you're standing under that massive rock arch.

#holidayitinerary Huka Falls near Lake Taupo is honestly wild. It's not super tall or anything, but the amount of water thundering through that narrow canyon is just insane. You can hear it way before you even see it. The color of the water is this bright icy blue that looks almost fake, especially when the sun’s out. Super cool spot if you're into nature that feels kind of intense. The walk to the main viewing platform is short and easy, just a few minutes from the car park. If you’ve got more time, there’s a longer walking track that runs along the Waikato River, really chill and shady. We didn’t do the jet boat but saw people flying past the falls on it and it looked epic. No entry fee, and there are toilets and a little kiosk nearby for snacks. Definitely a quick but awesome stop if you’re in the Taupo area. Huka’s loud, powerful, and totally worth the detour.

Hobbiton, located in the Waikato region of New Zealand's North Island, is where the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movies were filmed! The sets remain intact and are now a popular tourist destination! Guided tours are available here. Because it's not particularly large, tours last about two and a half hours, including time for a beer at the end. It's quite popular and reservations fill up quickly, so we recommend booking early once you've set your dates. The set, blending in with nature, is adorable, and you'll feel like you're a Hobbit! Surrounded by New Zealand's unique natural beauty, you might even spot sheep 🐑 lol. Good news! After more than a year of waiting, the Blue Spring Trail in Waikato on the North Island has partially reopened from December 5! So if you're planning a trip to New Zealand, be sure to add it to your travel list~📑 ⚠️The Leslie Rd entrance to the trail is open, and the entire trail is expected to be fully open by February next year. - Blue Spring is known for its crystal-clear waters and is one of the purest water sources in the world.
