Breathtaking architectural village
#fallingforfall
Welcome to the great village called Drvengrad. We took the Train from Belgrade all the way to Mokra Gora and from there we took the bus to get to this neighborhood. After that we walked up to the mountaintop where this village is. This village is very popular among tourist for the breathtaking view and the great architectural design of the houses. Many streets are named after famous artists and scientists like Nikola Tesla and there is a beautiful church in the middle of the village. My personal favorite is the vintage cars in the right corner of the village #tripblazers #fallingforfall

Step into a fairytale wooden village.
🪵Drvengrad (also known as Timber Town or Drvengrad) is a unique tourist attraction located in the Mokra Gora region of western Serbia, or more specifically, in the Zlatibor region of the Golden Pine Ridge. This village is not a naturally formed settlement, but a film set created by the famous film director Emir Kusturica for the filming of the movie "Life is a Miracle."
⛪️The architecture of the wooden village is distinctive, from churches to houses, tables, chairs, benches, and even roads, all made of local wood, hence the name. The wooden houses coexist harmoniously with the forest, each exuding a primitive natural charm, some are small and delicate, some are spacious and bright, each is unique. These wooden houses are not only unique in appearance, but also equipped with modern living facilities, blending modernity and primitiveness to form a unique beauty.
🌭In addition to the breathtaking architecture, the wooden village retains a strong rural atmosphere. The villagers (although mainly tourists and staff) are warm and hospitable, simple and kind, making people feel very close. Here, you can taste authentic Serbian cuisine, such as grilled meat, Serbian country sausage, local cheese, and bread. In addition, the wooden village is also a paradise for photography enthusiasts, whether it is the exquisite wooden houses or the quiet country roads, are excellent choices for taking photos.
🏡With the development of tourism, some hotels have been built in the wooden village, and tourists can choose to stay here for a night to experience this unique tourist destination more deeply. Overall, the wooden village is not only a tourist attraction, but also a part of Serbian culture, reflecting the country's history, art, and architectural style.
Serbia's "Wooden Village" | Find "Life is a Miracle".
| Find "Life is a Miracle". The Šargan Eight "8" nostalgic train 🚞 passes through more than 20 mountain tunnels, connecting the autumn colors of the Tara Valley (Mokra Gora). This narrow-gauge railway, which used to run from Belgrade to Sarajevo, was once known as the lifeline of Yugoslavia. The 8-shaped mountain railway, rebuilt by the villagers, and the "Wooden Village" on its north side, rebuilt from the abandoned old houses of the mountain people, showcasing the traditional style of Serbia, are a testament to the miracle of life 🎞️
The development of the times seems to have stopped here, with an antique charm
Wooden Village is a set built by the famous Serbian director Emir Kusturica for the filming of the movie 'Life is a Miracle'. The film won the Best European Film Award at the French César Film Festival, and the place was later expanded into a folk village, gradually becoming a famous tourist attraction in Serbia. Don't miss it if you pass by. 🤩🤩🤩
🌟Highlights:
The village is surrounded by open mountains and fields, with pleasant scenery and fresh air. Here, you can escape the hustle and bustle of the city and feel the tranquility and comfort, as if you are in a paradise, making it a great place to escape the troubles of reality. Although it is a tourist attraction, it still maintains a unique tranquility of a small town. 👍👍👍👍
👍Highly recommended:
I really like the all-wood architectural style, as if traveling back to the Middle Ages. The colorful buildings are also a highlight, making it very photogenic. ✌✌✌
Serbian ethnic style girl, won't you get a set?
If the ancient buildings of Serbia are dazzling like gems, then its natural scenery is the crown inlaid with this gem.
About two hours west of Belgrade, the beautiful scenery of Western Serbia gradually unfolds.
The first stop is Ovcar-Kablar Gorge, which is the most in line with my idea of European countryside. In the lush valley, continuous mountains, ancient monasteries, peaceful villages, white flocks of sheep, quiet lakes, are just right distributed in the valley. Hiking, cycling, climbing, skiing, fishing, hot springs, in any season, you can find your most enjoyable way of traveling here.
Navigation: Ovcarsko-Kablarska
Recommended time: half a day - one day
And when I walked into Terzica Avlija Ethno Park, I seemed to melt into the oil paintings of the Renaissance period. Rent a traditional Serbian costume, dance a traditional kolo dance, and feel the passionate heritage of the Serbian people for hundreds of years. Living in old houses, still staying a hundred years ago.
Navigation: Terzica Avlija Ethno Park
Recommended time: 2-3 hours
After passing through the Potpecka cave, you will arrive at the Wooden Village, which is a famous Serbian director Kusturica, built for the movie . Now it is known as the city of Utopia in reality. The buildings in the village are all made of wood, including barber shops, churches, restaurants, cinemas, basketball courts, etc., although the sparrow is small and complete.
On the second day, take the world's only narrow-gauge train, which fully retains the original wooden structure when it was operated in 1921. Isn't the green steam carriage very retro? The scenery along the way is picturesque, but if you climb up the hill and overlook, it is very much like the express train heading to Hogwarts.
Navigation: Nature park Mokra Gora
Recommended time: half a day - one day
Time starts to flow again, in the spruce forest of Tara National Park, the eyes are completely soaked by the gentle green. Climb up the observation deck and overlook the most magnificent view of the Drina Gorge. At this moment, I believe that this 220 square kilometers of primitive forest is really the home of the gods in Slavic mythology. It is said that you can also watch brown bears at close range in the scenic area~ I don't know if you are the lucky one?
Walking slowly along the Drina River, there is a small house isolated from the world in the middle of the river. It became famous in 2012 when it appeared on National Geographic magazine and became the most popular check-in place in Tara National Park. The hut was destroyed by the river six times and rebuilt seven times, witnessing the unyielding spirit of the Serbian people.
Navigation: Tara national park
Recommended time:
Self-driving tour: half a day - one day
Hiking tour: one day (Must go to the observation deck!)
Western Serbia is a close and leisurely feast of scenery. Every time I immerse myself in the present and still linger, the next corner will refresh your understanding of the wonders of nature. As I type on the keyboard, I am struggling, can my words restore the shock that Serbian scenery has brought me? I hope to express my thoughts and thoughts to you as much as possible~
Here are a few things you must know before traveling to Serbia~ Must-visit destination: Zlatibor
Serbia, a country located in southeastern Europe, is a landlocked country on the Balkan Peninsula, bordering eight countries, four of which are former Yugoslav members. In recent years, Serbia's economy has grown rapidly, and it has gradually become one of the popular destinations for European travel. In 2015, it was rated by Lonely Planet as one of the 'top ten travel destinations worth visiting'. Serbia is one of the most intact places for natural ecological protection in Europe, with exceptionally rich natural scenery. Orchards, forests, grasslands, peaks, canyons, lakes, rivers, vineyards and vineyards are everywhere, with very little pollution and fresh air~ The Danube is the European river that flows through the most countries, and one-fifth of it is within Serbia.
I went to four cities in total: Belgrade, Novi Sad, Subotica, Zlatibor~
Let's start with sharing about Zlatibor!
The western border city of Zlatibor is located in the border area of Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina~ Serbia has 5 national parks, more than 30 natural parks and special nature reserves, and the Tara National Park located in the state of Zlatibor is a very distinctive one. The Tara Mountain and the Drina River intertwine~ There are wooden chalets for accommodation at the foot of the mountain, and the scenery along the way for hiking is breathtaking. The small wooden house that has stood on the rocks of the Drina River for nearly half a century has been constantly exploding on various social media in the past two years~ The real thing is indeed dreamy~ The rich resources of the Zlatibor mountain area can let people experience the real outdoor adventure fun.
Summer hiking, boating, mountain climbing and winter skiing are all popular projects here. Kopaonik Mountain is a famous skiing resort in Eastern Europe~ Although it is sunny for more than 200 days a year, it is magical that it is snowy from November to May every year. Even if its reputation may not be comparable to Switzerland, France and other European skiing resorts, the 44-kilometer ski slope and 20-kilometer ski cable car here make many traditional skiing resorts pale in comparison~
In addition, the Wooden Village located in the Zlatibor mountain area was built by a famous Serbian director for the filming of the movie 'Life is a Miracle'~ All buildings from the ground to the house are made of wood and decorated with colorful oil paintings~ Today's Wooden Village has also become a famous resort, not only with museums and galleries, sports halls and restaurants and cafes, but also a cinema that can accommodate 100 people. You can also take a small train to tour the Zlatibor mountain area in the Wooden Village. As one of the few narrow-gauge railways in the world, the train itself is a museum. The four carriages have completely different styles and layouts, which are very worth experiencing~ The entire operation line takes two and a half hours to cross 10 bridges and 22 tunnels, taking in the beautiful and quiet mountain scenery...
Other places I recommend not to miss when coming to Serbia: The capital of Serbia, Belgrade~ This is one of the oldest cities in Europe. Because it is located at the confluence of the Danube and Sava rivers, it is known as the 'crossroads of the eastern and western worlds'. When you come to Belgrade, you must go to the most famous commercial street in the city, Mihailo Grand Duke Street. The representative buildings of the 19th century European style stand on both sides of the street~ Walking along this street to the end is the Kalemegdan ancient castle located at the confluence of the Sava River and the Danube River. It is the best witness to the history of Belgrade city and a landmark scenic spot and leisure place in Belgrade. Although this castle has undergone many renovations and expansions, the architectural styles of ancient Rome and the Austro-Hungarian Empire can still be seen today. Most of the existing ruins were mainly built during the Turkish rule. A park has now been built around the Kalemegdan Castle, which overlooks the Danube and the former battlefield. Belgrade also has the largest Orthodox church in the world, one of the top ten churches in the world, the Church of St. Sava~ In addition, the Zemun town on the outskirts of Belgrade is a good place for locals to relax~ There are many good restaurants along the Danube in the town~ Climbing to the top of the Millennium Tower in the town can overlook the entire town's Central European-style red-roofed buildings, and looking along the Danube, you can also see the cityscape of Belgrade.
The northern Serbian city of Novi Sad holds a four-day EXIT music festival every July, attracting nearly 300,000 tourists from all over the world~ Historically, it was the cultural center of Serbia, known as the 'Athens of Serbia'. Having afternoon tea on the castle of Petrovaradin Fortress, overlooking the quietly flowing Danube; eating Brunch in Freedom Square, drinking a few glasses of champagne, enjoying the warm sun in the spring afternoon can be slightly drunk~ The brightly colored buildings with European retro luxury horse-drawn carriages passing by make people confused, as if they have traveled to the prosperous place of Europe hundreds of years ago... It only takes one hour from Belgrade to Novi Sad by bus, and there is a bus every 20 minutes, which can be returned on the same day.
The northern border city of Serbia, Subotica, is full of local art buildings with Hungarian colors. This is a city with rich colors of art, and it is also a city of multi-ethnic integration: 25 ethnic groups, 6 languages. Due to its proximity to the Hungarian border, it is popular to decorate local buildings with Hungary's famous Zsolnay ceramics. Subotica also has a museum that carries the treasures of new art. The famous local resort, Lake Palic, is a fairy tale world for me. In the fairy tale world, there is also a quite large zoo, which makes the fairy tale world more vivid~ In addition, if you like wine, you can also go to Serbia's famous ZVONKO BOGDAN winery and vineyard, which is also near Lake Palic.
Although it is not the largest national park in the area, it is indeed the most beautiful and important in the hearts of the Serbian people. There are more than a thousand species of flora and fauna in the park, including European brown bears. Although the bears here are well protected, and the staff of the National Park are regularly feeding, they rarely appear in the field of vision of tourists, and there have never been any dangerous incidents.
bear can't see, huge snails are still a lot, of course, very friendly~
According to the guide, few locals have lived here since World War II, because winter is particularly cold, minus 20 to 25 degrees Winter snowfall is very large, it is said that the annual snowfall reaches 8 meters.
Since it is a national park, trees are naturally the biggest owners, and 80% of the area is covered by a tree.
Good natural environment has also attracted many directors' attention. For example, the Hollywood movie "The Forest" was shot here. The guide said that the actor is Lady Gaga's ex-boyfriend, so Lady Gaga is still coming to visit. There are two best shooting spots in
park, one is the top view platform, about 1,000 meters above sea level. Opposite the river, it is Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Tara National Park is an important point in southwestern Serbia. Visitors come to the country and basically come here to have a look. There are lush virgin forests, high heavens, curved rivers, emerald lakes, and a cartoon-like forest-like chalet.
We stayed at the local homestay. The landlord gave us toast, made a delicious apple pie, and brought out the brewed wine for us to drink and refused to collect the extra money. The landlady was thin, and every time I learned that the landlord called her "Maggie", she laughed and opened the flower, and hugged me, and it was a fragrant face, and it was very intimate.
A fruit tree in front of the house is full of fruits like peaches and bergamot. The small dish is filled with peppers and tomatoes. What do you want to eat? Pick it yourself. The dog looks like a big brother. Protect the chickens under your arm.
Daddy took us to the forest to hike and told me that there are sixty bears in this forest. The tall logs lie on the ground, and the small mushrooms emerge from the trees. They stand on the high ground and overlook the entire mountains and rivers. Baiyun flying rolls.
When I left, the car drove far away, and the old man and Maggie stood on the side of the road and waved their hands...
Zlatibor, a city in the north-central part of Serbia, is a tourist distribution center. Most of the people come here to go around the 8-character train and visit the Wood City. The
Sargan8 railway was built in 1921. Because one of the tracks has been hit two circles in a row, from the height, it is just an "8" word, so it is also called a small 8-character train. The entire running line has to pass through 10 bridges and 22 tunnels, and the beautiful and tranquil mountainous scenery is unobstructed. Most of the tourists on this train come from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia or Slovenia next door, so the oriental faces are very popular here. As long as they stop, some people come up to ask for a group photo.
Wood Village, created by Serbian director Emile Kusturika, used to be the location of the movie "Life is a miracle", now transformed into a resort, everything, even the streets, are made of wood Built - this is the appearance of the traditional mountain village of Serbia in the 19th century, and the "wood city" is named after it.
Sitting on a rickety train slowly through the forest, staying in a small villa in the Wood City for one night, like a local, feel the pure Serbian mountain life, I am here Original intention.
In the filming of "Life is a miracle", Serbian director Kusturica has built a wooden village in the Mokra Gora mountain area in order to truly restore the life of the Slavic mountains.
The place is small, but drinking coffee on the viewing platform is still a bit pleasant.
