Despite various concerns, many people still believe that Ukraine is unsafe and hesitate to travel there. This is a big mistake! The safety situation here is even better than the standard safety levels of ordinary European countries. Ukrainian cities are not dangerous, so there is no need to worry; just take some extra precautions. Although the number of tourists visiting Lviv is increasing year by year, it is still not as crowded as popular destinations in Western Europe. The city has not been commercialized and retains an old-world Bohemian, artistic, and multicultural atmosphere. If you are a leisurely traveler like us, you will find it a cozy and warm small town with all the amenities of a big city. Life here is very affordable, and the place has a genuine feel, unlike the tourist-packed cities of Krakow or Prague. Given the current situation in Ukraine, I strongly advise against traveling to Ukraine at this time with a heavy heart. However, if you really want to go now, there are ways to get there. You can take a train from major Polish cities (ideally Krakow, as it is closer to the border) to the border town of Przemyśl. At the train station, you can complete the exit procedures and take a pre-purchased international ticket to Lviv or Kyiv, Ukraine.

An incredibly exciting restaurant with an appealing 'chemistry theme' complemented by 'rock' music in every aspect. The colorful 'chemical cocktails,' served in glassware or test tubes, are particularly noteworthy. The interior and facilities are very original! Each table is lit by an oil lamp, and there's a scent of the lamp in the hall, but you quickly get used to it, so it doesn't bother me at all! I ordered a small set of their test tube liqueurs, which reminded me of the chemistry lab from my student days. I enjoyed the taste, with alcohol content ranging from 15 to 25 degrees. I didn't drink the last four glasses as they were too strong for me. If you visit Lviv, I recommend checking it out; it's unlikely you'll find anything like it elsewhere. By the way, all the staff wear uniforms that match the bar's style, which is consistent with the establishment.

If you are in Lviv, you should definitely go to the top of the City Hall. Winding up the circular, sometimes narrow wooden staircase, there are about 350 steps (not including the walk to the 4th floor where the tower entrance is). Get to the observation deck at the top and enjoy the beautiful view over Lviv…it really is a stunning view of the Old Town, and the view is beautiful from every angle, so it’s a great opportunity to take some nice photos. It was fun trying to point out all the sights and places you visited. There are free lockers for visitors next to the ticket booth so you don't have to carry your backpack. Slava Ukraini! When you enter Kriyivka, a soldier behind the door will ask you for the password, which is 'Slava Ukraini'. If you don't say it, you won't be allowed into the restaurant. If you get the password right, the soldier will respond with 'Heroyem Slava'. Kriyivka is a one-of-a-kind bar in the world. You won't find a design like a war shelter anywhere else. There are many objects related to war. The restaurant is located underground and feels like an air-raid shelter. Food is served on metal plates, and water is served in metal cups. However, you can still enjoy a drink and try the waiter's recommendations like potato pancakes, half-meter sausages, and apple pancakes, along with a selection of Ukrainian wines and beers from small breweries. The food here is local, authentic, and very delicious. This is a very unique and authentic experience, and I will definitely return here the next time I visit Lviv.

If you are in Lviv, be sure to visit the Drunken Cherry shop. This is a store located in Rynok Plaza. Here you can buy a few bottles of delicious cherry liqueur as gifts for friends, or just get a wonderful glass of cherry liqueur on the spot, with almost no queues. There was no place to sit though, just a bar counter where you could stand like you would in Italy and drink a delicious cherry liqueur. By the way, they always throw a spoonful of cherry in the glass. The price of a glass is 100 hryvnias, and the price of a bottle starts from 235 hryvnias and goes up to 2,000 hryvnias. In short, even if you don't drink just come in and soak up the local vibe, I enjoyed the hot liqueur which is very useful in the winter. By the way, there were people taking secret photos outside the bar. I didn’t see me being photographed, but someone ran over and handed me a newspaper with the photo on it. The newspaper's headline reads Tourists Found, while the newspaper itself contains interesting news about Lviv. There is no fixed fee and you can give each tip according to your needs. The opera house is located in the heart of Lviv's historic center, on Svobody Avenue. It is one of the most beautiful and grand opera houses in Europe. It symbolizes the beauty and artistic architecture of the city center. We booked tickets online in advance before heading to Lviv, but you can also purchase tickets from the box office inside the building. Compared to other venues in Europe and America, the ticket prices are very affordable, which is great. Besides that, we admired the beauty of the building, with its grand architecture and sculptures! You must watch at least one performance, ballet, or opera. The opera house has a cloakroom, and you can enjoy a glass of wine and some snacks before or during the intermission. Highly recommended!

A typical Armenian church. If you enjoy religious tourism, this is a great place to visit. They say this small church was built in 1370! It doesn't compete with the larger and more famous churches in Lviv, but it is much older than the others. For me, the interior with its stone arches, carved ceilings, and colorful murals is vastly different from the Baroque and Gothic-style churches we usually visit and much older. The well-preserved history is truly fascinating, providing a soothing effect to visitors from the inside. The detailed architecture and exciting interior craftsmanship, along with the hand-painted walls and the overall heavenly atmosphere, make it a must-see. This is a very worthwhile church to visit. The entrance is easy to find, located on Virmenska Street.

Beautiful sights close to the city center, and I think this building is one of the best in Lviv. From the outside, you'd think you were looking at a French castle! Unlike some buildings in Ukraine, the building itself is in very good condition. The palace dates from the 1800s, so it’s not just the style of the rooms at the time that’s appealing, but also the art. Lovely collection, mostly European including Goya and Georges de Artur, but surprisingly there is a collection gifted by Puyi, the last emperor of China. I highly recommend you visit the interior and the works contained within. I visited here because I wanted to see the decoration in the palace. I loved wandering from room to room in the palace, admiring the well-preserved paintings, fireplaces, and ornate gilded mirrors. I had no idea it was a famous art gallery with pieces dating back over 500 years, but the paintings, sculptures and furniture were all in top condition,. It allows you to get close to paintings and sculptures and photograph them. Lviv is filled with beautiful churches, and St. George's Cathedral is certainly not to be missed. Although it is a bit of a distance from the city center, it is located on a small hill. From the main street, turn into an old alley, park your bike in the beautiful and shady Ivan Franko Park, and walk up a small hill slope to reach this beautiful yellow church. St. George's Cathedral is a Baroque-Rococo style cathedral, surrounded by beautiful gardens/parks. There is also an observation deck on the church platform overlooking the city. The cathedral itself is large and well-preserved. There are several statues around it that are somewhat hidden, making it a great place to explore. In the attic of the cathedral, there is a statue of St. George, the dragon slayer, and a cross next to the entrance. The altar area is decorated with ancient murals and monuments. It was love 💕 at first sights, I fell for Lviv during my first visit one winter weekend many years ago and since then I visit Lviv wherever I can, usually a few times per year. Lviv is, hands down, one of the most beautiful 🤩 cities in Europe. You will find the most stunning 😍 buildings in the historical old town, with impressive grand townhouses painted in pastel colors, but other parts of the city are worth a visit too. Lviv was hardly destroyed during World War 2 and so today we can admire the amazing old architecture in the city 🏙️.

The Church of the Assumption is an important church in Lviv, Ukraine. It was built between 1591 and 1629 during the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth period. It is located in the center of Lviv and is one of the oldest churches in the city. Its architect was Kuban Mykhailo Lukashevych and other craftsmen. It was built with donations from local citizens The Cathedral of the Assumption was originally an Orthodox church and was originally used for worship by Orthodox believers. With the changes of history, it has changed its faith many times, becoming a Roman Catholic church, a Greek Rite church, etc., and returned to Eastern Orthodoxy in the late 19th century. Its architectural style is Baroque: both its exterior and interior reflect the characteristics of this style. Old Town in Lviv is a historical part of the city and it’s downtown. It’s like an open air museum. Streets here are very picturesque, because almost every building has its own history here. The main touristic sightseeings are located here, but besides them at every corner you will find something interesting. Old sculptures, ancient pharmacy, building from different epochs, theaters and cathedrals. Also it’s a very popular place for different festivals. Lviv is very famous for it’s chocolate. It’s one of the oldest churches in Lviv (western part of Ukraine). It was built in 1370 year. It combines old Russian, Roman and Gothic styles. During the history it served in different ways: like church, like a monastery and even like storage place for different paintings. But now it was renovated and opened its doors again for everyone. Wall frescoes, old paintings and carvings survived and now we can admire them here. Next to the church there is a small yard where you can sit and have a rest. St Yura Cathedral is one of the main Cathedrals of Greek Catholic community in Lviv, Ukraine. And it’s a very famous touristic attraction. It’s located on the hill and very close to the downtown. So, you will easily find it. 📍Address- Svyatogo Yura Sq., 5, Lviv It was built at the beginning of 19th century, with the elements of the baroque style. Decorations are nice and look great. It’s a working cathedral with regular servings. So, probably on Sundays it can be very crowded. Entrance is free. You can go inside and have a look from inside. Atmosphere there is very peaceful. St Olga and Elizabeth Cathedral is located in Lviv, western part of Ukraine, between the main railway station and the Old Town. So, all the people, arriving in the city, can enjoy it’s beauty. It was built in 19th century and represents a neo-gothic style, with its high ceilings, peaking roofs and windows. Now this cathedral belongs to Greek Catholic local community. The entrance is free.
