How to get there - Travel
By car, there are 3 routes as follows:
To go up Doi Ang Khang at Wat Hat Samran, Km. 137, you can take the Chiang Mai-Fang route (Highway No. 107). When you reach the entrance to Doi Ang Khang, turn left onto the road, which is quite steep, with curves and steepness.
To go up Doi Ang Khang at Chiang Dao District, Km. 79 from Chiang Mai city, take the Chiang Mai-Fang route (Highway No. 107). Continue until you reach Chiang Dao District. At kilometer 79, you will find a fork in the road (Route No. 1). Turn left through Tambon Muang Ngai, Ban Arunotai, Ban Luang. The route is quite narrow but not steep.
The route from Fang District to Ban Nor Lae is the shortest distance, but it is very steep and the shoulders are damaged, full of potholes. The road surface is gravel. This route is along the Thai-Burmese border. There will be military checkpoints along the way and you will see both Thai and Burmese military camps. On both sides of the valley, it is definitely not recommended.
By bus
Traveling from Chiang Mai to Doi Ang Khang, you can take a bus from Chiang Mai to Fang or Chiang Mai to Tha Ton and get off at the entrance of Doi Ang Khang in front of Wat Hat Samran, kilometer 137. Then take a songthaew, van or motorcycle up to Doi Ang Khang again or take a public van from Chiang Mai city to Ang Khang.
Traveling from Chiang Rai to Doi Ang Khang, you can also travel on the Chiang Rai-Doi Ang Khang route.
Tourist attractions - Doi Ang Khang
It is a high and winding asphalt road. During December-January, the weather is cold until the dew turns into frost. Tourists should therefore prepare warm clothing such as hats, gloves, socks and sweaters. There are many accommodations on Doi Ang Khang to serve tourists.
In addition, if you come from Doi Ang Khang, don't forget to stop by Hinoki Land, a new tourist attraction in Chiang Mai.
