It is declared as a National Cultural Treasure by the Philippine government in 1973 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site under the collective group of Baroque Churches of the Philippines in 1993.
Portions of the church were damaged by two major earthquakes. In 1973, it was designated as a National Cultural Treasure by the Philippine government. Malacañang of the North
Antique house?? This was the resident of former President Ferdinand Marcos during his reign, it was found in Paoay Ilocos Norte, which now converted into historic Museum and now famously known as Malacañang of the North. During our road trip in Ilocos region, 8-10 hours drive from Manila, we drop by and see this beautiful house. Almost all the appliances were preserved, most of the wood and textiles are made of Narra, the national tree of the Philippines and the windows are really the old style. It is a two-story mansion overlooking the Paoay Lake, and consists of seven (supposedly a lucky number for Marcos) rooms, with each room having a theme of historical events from the Marcos era: Study, Agriculture, Diplomacy, OFW (overseas Filipino workers), Culture, Nation Building and Family.
