Monjong handwoven fabric
1. Mon Chong handwoven fabric
Address - Mon Chong community, Mae Tuen Subdistrict, Omkoi District
Highlights - Karen people have liked to wear handwoven cotton clothes since ancient times. In the past, Karen people grew their own cotton, spun the cotton into threads, dyed it with natural dyes, and created patterns through weaving, silk embroidery, and Job's tears. Karen women will pass on the wisdom of the weaving process to their children aged 12-15 years, starting with simple patterns, practicing until they are skilled and can design their own patterns. As for the patterns of Karen woven fabrics, there is a story that they came from the pattern of a large snake skin, which was a former lover of the Karen woman. The snake's pattern changes every day. And the young woman wove the cloth according to the pattern until 7 days had passed. She wove 7 patterns, but the most popular patterns used for weaving and embroidery were 4: Yo-ho-kue, Ko-pe-ploe, Chui-kho-lo, and another pattern was Tee-kha. Currently, there are still popular patterns for weaving: Ken-na-der or honeycomb pattern and Se-ko-po or eggplant flower pattern.

Doi Ma Hop, Chiang Mai Province
For those who have been hiking, you must have heard the name of this mountain more or less. Doi Ma Hop, or Noen Ma Hop, or Doi Wat Jai is the name of a large hill or mountain that hikers, villagers, and porters all know well about the origin of the name. This is because this hill is almost 60 degrees steep and is about 400 meters long to the top.
Climbing up a hill with this steepness is not easy. In some parts, you have to use your hands to climb. It is very tiring. Some people are even out of breath. This is the origin of the name of this mountain.
To travel to Wat Jai and conquer Doi Ma Hop, you have to walk along the Doi Mon Chong nature study trail located in the Omkoi Wildlife Sanctuary. Once you pass this large hill, you are almost at the camping spot.

Phra That Than Jai Pagoda, Chiang Mai Province
Chedi Phra That Tan Jai or Chedi Phra That Tan Jai Phraya Athit Tarach is a sacred object enshrined on a mountaintop, near the highest peak of Doi Mon Chong, at a height of 1,929 meters above sea level. From Pha Hua Sing, walk along the slope and you will find this chedi.
From searching for information, it is not clear when it was built, but from what we feel, to bring any object to build on a mountaintop that is this high must be extraordinary. Strong faith is what will lead to the success of building this chedi for sure.
For anyone who comes to visit Doi Mon Chong, don't forget to stop by to pay homage to Chedi Phra That Tan Jai Phraya Athit Tarach and ask for blessings for good fortune.

Chang Golf Course, Chiang Mai Province
Chang Golf Course is a large grassland with hills that alternately rise and fall. It is another important viewpoint of Doi Mon Chong, located in the Omkoi Wildlife Sanctuary, Chiang Mai Province.
Hikers who have reached this point mean that their mission to conquer Doi Mon Chong is almost complete. From Chang Golf Course, you can walk through the forest to camp and set up a tent not too far away. (Although Chang Golf Course is an open field, camping is not allowed in this area. It is used only as a route and viewpoint.) Or if you want to continue walking to the highest peak, you can do so as well. Just walk for about 1 kilometer.

Mon Chong Golden Mountain, Omkoi District, Chiang Mai Province
It is a hiking spot suitable for beginner hikers.
The journey is quite short and not too brutal.
There are both flat and steep paths. The atmosphere along the way is surrounded by intricate mountains. It is very beautiful.
When you reach the top, you will have to exclaim wow ✨✨
at the spacious Chang Golf Course.
Covered with golden grass, taking pictures is beautiful. Another important highlight is Pha Hua Sing, which is named because it looks like a lion's head. The distance to the top is close to the eyes but far to the feet. It is tiring but worth it.
You must visit Mon Chong once.

Experience the lifestyle of the local community at Ban Mae Khong
A hidden village whose district name might not even be familiar to many. This is Ban Mae Khong, a village nestled amidst towering mountains, surrounded by nature, streams, and forests that act as natural barriers from the outside world. The only way to access this village is by taking a 4WD vehicle to navigate through the rugged terrain.
Thanks to its natural fortifications, the village remains peaceful, beautiful, and rich in lush greenery. Most of the residents here are Karen people who have lived harmoniously with the forest and preserved this watershed area since the time of their ancestors.
For those who love nature and wish to learn about traditional ways of life, we highly recommend this place. It is raw, authentic, and untouched by modern influences.
We suggest that visitors planning to come here book with a homestay in advance. You can park your vehicle at the entrance of the village.

This trip is not just about visiting a waterfall 💦
It's an experience filled with laughter from fellow travelers 😂
and simple happiness from the local way of life 🍃
The trail to the waterfall is 5 km from the village,
round trip approximately 10 km.
There are lots and lots of leeches 🐛.
At the waterfall, there's an elderly man who maintains the trail for tourists without expecting anything in return. However, you can support him to help maintain the area for visitors.
📍 Travel Information
Omkoi to Na Kian: 50 km
Travel time: approximately 2-3 hours.
The road is extremely rough and not recommended ❌.
But for adventure seekers, it’s worth the challenge, taking about 7-8 hours.
The dirt road is muddy and extremely tough ⚠️🚸

Good morning Omkoi
This is a review of a delicious coffee shop in Omkoi district from the perspective of a visitor who just tried the coffee here for the first time. The shop offers both dark roast and medium roast coffee. The menu item I ordered was matcha latte, which had a perfectly balanced flavor. The ice is homemade by the shop. The staff provides excellent service, and the price, ranging from 50-60 baht, is quite reasonable. If you're passing through Omkoi district, you must stop by and try it. They also have a wide variety of cakes to choose from.
Doi Mon Chong
Omkoi, Chiang Mai, is described well throughout the year because it is on the mountain. It is cool and not very hot. Most of the places are inhabited by various tribes, including the Hmong, Lahu, and Karen. The main tourist attraction is Doi Mon Chong, which is located in Mae Tuen. During the winter, tourists like to come and set up camp, walk up the mountain, and enjoy the atmosphere and beautiful views of the sunrise. If you like a challenge, you have to try it at least once. #VisitChiangMai #DoiMonChong #Omkoi

Ban Phi Pan Tai is a small village located in Omkoi District, Chiang Mai Province. It takes about three to four hours to travel from the front of Omkoi District to the village, and the route requires advanced driving skills as it is an off-road path. The village has a small school nestled among the mountains. At night, if it rains lightly, you can see a beautiful sea of mist from the village's viewpoint in the morning.
Doi Mon Chong, a self-guided tour ⛰️
It is a very beautiful mountain, both in the evening and in the morning. It is not difficult to walk but it is tiring on many hills. Walking up and down, but the weather is good, cold. The view along the way makes walking enjoyable. We stayed at B2 Thipnet because it is close to the van pick-up point at 5 am at Hai Ya Gate, Chiang Mai Cultural Center. Walk 500 meters and you will arrive. Very convenient. But on the way back, we had to ask to hitch a ride with a person who joined the four-wheel drive to Omkoi city to continue the car into Chiang Mai city. For this trip up the mountain, there were 2 of us and it cost only 1,300 baht per person. The most serious thing was the four-wheel drive fee up the mountain. There were only 2 other people joining the trip, so it cost 750 baht per person. But overall, it is very okay.

Mon Chong, sincere
The sky is beautiful and clear, you can see the mountain layers clearly. It is considered a fun mountain to walk, not too difficult, even beginners can walk. Distance 4-5 kilometers (walk 2-3 hours)
Height 1934 meters (from sea level) Before walking, you have to ride a 4*4. The road is brutal, I feel sorry for my liver, intestines, and stomach (about 1 hour).
Along the way, it is quite shady, the sun is strong in some parts. The lawn above is cute, minimal, fun to take pictures, lots of stars
It is so cold, too cold, bring a jacket.

Phufa Cafe
Phu Fa Coffee Shop, a coffee shop with a nice atmosphere in Omkoi District, Chiang Mai Province. Many people already know Omkoi coffee well. It is famous for its mellow aroma. Therefore, if you come to Omkoi, you must not be disappointed. This shop has good coffee, but I would like to criticize that it is a bit bland. The shop has too much milk in the menu that includes milk. They offer breakfast service, a relaxed atmosphere, the shop is quite open, not crowded. There are local products for sale in the shop as souvenirs. Overall, it is okay. Open 08:00-18:00
