A trip to Nagatoro that clears the mind and soul at Hodosan Shrine, surrounded by mountains and mysteries
A trip to Nagatoro that clears the mind at Hodosan Shrine, surrounded by mountains and mysteries
Hodosan Shrine, located in Nagatoro Town, Chichibu District, Saitama Prefecture, is one of the three Chichibu shrines, known for its benefits in fire prevention, theft prevention, and protection from misfortune.
With the auspicious name "climbing the mountain of treasure," this is a historic shrine that is said to have been founded by Emperor Yamato Takeru.
The author visited on a spring afternoon. After walking about 10 minutes from Nagatoro Station along the approach to the shrine, the main hall with its vivid carvings appears, and you are enveloped in a solemn atmosphere.
If you take the ropeway a little further to the inner shrine, there are plenty of attractions such as the wintersweet garden, small zoo, and observation deck. The view from the top of the mountain is truly spectacular, and you will feel as if your mind is cleansed.
You can freely stroll around the grounds, and it is also a nice point that you can enjoy it for free. You can visit quietly on a solo trip, or enjoy nature and mysticism with your partner.
It was a memorable trip where the nature and history of Nagatoro blended together.
