2025 Maros Regency Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in October)

Rammang Rammang is a must-visit in Makassar. Its natural beauty might remind people of Halong Bay, a series of karst hills filled with active stalactites and stalagmites. Ideally, the trip to Rammang Rammang should begin at 7 a.m. before the sun is hot. Make sure you bring drinking water, although there are local stalls selling water, young coconuts, and simple snacks. The location itself is very spacious, but unfortunately, we only explored one cave, the Diamond Cave, as we were drained under the scorching sun. To reach the Diamond Cave, we took a boat for about 15 minutes. The journey felt like an adventure, reminiscent of an Indiana Jones film. The entrance fee is IDR 25,000 per person (if I remember correctly). Some of the bridge planks have rotted with time, but overall, the walkway is adequate.
