2025 Luqu Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in February)

Halfway between Lanzhou in Gansu province and Chengdu in Sichuan lies Langmusi, a small border town famed for its Tibetan monasteries and surrounding mountains. You can get here by bus from either Lanzhou or Chengdu in about 6 to 8 hours. Although there is really only one main street here, you can still find lots of places to stay such as hotels and hostels. The place is quite popular among Chinese tourists, so you won't have to look far for accommodation. The same goes for food. All along the main street, there are plenty of small restaurants. You won't find a KFC or McDonald's here, but that is a good thing as you can discover the local cuisine. There are several Tibetan restaurants where you can have yak meat or momos, but my favorite is the yak yogurt. You won't be bored in Langmusi. You can easily spend a couple of days here exploring the monasteries and climbing the mountains such as the red rock mountain. A little further away from the town are some other beautiful places such as Zhagana, Zoige grasslands and flower lake. They are all easily accessible on a day trip. For something a little more active contact the Black Tent Cafe. They can take you on horse riding tours, wildlife watching tours or even let you fly in a hot air balloon.

Langmu Temple | Gannan must pass the pilgrimage site Some people say "Do not come to Langmu Temple, equal to not to Gannan", which shows the importance of this Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Gannan. Langmu Temple is generally planned to travel in Gannan or North Sichuan. It is close to the Gannan Labrang Monastery to the north and the Zoige Grassland to the south. [Recommended travel itinerary] arrive at Langmu Temple at noon on the first day. In the afternoon, visit the Gedi Temple in Sichuan, then walk to the Bailongjiang Gorge and stay in the town at night. The next morning, I went to the Gandan Sai Chi Temple in Gansu. After that, you can take the Noons shuttle bus to leave Langmu Temple and go to other attractions in Gannan. [What can I experience here? 1 Langmu Temple Riding Langmu Temple There is a horse-riding tour nearby. The horse team has a consultation shop in the town. The price ranges from 150-400 yuan. The horse-riding destination includes the source of Bailongjiang and Hongshi. Cliffs, flowers and other places. 2 Langmu Temple celestial burial is biased toward Gansu in Langmu Temple. There is a celestial burial platform on the back hill of Saiji Temple. The celestial burial in this area is more open and can be viewed by tourists. If you have the consent of your family, you can take pictures. 3 Turning the mountains and turning the water to the stupa Tibetan people's devout faith is the snow lotus in the sky, full of pure to pure. They are kind and simple, and they only turn for the faith. An ancient turn of the road outside Xiahe Labrang Monastery is a lap I have to go to the Labrang Monastery every time. Traveling with Trip.com Season 16 - Gansu-Qinghai-Ningxia Road Trip (21) A Scenic Spot Worth the Effort - Zecha Stone Forest Gannan, Gansu Sep 16, 2023 Sunny, 5-21°C, max altitude 3,500 m. The first setback on the Gansu-Qinghai-Ningxia road trip. The road to Zecha Stone Forest is full of potholes and washboard roads for about 30 km, making for slow and dusty driving. The car hit a pothole and got a flat tire. With no help in sight, I pulled over and changed the spare tire myself in 30 minutes. After the visit, I drove nearly 50 km to find a tire shop and replaced the tire, finally feeling relieved. After driving on a "pre-liberation" road, I appreciate the "post-liberation" road even more. Today, I continued to explore Gannan, passing through Sangke Grassland. Just over 10 km west of Xiahe City, I entered the vast and beautiful Sangke Grassland. Surrounded by mountains, it is a highland meadow with an average altitude of over 3,000 m and a major livestock base in Gannan Prefecture (Figures 2-3). After a difficult journey and a tire change, I finally arrived at Zecha Stone Forest at 1 pm. Zecha Stone Forest (4A) is located in the south of Luqu County (Figure 4). It was worth the trip. The scenery looked familiar, like the Tianshan Mountains. The mountains are steep, the stone forest stands tall, and the forest is lush and green (Figure 5). The scenic spot is characterized by numerous stone peaks in various shapes, tall and majestic (Figures 6-7). The Stone Gate is the core of the scenic spot. Two stone cliffs stand over 100 m high (Figure 1). Walking along the plank road by the cliff, I saw the rushing Zecha River below and a strip of blue sky above, with clouds swirling, a breathtaking sight (Figure 8). Through the Stone Gate, the view opened up. The clear Yangsu Lake flows through the Stone Gate and suddenly falls to form a small but powerful waterfall (Figure 9). Gannan is a popular tourist destination in Gansu. I don't know why the road near Gahai Zecha Scenic Area is in such poor condition, with no sign of construction or renovation, which seems inappropriate. I arrived at Langmusi Town on the Gansu-Sichuan border in the evening and stayed overnight. Tomorrow, I will continue to explore Gannan.
