Exhaustively compiled guide essentials for skiing in the Three Valleys
Must-visit list.
The Three Valleys in France is vast, and the weather is unpredictable, so make sure to visit the beautiful sights on a sunny day❗️ Here's the must-visit list for you, arrange according to the weather:
1️⃣ Ice Cave next to the Courchevel cable car VT13, best visited on a sunny day outside the cross path
2️⃣Courchevel 3200m (the highest peak in the Three Valleys) take the large cable car that fits a hundred people, it might close when it's windy, and you won't see anything when it's foggy
3️⃣FOILE DOUCE bar, world-famous for its after-ski electronic parties, every day from 3:00-5:00 PM, you need to queue up for a security check at the entrance
4️⃣High-end shopping street in Courchevel, the shop assistants are very nice, they'll chat about skiing even if you don't buy anything, the shops are like the clothing stores down your street
5️⃣Beautiful Belle Park, where you can crawl through pipes and tunnels, there's a long chase path, many types of boxes, even small kids with legs can jump, and there's also a mini U-tube. There are many parks in the Three Valleys, just go in when you encounter one, some require a tow
6️⃣Courchevel Town, a good place for affordable skiing gear, the overall cost of dining is cheaper than in Courchevel
⚠️When skiing in the Three Valleys🏂⛷️
✅Bring a big mountain board for easy switching between on and off-piste
✅Bring a map🗺️, download the Three Valleys map app (sometimes it shows real-time slope openings)
✅For crossing the Three Valleys, pack a backpack: bring a map, water, food, chocolate, and if you plan to ski off-piste, bring the three essentials for backcountry skiing
✅Bring money❗️If you take the wrong slope and miss the cable car, you'll need to take a bus or taxi back to your valley, some routes are 🆓, but some are not, like from Méribel to Courchevel you can only take a taxi
✅Bring walkie-talkies, the ones from home will work. Sometimes the signal is bad on the mountain due to strong winds, so you might have to repeat yourself
About the most convenient place to stay in the Three Valleys:
This time I stayed in Méribel, the cheapest accommodation area in the Three Valleys, but overall, I wouldn't really recommend it, because it's not very convenient to go to any valley, and Méribel is at the lowest altitude with too many flat linking paths
👍Staying in Courchevel is probably the best value for money considering all factors, it's convenient to go anywhere, the town is nice to stroll around, and there are many restaurants
Staying in Courchevel is for the wealthy, as everything from dining to accommodation is expensive, but it's also an option if you want to splurge
