Ponderosa Zoo 🇬🇧
#animalcontact
I had a fantastic time at Ponderosa Zoo in Heckmondwike! 🦒 The entrance fee was around £14, which felt like a good deal for the variety of animals and experiences offered. The zoo is home to an impressive range of species, including zebras, lemurs, and parrots. 🦓🦜
The layout is easy to navigate, and the enclosures are well-kept. I particularly enjoyed the petting farm where kids can interact with friendly goats and sheep. 🐐 The zoo also has several picnic areas, perfect for a relaxing lunch break. 🥪
Nearby, the scenic Ponderosa Park offers lovely walking trails and great views of the surrounding countryside, making it a nice addition to your zoo visit. 🌳
Overall, Ponderosa Zoo provides a fun and educational day out for all ages. Highly recommend for a family-friendly adventure! #trip #PonderosaZoo #FamilyFun #WildlifeExperience #PettingFarm #DayOut

The beauty of the moors
The stories of the Brontë sisters have evoked romantic images of Yorkshires moorlands for over 2 centuries. These wild environments are as harsh and beautiful as they are made out in stories such as Wuthering Heights.
Holme Moss on the edge of the Peak District is the embodiment of this with its panoramic views, tussocks blowing in the wind and springs bursting into life. #Brontë #Moors #yorkshire #voyagevibes
Just outside the famous Yorkshire town of Holmfirth you can find yourself on a classic moorland walk that feels like you have gone back in time to a Brontë novel.
The walk itself starts at Digley reservoir and climbs about 150m before steeply descending towards the bridge itself, which in the winter and after heavy rain can have a wild stream below. Twisting and turning on your return leg you can gain great views of Black Hill and Holme Moss (an infamous bike climb, featured in the Tour de France). The loop itself is around 8km and takes about 2 hours to complete.

Escape the city
Just over half an hour from Manchester you can find one of the most stunning walks in the North of England at Wessenden Head. Park up at the free car park just off the A635 and enjoy the unspoilt nature with a number of reservoirs and viewpoints across the stunning Saddleworth Moor. The walk forms part of the Pennine way and if you’re feeling adventurous you can reach the Yorkshire village of Marsden full of independent shops and restaurants.
