2024 New Delhi Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in November)
One of the most populated and bustling locations in India, New Delhi is among the oldest established cities in recorded history. Thought to have been originally constructed over five thousand years ago. Delhi has as many signs of ancient life as any other of the world’s most culturally vibrant locations. New Delhi tempts visitors with the promise of being accompanied by one of the most unique cultures in the world. With pristine examples of architecture, tradition and artwork from various dynasties and religions, it’s amazing to think that these ancient treasures survived in a city that has been destroyed and rebuilt eleven different times. Quito Minar and its Monuments and the Red Fort complex just to name a couple. Tourist attractions like zoos and shopping centers abound, but what really makes New Delhi stand out is the amazing ambiance felt while within her limits. Maybe that feeling is just the undeniably scorching heat of this area, but it's also possible that the thousands of years worth of history might be playing a factor, too.

India | The Lodhi, New Delhi: The only rebranded Aman hotel.
| The Lodhi, New Delhi: The only rebranded Aman hotel.
After a four-year contract, the former Aman New Delhi was rebranded as The Lodhi in 2013 (now under LHW) and is managed by the hotel owner. As the only rebranded Aman hotel in the world, the Aman design is still a highlight of the hotel, even though it is no longer a luxury hotel.
Although it is a city hotel, it has a holiday atmosphere, surrounded by seven acres of gardens and golf courses. The hotel building is like a wall, like an Indian palace fortress, locking in a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. Of course, the hotel is only a few kilometers away from many city attractions and bustling streets.
The hotel rooms range from deluxe rooms with private terraces to two-bedroom suites, with city and golf course views. The biggest highlight is the mini swimming pool in the room, where you can enjoy leisure time without leaving the house.
Must-visit attractions for first-time visitors to New Delhi, India.
Day 1
🛬Arrive in New Delhi via Hong Kong
Jaipur Day 2-3
1⃣Amber Fort⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Riding up the mountain🏍+ taking a jeep🚗 down the mountain is a super cool experience!! The city wall is similar to the Great Wall, and the interior decoration is extremely luxurious🏫 and beautiful. Many people take wedding photos📸 here. In my opinion, it is the number one attraction along with the Taj Mahal. It's super photogenic😍. I recommend wearing a colorful skirt for photos📸.
2⃣Jal Mahal⭐️⭐️
A magical building with two floors above water and three floors underwater. The construction method is super wonderful, but you can only view it from a distance and cannot enter. The experience is average.
3⃣Jantar Mantar⭐️⭐️⭐️
I have to admire the wisdom of ancient Indians. Here you can see a timer that is accurate to the minute and second, and it can still accurately measure modern time⏱.
4⃣City Palace⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The palace is located in the Pink City of Jaipur. The museum inside displays the items used by the nobles of the Mughal dynasty. It's super photogenic. I recommend wearing a solid color (white) skirt for photos.
5⃣Hawa Mahal⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A five-story pink palace located on the main street of Jaipur. It was mainly used by the queen and concubines to watch the market outside. It's super photogenic when taking photos across the street, but it's sad that it really shows the low status of women at that time and their boring life.
6⃣Tripolia Bazaar⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The market outside that the queen and concubines watched is the Tripolia Bazaar🛍, which is ten kilometers in radius. It's the busiest and most lively place in Jaipur. It's also a place where everyone can boldly practice bargaining💰. The way Indians do business is really unique.
7⃣Birla Mandir⭐️⭐️⭐️
The pure white building is very eye-catching in the Pink City. Many people worship the patron saint here. The exterior is in the style of Hindu architecture, and the interior is Christian stained glass. It's very special.
8⃣Chand Baori⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
An underground palace with eleven floors built in the 9th century. Thousands of steps surround the natural well in the middle. Although you can't go down now, it's still shocking to take photos with a wide-angle lens.
9⃣Goddess Temple⭐️⭐️
The "Happy God" temple next to the underground palace. The locals will bless you and put a red dot on your forehead.
🔟Keoladeo National Park⭐️⭐️⭐️
It used to be a hunting ground for Indian nobles, and now it has become one of the main habitats for a large number of waterfowl and birds in the north to overwinter. Here you can see the endangered Siberian crane, Indian stork, etc.
1⃣1⃣Fatehpur Sikri⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A building from the period of Akbar the Great of the Mughal Empire in India. The red sandstone building is super spectacular. Although it was once the capital for a short time, its beauty is no less than that of Agra Fort. Walking around the castle and taking photos at random are the best photos.
Stop searching! This is the place to go for Mid-Autumn Festival. Come and copy your homework.
🌟【Tips for entering India】🌟
First of all, visa is the most important thing! Remember to apply for an e-visa online in advance, it's easy and convenient. 🛂Smile when entering the country, the customs are friendly! 😄Currency exchange is essential, bring some rupees, worry-free shopping~💰
🏛️【Must-see attractions & ways to play in Delhi】🏛️
1️⃣ Qutub Minar and Humayun's Tomb🕌: Feel the glory of the Mughal Empire, the silhouette in the sunset, beautiful to suffocation!
2️⃣ Red Fort🏰: Walk into the scroll of history, explore the luxurious life of the emperor, don't forget to wear traditional costumes to take pictures!
3️⃣ Jama Masjid🕌: One of the largest mosques in the world, feel the devotion of the believers and the magnificence of the architecture.
4️⃣ Lotus Temple🌸: The perfect fusion of modernity and religion, feel the cleansing of the soul in the tranquility.
🏨【Hotel reference】🏨
Recommended to stay at Taj Palace, luxury and comfort coexist, outside the window is the bustling night view of Delhi🌃. Limited budget? Try Sarovar Portico, high cost performance, convenient location!
💡【Travel tips】💡
- Delhi traffic is congested, it is recommended to use taxi software for travel, Uber/Ola is super convenient! 🚗
- Try street snacks, but pay attention to hygiene, recommend Chaat and curry corners, delicious not to be missed! 🍲
- Respect local culture and customs, please take off your shoes and dress appropriately before entering the temple. 👗
- Sunscreen and mosquito repellent, Indian sunshine and mosquitoes are very "enthusiastic"! 🌞🦟

Hilton Garden Inn Saket, New Delhi, India: Worthy of five stars? 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
🏫 The Hilton Garden Inn New Delhi/Saket is conveniently located near the city center of Saket, making shopping and dining quite accessible. It is a 30-minute taxi ride from the airport, and the rooms are clean and sanitary, with large TVs and fast Wi-Fi. There is also an outdoor swimming pool and a gym, among other amenities, which need no further introduction.
✅ Pros: The hotel provides a full range of toiletries, slippers, and electric kettles, and having hot water in Delhi is truly a lifesaver. Of course, there are also the customary Hilton welcome snacks, fruits, tea, and purified water. Being cautious about eating in India, the Hilton's abundant breakfast allowed me to indulge in food without worry, and it was here that I rediscovered the joy of being a foodie. The room service is also commendable, as they were able to deliver fried noodles to my room even at midnight.
❌ Cons: Compared to Hilton hotels in other countries, this one falls short in terms of room decoration, size, and overall environment. The price is not much cheaper either, making the cost-performance ratio rather low. However, accommodations in India tend to be polarized in terms of price and quality, with a clear distinction between the rich and the poor.
In conclusion, when visiting India, I would recommend staying in a better hotel, as even the best homestays may not be as safe, convenient, or sanitary, especially for women.

Indira Gandhi international airport India
Visited New Delhi India for a couple of days for business and had a chance to fly out from their Indira Gandhi international airport. The security is tight as you need to have a boarding pass or ticket to physically get into the terminal. Good to plan to be at this airport 3 hours prior to flight time to give yourself some time if delay at security screening etc. There is some nice statues of Elephants at the main terminal. Once inside the transit area, the airport also look quite well maintained.
Dilli Streat cafe @ Delhi Airport
Flying back from Delhi Airport India and had breakfast at Dilli Streat cafe in transit area. It serve pretty good Indian cuisine. The servicing staffs were attentive and provide good service. The cafe was nicely decorated and feel cosy enough for a relaxing break before any flight. Ordered chicken tikka malai and masala tea, they were very good. Highly recommended to visit this cafe at level 2 of transit departure area if you are flying out from here.

#vianasjourney #awesomepic
India Gate is different structure from Gate of India which located in Mumbai. India gate was built as a memorial dedicated to soldier who died for the country. It’s easily accessible by train and other paid transport such as uber. It was really crowded in the evening so I decided to go in the morning as not many people around during this time. Next to this monument, located as well the memorial park, which open slightly later. No entrance fee for both place. But there will be security check on the memorial park area before enter.

Room gives classic elegant vibes with that combination of wooden floor with modern furniture. Fridge was located next to the single sofa on the corner, that round table consist of fridge inside, how cool is that! They provide bath robe and the tub is in square, plenty of room for two people. Shower space enough for one people and water flow and heating are in a good condition (sometimes for some hotel, water heater works slow). Amenities provided such as wash products, shaving kit, toothbrush and shower cap. Plenty of refill water bottle (6 of it) with water heater. Room temperature was okay even after I turned off the aircond.

📍Akshardham Best Temple in Delhi
Nice place to visit. If there is a possibility go in your own car so that you can save time. We need a lot of time to give and take back our belongings in the counter because we are not allowed to take any of our belongings to inside of the temple. Keep your things in the car and lock it and visit the site and come back.
