We chose to take the mountain train 🚂 to the Gornergrat viewpoint. The train station is right in the center of Zermatt, simple yet full of Swiss charm. The final stop of the train is the Gornergrat viewpoint, at an altitude of 3,130 meters. Well you can consider going by zermatt towards rothorn via a gondola ride to Blauherd and there after the last stop at rothorn which is the highest viewpoint(above 3000m high) in zermatt where it has relatively good accessibility. Rothorn is also a great lace for hiking and biking during the summer, spring and fall season where you will be able to catch a glimpse of the many scenery this place has to offer. So there are 2 popular mountains that many tourists will visit, one is the Jungfraujoch which is the tallest mountain in Europe and another is the matterhorn where the top of the mountain has a horned shaped look. Also, there are 2 locations to view the mighty gorgeously beautiful matterhorn, where I believe the best view point is from Gornergrat itself as this place has an unobstructed view of the peak from afar. During this time two years ago, I spent my time in Switzerland😭😭 Although the mountains of Switzerland are always covered with dark clouds in winter, and there will be rain and snow. But I was very lucky to visit Switzerland three times in good weather (yes, it was winter...)~ Zermatt is actually quite a small mountain town, but it is very crowded because of the stunning views along the railway up the mountain and the very attractive scenery on the mountain. And there is a cable car to enjoy the Triangle Chocolate Mountain in the white snow. This was my second trip to Zermatt, taking my mom. Most tourists go early and return late, because accommodation here is really expensive... but because I didn't want to be crowded with the train, I stayed in a super nice B&B with a kitchen. If you are a local international student in Switzerland, I really recommend that you apply for a student card. This is a matter of sunk cost! We spent 70 Swiss on a day pass from Montreux to Zermatt, and the result was! You need to buy a separate train ticket to visit the Matterhorn, which costs 78 Swiss francs for a round trip! A student card costs 185 Swiss francs a year, and all tickets (including discounted tickets) are half price. The Matterhorn is the mountain with the Toblerone chocolate! Switzerland is expensive.🇨🇭 However, it is also super pretty. Most of the places in Switzerland look out of a move or a beautiful paint. The mountains, the lakes, the skies, all very, very beautiful. This time for me was a short one, just a few days in #zermatt, a cute little town in the Switzerland’s Valais canton. It is a well know location for #skiing #climbing and #hiking. If you are lucky enough to pass by this beautiful place, you should definitely go for a hike and enjoy the beautiful view of the #matterhorn , the most iconic Swiss mountain (it was also featured on the Toblerone chocolate until a few years ago). The Matterhorn is beautiful, and the 5 lakes hike is a great way to hike the area while enjoying the view (the hike should take around 2 hours and 30 minutes but you can enjoy the panorama and spend a few hours up there). To get to the starting point you need to take a train from Zermatt to Sunnega and a cable car to Blauherd - cost around 40 Swiss Franc return). In Zermatt town you can also try local dishes such us #cheesefondue , #raclette and #rösti . All very yummy, all very “fatty” but still worth to try once in a lifetime 😅 I haven’t skied in ages, but it would be great to come back here in winter and check the place out with snow. Loved it 😍

We stayed in Bern for two nights and Zermatt for one night! We had enough time to visit Lake Brienz in addition to sightseeing in Bern and Zermatt in four days. We could see the Matterhorn from the hotel in Zermatt, and it was also easy to access Sunnegga Paradise. Prices are high in Switzerland, but bread is very cheap and delicious, so I recommend it!!
