All Trip Moments about Larache
LAARACHE
Larache, like the other towns on this stretch of coast, is sleepy and laid-back for most of the year, bursting into life in summer when Moroccan tourists come to the beach. The charming town otherwise sees few visitors. The new town has some grand Spanish-era architecture, particularly around the central Place de la Liberation (the former Plaza de Espana), while the tiny crumbling medina was being renovated at the time of writing. North of the river Loukos, on the edge of town, is the main site, the overgrown ruins of ancient Lixus, the legendary site of the Gardens of Hesperide
Larache , A city to remember
Located on the Moroccan coast, where the Loukkos River meets the Atlantic Ocean. It is considered as one of the most important cities in the north side of Morocco. The city is also considered to be a Portuguese town. The city is surrounded by beautiful, historical and sites to to be missed. First, Lixus just ten minutes drive from the city center and Azilah the pearl of Morocco just 30 min drive Northwest of the city.
Lixus and Laarch City
Lixus an ancient city founded by Phoenicians before the city of Carthage. Its distinguishing feature is that it was continuously occupied from antiquity to the Islamic Era, and has ruins dating to the Phoenician, Punic, Mauritanian, Roman and Islamic periods.
Enjoy a short walk in the medina of Larache, it has some grand Spanish-era architecture, particularly around the central Place de la Liberation.
