2024 Lombok Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in November)
Lombok is located in Indonesia’s West Nusa Tenggara Province. It is one of the Lesser Sunda Islands. Millions of years ago, Lombok and the surrounding islands were isolated from the rest of the world. Hence, they have maintained much of their original biological species and ecological environments. The island is home to Mount Rinjani, one of the highest peaks in Indonesia, and is surrounded by clear ocean water and soft white sandy beaches. This makes Lombok an ideal vacation destination.

Secret Pink Beach in Lombok, Indonesia 🇮🇩
Pink Beach in South Lombok was a stunning experience. The sand really had a soft pink hue, created by crushed coral mixed with white sand, making it feel like a hidden paradise. The water was crystal clear, perfect for snorkeling and spotting vibrant marine life. The beach was relatively quiet, offering a peaceful atmosphere. The surrounding cliffs and hills provided a beautiful backdrop, and a short hike up gave an incredible panoramic view of the coastline. It was an unforgettable spot, where nature’s colors came together in such a unique and mesmerizing way.

Exploring the Charms of Lombok Island
#indonesiatrip
Lombok Island, situated just east of Bali, offers a serene and captivating alternative to its more famous neighbor. Known for its pristine beaches, turquoise waters, and lush landscapes, Lombok is a paradise for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike.
One of the island's highlights is Mount Rinjani, Indonesia's second-highest volcano, which offers challenging yet rewarding trekking opportunities. The ascent to its summit provides stunning panoramic views and the chance to explore crater lakes and hot springs along the way.
For beach enthusiasts, the Gili Islands off Lombok's northwest coast are a haven of white sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters ideal for snorkeling and diving. Each of the three islands—Gili Trawangan, Gili Air, and Gili Meno—has its own unique charm, ranging from vibrant nightlife to secluded tranquility.
Lombok's indigenous culture is also a draw, with traditional Sasak villages offering insight into local customs and crafts such as weaving and pottery. The island's culinary scene is rich and diverse, with fresh seafood and traditional Sasak dishes that tantalize the taste buds.
Whether you seek adventure, relaxation, or cultural immersion, Lombok Island promises a memorable and enchanting experience, away from the crowds yet brimming with natural beauty and cultural richness.
Mawun Beach
#beachlife
Beautiful beach. We can do various activities here, such as fishing, swimming, jogging and even just sitting quietly while enjoying the beautiful beach and a bottle of cold drink can be something extraordinary here. Not to mention the activity of local residents landing boats after returning from fishing is a sight in itself.
I recommend not coming here in summer, a bit of green scenery in summer!
Kura kura beach
Amazing beach with scenic view.
The coastline is quite long and has white sand. On the right side of the beach there are hills with corn plants. You can hike and enjoy the beautiful scenery around.
For swimming at the beach it seems less recommended. Because the beach is rocky and the waves are sometimes big.
But don't worry, there are lots of cool photo spots here. Especially the small "turtle" shaped dyke which is the hallmark of this beach.
The beach atmosphere is quite calm and comfortable.
If the weekend is rather crowded.

kuta beach mandalika
The atmosphere is serene with a view of the open sea. Highly recommended for holidays and hang out. The facilities are well maintained and the roads are very wide. To enter this place is free, only I pay for parking.
The location is very strategic, there are many hotels around this beach.
However, the convenience is a little disturbed because many traders offer their wares by following along.
But overall is very good. Semova in the future can be managed and developed even better.

Lombok is a city situated in Indonesia comparable to bali but much better as it has lesser tourists yet it still has many amazing clean beaches with clear blue waters and many amazing hikes that you can choose from based on your comfort level. With the clear blue skies, you will be able to look upon the horizon from the mountains down to the blue waters with the mountains in the backdrop.
One view that you will not forget.

Kuta Mandalika, Lombok
#wecreate
Kuta Beach, Lombok, is vastly different to it’s more famous namesake on the Island of Bali. It still retains the charm of a small village, just venturing into the wild world of international tourism. Getting there was not that easy. I went across on a fast ferry from Bali, and hired an overpriced scooter motorbike. A few hours travel down south and I arrived. The beach was beautiful. Warm water and gritty yellow sand, and, of course, plenty of people around to sell you a drink or snack. If you like surfing or diving, this is a great place to visit…or even if you just like a quiet pace to life. In the evening the town shuts down, with little late-night activity. The restaurants are plentiful, and within an hour or two are some great locations to go exploring.

Sunset viewpoint in Kuta, Lombok
I have never regretted a sunset! one of the best I ever saw was in Kuta, south Lombok. Tanjung Aan is an easy scooter ride from the main town of Kuta and well signposted. It is very popular with tourists and locals so get there early to secure a good position!
You will also pass vendors selling snacks and drinks so it is a good place for a date. Perhaps bring your own food and eat h the sun set over the horizon!

The beautiful Jeeva Klui resort in Lombok
One of the best hotels I stayed in on my travels in Indonesia was at Jeeva Klui resort. It is located near Sengiggi beach on the west side of Lombok. Its private beach is ideal to watch the sun rise and set, and the hotel has a stunning infinity pool to help you secure those Instagram pictures. The staff are friendly and even remember your names which is a great touch!

Denda Seruni
Fine Seruni Tourism is a tourist destination built on a river where initially the place was a garbage and industrial waste disposal site.Fine Seruni is taken from the name of a beautiful princess who is a legend from the village of Seruni Mumbul. This name is very appropriate to describe the swamps that have now turned into beautiful tourist spots.Apart from offering beautiful views of the swamp, there is also a unique tree house that you must climb because the view from the top of this tree house is so beautiful. Not only that, the best photo spots are also available, such as the heart spot to the spot for umbrellas made of straw.
Blue Lake
This lake is called Blue Lake because the water is bluish green. This lake was formed due to the confluence of two rivers which flowed and collected into a large pond or lake. Its bluish color is the result of the presence of aquatic plants at the bottom, so it appears blue. Located in the Nuraksa protected forest area, this lake is even more special.Surrounded by big shady and green trees. Also far from vehicle and noise pollution. The location of this lake is in Central Lombok Regency, to be precise, Karang Sidemen Village,North Batukliang District and is 28 kilometers from the city of Praya, with a distance of 50 minutes.
Gili Meno, the honeymoon island
We just loved our four days in Gili Meno, the island is a lot smaller and quieter that its two sister islands Gili T and Gili Air and it does justice to the nickname The Honeymoon Island. So many beautiful romantic spots and so quiet. We can't pay air to get back. Totally recommend.

The Hidden Secret of Lombok
Visit Mount Rinjani is one of the most famous and beautiful mountain in Indonesia. Mount Rinjani is an active volcano on the island of Lombok. Administratively the mountain is in the Regency of North Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. It rises to 3,726 metres, making it the second highest volcano in Indonesia. It is also the highest point in the Indonesian province of West Nusa Tenggara. The climb to the top may not be easy but it’s worth it, and is widely regarded as one of the best views in the country.

Good morning from Gili T.
These were the only swings I found left on the island still standing in the ocean. If you wake up early enough, most of the island is still asleep. We took advantage and decided to dip in the sea with no one around. we had the entire beach to ourselves. The view of the sunrise was gorgeous and consuming as it changed colors from grey to pink and purple hues. Throughout the morning, the sky turned bluer and clouds started to form over the nearby mountains across the sea. This is definitely a sight to see.
These pair of swings are on the northwest side of the island.

Pink beach of Lombok
A very stunning beach with natural pink sand. The clarity of the sea water that is not polluted with garbage on the bottom. The right time to visit because there are no visitors at all. It might be more suitable to visit it in the evening. But the afternoon also did not disappoint. Just a bit hot!! There are two different beaches. The journey to the first beach is quite challenging due to the unpaved road conditions. However, the view presented makes the trip very worthwhile. Suitable if visited using four-wheel drive or motorbike only. Huts are available for rest or picnics... #awesomepic
In nature, lies the cure for humanity.
This is Sembalun Village, East Lombok, Indonesia. Located on the steep slopes of Mount Rinjani. It gets very cold at night but as soon as the sun comes out, a magnificient scenery is revealed. One of the best panorama walk attractions in Lombok.
Ps: You also can explore the farm and taste the fresh fruits like strawberry and apple.

Set amid an appealing tropical garden on the popular southeastern stretch of the island, the Beach House Resort offers a range of rooms to suit a variety of budgets. Lower-category rooms are ideal for budget-seekers, while two-bedroom units with private pools appeal to honeymooners. Rooms are separated by a dirt road from the restaurant and beach, and the atmosphere is relaxed and quiet on-site. Unfortunately, while the hotel's design is bright, attractive, and beachy, some spaces are showing wear.
The resort is looking to spruce these spaces up during renovations that are ongoing until June 2019, but this means guests won't have access to the lovely common pool. Travelers may want to wait to visit until after refurbishments are finished, or book a room with a private plunge pool. Couples and groups of friends are the primary clientele.

The hotel overlooks Setangi Beach on the northwest side of Lombok island, about 15 minutes by car from downtown Senggigi, a lively district filled with restaurants, bars, and nightclubs.
A walking path through manicured green lawns leads to the open-air reception pavilion, draped with flowing vines from its low-slung rooftop. Inside, cocoa-brown rattan sofas and teak furniture provide a neutral backdrop to a corner gallery that pops with colorful local artwork. In an adjacent pavilion, a casual bar with contemporary platform sofas opens to expansive views of the ocean and the long infinity pool, which is surrounded by handsome teak decking and cushioned sun beds. The same gorgeous view is shared by the open-air restaurant on the pool's other end, where guests sip morning coffee on a terrace perched on the white sand. The vast majority of guests here are international couples seeking a quiet beach vacation.

With views of Mount Agung in the neighboring Bali and the turquoise waters of the Lombok Strait, this beachfront property offers a romantic setting geared toward couples. The hotel is dominated by peaked roofs, wooden elements, and warm earth tones interspersed with colorful artwork, pond features, and stone sculptures. A winding stone path connects the three ocean-view infinity pools, other facilities, and the rooms. While the ambience is generally relaxed and tranquil, the peace can be disrupted by beach vendors trying to sell their goods and calls to prayer from a nearby mosque.
Qunci Villas Hotel is located along Mangsit beach in Senggigi, a strip of tourist beaches on the west coast of Lombok. There are several restaurants and shops within walking distance of the hotel, and Senggigi center can be reached in five minutes by car.

Opened in 1987 and one of the first hotels in downtown Senggigi 30 years ago, Kila Senggigi Beach Lombok occupies a prime beachfront location within a short walk of restaurants, bars. and shops. Guests arrive at an entrance with steps flanked by a lovely cascading water feature and lanterns, leading to an elegant open-air lobby. Decorations throughout the rest of the property are more subdued; expect a traditional design of earthy tones, natural materials such as rattan, and pale hues in artwork and linens. Due to its age, there's some evident wear and tear, and the property overall could use a refresh. All restaurants have an open-air setting and at least partial sea views. Despite its central setting, the atmosphere is quiet and relaxed here. Guests are primarily couples, plus some families and groups of friends.

A tropical island and nature hideaway vibe permeates the various locations that make up the Scallywags Smugglers Hideaway, which is popular among divers as well as holidaying couples and groups of friends. Opening right onto the sand, the attractive, partly open-air beach club restaurant has a vaulted thatched roof, whitewashed walls, and a long, curved bar made of handsome solid wood. There's a simple reception area with locally inspired canvases and a handsome dining table that serves as a dark-wood front desk. One enclosed pool, complete with a water feature, sits under an attractive bamboo-beamed roof, and is surrounded by lush plants and a small paved deck. At Mango Retreat, partly open-air hallways with boulder-design paths and bamboo-fashioned ceilings lead to attractive bamboo and thatch cabanas and a beautiful outdoor pool in a shady walled garden.

Buildings at this resort were crafted of bamboo, straw, and stone, helping to create a casual island look that sets the right relaxed tone for a stay here. The spacious open-air lobby has several wicker seating areas where guests can hang out to use the free Wi-Fi, read books from the shelf, watch TV, or just relax in the laid-back setting. A bar is adjacent to the reception desk, and guests are welcomed on arrival with a cold drink. The Oberoi, Lombok only has 50 rooms, but the sprawling property has 24 acres of beautiful, manicured lawns dotted with palm trees. It's relatively removed from other resorts, and views of the Bali Sea can be seen throughout. The tropical setting emanates from the open-air, thatched-roof pavilions that house the spacious lobby and restaurants. Staff are dressed in traditional Indonesian garb and are on-hand in the reception area, which has rattan furniture and overlooks lovely ponds and reflection pools.
