Naxos Greece 🇬🇷
#islands
My summer getaway to Naxos was absolutely wonderful! 🌞 This Greek island is a hidden gem with its stunning beaches, charming villages, and rich history. We stayed near the main town of Naxos, which is full of lively cafes and shops. The best part? Access to most of the beautiful beaches, like Agios Prokopios and Plaka, is free, though beach chairs and umbrellas cost around €15-€20 for the day. 🏖️
We explored the ancient Portara, an impressive marble doorway from a 6th-century BC temple, which is free to visit. 🏛️ A short drive took us to the picturesque village of Apiranthos, known for its narrow streets and traditional architecture. If you’re looking for a mix of relaxation and culture, Naxos is the perfect destination.

What a little gem! A beach front restaurant serving a great food & wine 🍷 We booked a table for 2 by the front with a view of sea- definitely needs to to book in advance.
The food is not your usual Greek traditional it’s more like fine dining but affordable prices-in Naxos island restaurants are relatively cheaper then the near by islands such as Santorini and Mykonos.
We had tuna ceviche for starter as well as a goat’s cheese salad, they were so tasty. For mains we had mixed seafood with langoustines and octopus dish which was excellent. 🦐 🐙 We had a fine white wine called Sheriff Farman and a desert with ice cream and a cheese cake lovely!
A few signature cocktails always a good start too! 👌

Nomad beach bar Naxos
Nomad Bear bar and restaurant is location on Naxos island, at Plaka Beach. This is a beautiful spot for the day, you can pre book sunbeds, this has to be done at least the day before as you can’t get sunbeds on the day. They have a great menu for lunch and cocktails. The staff are super friendly and always happy to help. The bus stops very close to the restaurant and to get back on the bus it is not far either. I went for the day and just had lunch and a few cocktails sat on the day sofas in the restaurant and it was so relaxed. If you are able to get sunbeds for the day I would highly recommend!

Ig-worthy Cafe in Naxos
#traveldiaries #greece
Honey and Cinnamon Bar is the most photogenic cafe in Naxos island. Not only does the cafe have beautiful flowers and pretty interior decor, the food and drinks are really delicious! The cafe is strategically located in the old town which is near to the port and serves healthy options including healthy pancakes topped with granola and fresh fruits and super berries bowl. Recommended having brunch in this cozy cafe when in Naxos.
Portara: the inspiration for National Geographic logo
#traveldiaries #greece
Naxos' Temple of Apollo (Portara) is a huge marble gate that is the single remaining part of an unfinished Temple of Apollo of 530BC. Fun fact: National Geographic Logo is inspired by Portara and upon reaching Naxos port, you can spot it from afar! It is an iconic attraction of Naxos and said to be the spot with the best sunset on the island. Pro-tip will then be to come during sunset to have an instagramable photo!

Just got back from Naxos Island, and I’m already missing it! 🏝️ This place has everything you could want in a Greek getaway—stunning beaches, rich history, and amazing food. One of my favorite spots was Plaka Beach, a long stretch of golden sand and clear, turquoise waters. Best part? No entrance fees for most beaches! You can just pick a spot, relax, and enjoy the views. If you’re into history, don’t miss the Portara, the ancient temple ruins right by the port—it’s free and the sunset views from there are unforgettable 🌅.
The island is also full of charming villages like Halki, where I wandered through narrow streets and tasted local Kitron (a citrus liqueur). Don’t skip a visit to the Temple of Demeter—only a few euros to enter, and the site is surrounded by peaceful countryside. Naxos is not as crowded as some of the other islands, making it feel like a hidden gem.

Naxos, Greece
I had a very fun trip in the summer in Naxos Greece. This beautiful island has so much to do and amazing places to visit. I went to so many beaches with crystal clear water and I also went to so many nice restaurants that make the most delicious fresh food. I also explored the history of this island and did some really good shopping. I really loved Naxos and would definitely come back.
An off beat Greece
#beachlife
If you have been to Santorini before and it bothers you the herds of tourists, non stop picture posing and inflated prices. Perhaps you should consider this beautiful place I went to and I'm sure glad i did. I'm talking about Naxos. And ancient place in Greece with plains and valleys. It is amongst the most under rated of Greek islands.
But such a joy when you find a place not as crowded as the popular islands of Greece. Infact very few tourists when I was there. And it is an island so a beach getaway is absolutely possible. Might I add, a stunning one.
Naxos is the largest among the Cyclades and the most versatile island in the region. Since i had the luxury of time, i went island hopping in the Cyclades, and Naxos was one of the islands that felt the nicest. With some of the most beautiful beaches in Greece, numerous hiking trails, and archeological sites to discover, this Cycladic island has something for every type of traveler. Try it and you'd understand what I'm talking about.

Mount Zas in Naxos Island!
If you are feeling adventurous, try Hiking up Mount Zas in Naxos Island, Greece!
One of my greatest achievement for our Trip to Greece!
Be prepared to set aside at least 4-6 hours to reach the mountain peak top! And be prepared with sufficient water and food! (We lacked sufficient water and did not bring any food up, so we ended the hike just about 90% to the peak, as we were also super tired out already)
The climb was very steep and scary! There are parts of the hike where I used even both my hands to clutch onto any rocks or branches that could help stabilise my steps. I also spent most of the hike looking down on the ground though, as was very wary of loose rocks 😂
Be rewarded with the great view at the mountain top! We stayed around 20 minutes to enjoy the amazing view before making the long hike down again!
Once in a lifetime experience!
Welcome to The Jewel of the Dolomites 💙
Rent a row boat, paddle around the photogenic emerald-colored waters, and enjoy the stunning view of Lago di Braies 🛶

The largest of the Cyclades, Naxos
We booked a ferry from Santorini, it’s also easily reach from Mykonos and Paros. A spot is for relaxing, Naxos island has a long, sandy beaches, while middle of island’s surrounded by farms, olive groves, mountains, charming traditional villages, ancient temple ruins, and many Byzantine churches. There are fewer crowds compared to other islands nearby, with its turquoise waters of the Aegean Sea, the island of Naxos is combined with ancient ruins, traditional Greek cuisines and seafood restaurants and beach culture.

What an amazing time we had spending two weeks in Greece, we had amazing weather and the beach was perfect for a little get away. Santorini is a lot more touristic while Naxos is more for relaxation. All in all highly recommend ! #tripaway
