Majesty in Steel: Exploring the Chinggis Khan Statue Complex
Chinggis Khan statue complex has a towering equestrian statue on top and also a museum inside.
Getting There - I hired a local guide/ driver to go there, it is about 50km from Ulaanbaatar.
Highlights -
1. Equestrian statue of Chinggis Khan
This statue is 40m tall made out of steel, and is the tallest equestrian statue in the world.
2. Underground Museum
This was a very interesting museum to learn about Mongolian history and culture, such as the different leaders of Mongol empire and where they conquered.
3. Top of the complex observation deck
Go all the way up to the too to take a close up photo with the statue, and also get a panoramic view of the vast grasslands around the complex. Simply breathtaking!
4. Giant riding boot
There is a huge riding boot on display at the ground floor of museum, symbolising the Mongolian horseback culture.

The 'Genghis Khan Equestrian Statue and Complex' near Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, is a magnificent tourist destination built to honor Genghis Khan, a hero of Mongolia. Standing at a height of 40 meters, the massive stainless steel equestrian statue impresses visitors with its overwhelming presence. Inside the statue, there is a museum that introduces Mongolian history and culture, providing detailed insights into the life and achievements of Genghis Khan.
Additionally, the complex is well-equipped with facilities that allow visitors to experience traditional Mongolian life. You can stay in a ger, the traditional Mongolian dwelling, savor Mongolian cuisine, ride horses across the grasslands, and deeply immerse yourself in Mongolian lifestyle and culture. There is also a shopping area within the complex where you can purchase traditional Mongolian crafts and souvenirs.
Mongolian Trip: Horse Riding in Terelj!!
About an hour's drive from Ulaanbaatar, Terelj is Mongolia's premier tourist destination. You can enjoy various sceneries such as rivers and mountains in Inner Terelj, and admire the landscape dotted with large rocks.
There are also tourist spots like Turtle Rock and Aryabal Temple.
Turtle Rock appears shortly after entering Terelj National Park. The rock, made of large orthoclase granite pegmatite, is shaped like a giant turtle and stands about 15 meters tall, independently located at the foot of a mountain. You can climb up to the base of its neck and enjoy a small adventure by passing under the rock.
Aryabal Temple's approach starts with a grassland, followed by a suspension bridge, and finally stone steps leading to the main hall. There are also prayer wheels used in Tibetan Buddhism, and the temple is still supported by strong faith.

💗Other tips:
1. Aryabal Temple is located in Terelj Park and is also known as the Meditation Temple.
2. The digital code of Aryapala Temple: 108 and 8.
3. There are 108+8 steps from the foot of the mountain to the entrance of the temple. It is said that if you chant "Um Mani Badmi Hum" every time you step up, the sins you accidentally commit will be compensated and gradually reduced.
4. The fence around the temple is decorated with 108 small suvaras (small white pagodas), 8 religious offerings and other symbols.
5. There are 108 wheels around the temple. As long as you turn it, it is equivalent to chanting "Um Mani Badmi Hum" many times to make up for your mistakes and bring good luck.
6. Aryaabal is a Sanskrit name, and the Mongolian name is Chandman, which means the holder of the lotus.
7. On the east slope of Aryaabal Temple, the 6 letters of Maan are carved in color, which is an abbreviation of "Um Mani Badmi Hum".
