There is a temple on the top of the mountain of Hodosan Shrine - Okumiya. The word "Okumiya" means deep in Japanese, so the location of Okumiya is very hidden, it is a "deep palace"! 😎Even if tourists take the cable car to the top of Mount Hoden, they still need to climb a long and steep staircase to reach it. There are two must-do things in Nagatoro - rock rafting and taking the cable car up Mount Hoden! To take the cable car, you must first go to the Hodosan Station at the foot of the mountain. Don’t underestimate this station, it is also a tourist attraction worth visiting! 😌 The station is full of nostalgia, and there are two cable cars to the top. 🚠 The cable cars "Bambi" and "MONKEY" are named after the deer and Japanese monkeys in the small zoo at Mount Hodo. It makes a perfect day trip from Tokyo, takes about 2 hours from Tokyo station. I was lucky enough to have a Japanese friend to help me book a special Charcoal operated train to nagatoro. That was another experience. The Iwadani are layered rocks that represent Nagatoro in Chichibu, Saitama Prefecture. The currents of the Arakawa River eroded crystalline schists in the area, creating a fault valley and rock terraces. It’s a really beautiful place to visit

#fallingforfall Just a few stations away from Chichibu is Nagatoro, a very pretty and scenic tourist attraction. Autumn fall foliage at Nagatoro along the Arakawa river is stunning and colourful. To enjoy the picturesque view, you may also wish to take the river cruise ride along the river. There are three different courses, with 2 short courses and the last trip being just a combination of the first 2 courses combined to 1 full long cruise. There will be 2 of the captains to help operate the boat once every one is on board the boat. To get to the Arakawa river section where the boat is, you will have to walk around 20 minutes from the Nagatoro station (under Chichibu line).

Nogami Station This station is located on the Chichibu Main Line of the Chichibu Railway in Honnoue, Nagatoro-machi, Chichibu-gun, Saitama Prefecture. Five of the Nagatoro Seven Herb Temples are located around the station: Taho-ji, Hozen-ji, Shinsho-ji, Dosho-in, and Hensho-ji. Overhead as you exit the ticket gates, there is a sign that says "Welcome to Nagatoro Nogami Station," along with photos of each temple and information on touring the Seven Herb Temples. Unfortunately, I arrived at night and couldn't get a good photo of the station building.

A day trip plan for the Nagatoro and Chichibu areas of Saitama Prefecture! First, take photos of the rock formations along the Nagatoro River. It's just a one-minute walk from Nagatoro Station, so it's very accessible. The water is clear and you can even experience a river boat ride. The road from Nagatoro Station is lined with restaurants and souvenir shops, so you can fill your stomach. Nagatoro Station also has many places to eat and walk around, and I bought miso potatoes at Chichitetsu Nagatoro Station Soba Shop. This is a shop where you can enjoy nagashi somen noodles. The sweet miso sauce was absolutely delicious! There's also a branch of Chichibu confectionery shop Kurisuke, where I bought marron blanc soft serve! I was able to try the freshly squeezed marron blanc on the spot, and it was absolutely delicious! You can also purchase dorayaki and other souvenirs! This short trip to Chichibu in Saitama left me with many wonderful memories. For lunch, I enjoyed the signature miso katsu soba at a local shop. A healing place for those living in the concrete jungle! 😌😌 Surrounded by beautiful blue skies, lush greenery, and the refreshing sounds of the river, it's a truly relaxing place! There's also delicious food nearby, and the shaved ice was especially delicious! We were surrounded by a variety of foods, including sweetfish and other seafood! Please note that some shops close early, so it's best to arrive early for a safer experience! You can purchase tickets for the river rafting experience on the day! It's a monolith formed by multiple layers of thin rocks, stretching an astounding 500 meters! Summer boat rides are also popular and offer a thrilling experience. ✨ Nagatoro is also home to a place where you can enjoy the summer tradition of "Nagashi Somen" (flowing noodles). 𓂃𓈒𓏸 "Choseikan" (Choseikan), a long-established inn located right next to the Iwadatami. Every year from Golden Week through October, you can enjoy all-you-can-eat Nagashi Somen. 🎐 Hours: 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM Reservations are required (reservations open at 11:00 AM seven days in advance) 45 minutes of all-you-can-eat! Summer is finally approaching. I'd like to introduce you to Nagatoro, which is perfect for a weekend trip in the summer! It's relatively easy to access from Tokyo, just 2.5 hours by train, so you can make a day trip there 😉 ① Arakawa Line Boat Trip (Photos 1 & 2) Arakawa Line Boat Trip can be enjoyed all year round. There are about three courses, and it's a popular activity where you go down the river on a boat for about 15 minutes! There are places where the flow is gentle, but near the rocks it gets a little rough, so it's fun and thrilling! You cannot make a reservation for the Arakawa Boat Trip, so you have to buy a ticket on the day. There are a lot of tourists in the summer, and it seems that there are long lines, so I recommend going early ☺️ It costs about 2,000 yen to ride, so please try it out. ② Gallery Cafe Yamashita (3rd photo) Nagatoro is famous for its large shaved ice 🍧. I visited Gallery Cafe Yamashita. All the shaved ice flavors, such as Uji matcha and caramel, are very filling. If you are visiting with someone, you can order different flavors and taste each other😙 There are many other shaved ice shops around Nagatoro Station, so try to find a place that is open! ③Nagatoro Hana no Sato (photos 4 & 5) As the name suggests, it is a flower field where you can enjoy flowers of all seasons. When I visited, it was the season when hydrangeas were beautiful. And the main hydrangea here is white🤍 The pure white hydrangeas were blooming all over, and it was very photogenic📸 You can also enjoy different flowers depending on the season, such as sunflowers and cosmos🌻 It is very hot in the summer, so please be careful of heatstroke~ ④Fujisaki Sobei Shoten/Nagatorogura (photo 6) It is a sake brewery with a long history, and has been newly renovated. There are a lot of Japanese sake and Japanese gifts in the store. It's quite popular and many people visited. It's a great place for sake lovers🍶! Also, if you have the time, you can see how sake is made. The walkway to the sake brewery is quite stylish. You can see a bit of the nature and townscape of Nagatoro, so it's surprisingly recommended. Nagatoro has a lot of charm.
