Underground River and Cave in Lanxi
#createwithtrip
We were on a day trip in Jinhua and we wanted to go somewhere to make our trip worth it. We have been to the Double Dragon Cave in Jinhua and a friend gave us information about an underground river/cave in Lanxi. So, we went to Lanxi by Didi and arrived there in less than an hour.
The place was a little bit far away from the City and it is quite the countryside feel. The river had a very dark brown in color and we were told it was because of the continuos rain. We paid 80 rmb each and we had a tour guide. First we had an 8-10 minute boat ride going to the cave so as they say underground river. The cave was actually better than the Double Dragon Cave. We really liked the last part of the cave. It was so huge and so magnificent.

They are magnificent and exquisitely crafted, and are a unique sight in Jiangnan! Each bridge has its own unique history and legend. For example, it is said that when Zhu Yuanzhang was a child, he lay on the Taiping Bridge while begging for food, and his body formed the characters "Tian" and "Zi," symbolizing good fortune. Discover Lanxi's hidden gem hotels
🧹Soundproofing/Cleanliness: The hotel environment is really nice, you can tell the owner put a lot of effort into the decor. Cleanliness is always the most important thing for a hotel, only when it's clean can you feel at ease!
🏘️️️Room type/Layout: The hotel has a lot of room types, which is not good for people who have trouble making decisions, haha! I stayed in the smart projection room, which was really nice. The projection was clear, and the smart butler was convenient, perfect for lazy people!
🛌Supplies/Facilities: The hotel facilities are quite complete, there's even a small gym. There's also a terrace upstairs, which is great for drinking tea and chatting.
💗Other tips: One last thing, the rooms are really big, I feel like the size alone is worth the price!

I ordered takeout and it was delivered by a robot, which called in advance when it arrived at the door.

Sisters who want to travel around Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai, look here!
Take photos here 📷 and you'll get great shots!
📍Location: Lanhu Tourism Resort, Zhejiang
🎫Ticket: Free. The special train and farm combo ticket is CNY 68 per person.
⏰Opening hours: 8:30–17:00
There are many small animals on the farm. It should be fun to take your kids there. You can feed them carrots 🥕 and grass at the farm gate. The animals here are very friendly and gentle, and they won't bite you.
🌟Note: The train 🚂 is said to be very crowded on holidays and weekends, so you have to queue up. If you want to go, you should plan your time in advance or travel at off-peak times. We went on a weekday, and there were very few people, so we didn't have to queue up at all. ✌️ The resort is very large, and it may take a day to visit slowly. If you just go to the train and farm, it may only take two or three hours. ⏰
📍Location 2: The large lawn behind Zhejiang Normal University. It's really beautiful on sunny days. It's a great place to relax and take a walk. 👍 You can go on a picnic 🧺 and take beautiful photos with your friends.
⏰Opening hours: Closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays, so don't go there for nothing.
Free travel in Quzhou!
Free travel in Quzhou! The first weekend of free travel in Quzhou (November 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025, excluding the Spring Festival holiday) is coming. Quzhou is a fun place with delicious food. Highly recommended. You can make a reservation at the entrance of the scenic spot, which is very convenient!
Day 1: Jinhua Lanxi · Youbu Ancient Town → Quzhou Longyou · Longyou Grottoes
Youbu Ancient Town is about ten kilometers away from Longyou. You must go and see it! At first, I thought it was on the way, but after seeing it, I was amazed at how great the ancients were!
Day 2: Quzhou Jiangshan · Qingyang Mao's Cultural Village → Fugai Mountain → Nianbadu Ancient Town
If you have enough time, you can visit Fugai Mountain and Nianbadu Ancient Town together, and then visit Jianglang Mountain and Qingyang Mao's Cultural Village (close to each other) on the third day. Because of the tight schedule, I visited three scenic spots in one day and didn't have time to visit Nianbadu during the day. The exploration route of Fugai Mountain is super fun for children. They actively explored the whole journey for three hours and urged us adults to walk faster. Be sure to pay attention to safety during the adventure!
Day 3: Quzhou Jiangshan · Jianglang Mountain → Return
Tickets for Jianglang Mountain Scenic Area are free, and the shuttle bus costs CNY 15 per person (round trip). Walk up and down the Eighteen Bends to the foot of the mountain. The whole journey takes four hours. At Xiake Pavilion, you can see the whole view of the Three Stones at close range. The Three Stones and Yixiantian are in two directions. You can go to see the Three Stones first, and then go back to Yixiantian. Huixian Rock, Three Stones, and Yixiantian are the most worth seeing in my opinion!

Zhejiang Ancient Villages|Visit four national-protected ancient villages in Lanxi in one day.
There are many ancient villages preserved in Lanxi area, especially these four ancient villages. They are all national cultural protection units. They have well-preserved ancient village patterns and ancient residential building communities from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Each of the several villages has its own characteristics and distances. It’s not too far apart, so it’s perfect for a one-day trip.
The regional culture of Lanxi is influenced by both Jinhua and Southern Anhui. It is reflected in the architecture, which has both the freshness and delicacy of Huizhou architecture and the dignified atmosphere of Wu style architecture. The current commercial atmosphere of tourism development in these villages is not strong. It is a good experience for weekend leisure and relaxation and experiencing the culture of Jiangnan ancient villages. In short, if you want to spend seven days to understand Jiangnan, you can consider making this trip one of them.
Xinye Ancient Village (P10~14):
Let’s start with Xinye Ancient Village, which now belongs to Jiande City, Hangzhou. Xinye used to be called Baixiaye and it belonged to Lanxi. In 1951, it was placed under Shouchang County and named Xinye Village. Xinye Village has been home to the Ye clan since the Southern Song Dynasty. It has been passed down for more than 30 generations and has been passed down in an orderly manner. Various buildings in the village including ancestral halls, halls, halls, pavilions, towers and temples are richly and completely preserved. Representative buildings include Wenchang Pavilion, Youxu Hall, Chongren Hall, Shuangmei Hall and Xishan Ancestral Hall, etc.
Level: The seventh batch of national security units;
🎫Ticket: 60 (can use Hangzhou Cultural Tourism Card)
Zhiyan Ancient Village (P15~18):
Zhiyan Ancient Village is less than 5 kilometers away from Xinye Ancient Village. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it was an important post station from Lanxi to Yanzhou, and it prospered for a while. The scale of Zhiyan Ancient Village is not very large, but the layout of the ancient village is relatively well-preserved, with "Jiutang Street" still remaining, especially Xiaosi Hall, which was built in the Ming Dynasty and is worth a visit.
Level: Sixth batch of national security units;
🎫Tickets: None
Zhuge Bagua Village (P1~5):
The largest settlement of Zhuge Liang’s descendants in China. The village is secluded in the middle of a circle of hills. It is said to be laid out in an "eight array pattern" with scattered buildings and thousands of streets. The pond in the middle is as wide as a mirror, suitable for relaxing. Zhuge Village is located at the transportation hub of the three counties. The villagers have been engaged in the medicine industry for generations. It is also an ancient village with a relatively strong commercial tradition. However, this business is not a tourism development business. Today's villages are usually less noisy and peaceful. The representative attractions in the village include the Prime Minister's Ancestral Hall, Dagong Hall, Tianyi Hall, Yongxi Hall, Shangtang Ancient Commercial Street, etc.
Level: Together with Changle Village, it is the fourth batch of national security units.
🎫Tickets: 90
Changle Ancient Village (P6~9):
Adjacent to Zhuge Bagua Village, there are 127 well-preserved residential buildings from the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. Representative buildings include Jin Dashi Ancestral Hall, Xiangxian Hall, Wangyun Tower, and Harmony Garden. It is said that Zhu Yuanzhang once stationed troops here and gained blessings by worshiping Beidou. It is known as the "Blessed Land of Changle".
Level: Together with Zhuge Village Residential Area, it is the fourth batch of national security units.
🎫Tickets: The village scenic spot is being renovated, and there are no tickets for the time being.

The Mustard Seed Garden, which shares its name with the garden in Nanjing
The Mustard Seed Garden is located at the foot of Lanyin Mountain in Lanxi City, Zhejiang Province. It is an ancient-style garden built in memory of Li Yu, a famous dramatist, drama theorist, and novelist of the Qing Dynasty. It inherits the architectural style and name of the Mustard Seed Garden in Nanjing and reflects the ancient and simple connotation of the Mustard Seed Garden everywhere.
The design concept of the Mustard Seed Garden reflects the architectural characteristics of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The garden is small but includes pavilions, terraces, towers, small bridges, fish ponds, and precious flowers and trees, making it appear large in its smallness, secluded in its winding paths, elegant in its antiquity, and unique in its layout. It is a typical Jiangnan courtyard design style.
The Mustard Seed Garden is adjacent to the Lanxi City Museum. It is closed for maintenance every Monday, opens at 9:00 AM, and closes at 5:30 PM.

Youbu Ancient Town, one of the four ancient towns of the millennium
Youbu Ancient Town is located in Lanxi City, Jinhua City, Zhejiang Province. It is one of the four ancient towns in Zhejiang Province and has rich historical and cultural value.
The ancient town is famous for its early tea culture, but there is another treasure that is not widely known, which is the Polaroid Antique Camera Museum. Since this is also the hometown of the world-renowned photography master Lang Jingshan, the museum was built to promote and spread photography culture.
The exhibition hall covers an area of more than 800 square meters and houses more than 400 pieces. The entire museum is divided into two main thematic areas: the China Pavilion and the World Pavilion, showcasing classic cameras from various periods and countries over the past 180 years since the invention of photography. The exhibits are wonderful and highly recommended. Nowadays, people know very little about these historically significant cameras. The Polaroid Antique Camera Museum plays an active role in promoting and spreading photography culture. It is a popular study tour base that integrates fun, interactivity, and knowledge.
Lan Lake is a great place for vacation and recreation
Lan Lake Tourist Resort is located within the boundaries of Lanxi City, Zhejiang Province. It is a comprehensive tourist destination that integrates tourism, leisure, and ecology.
The main attraction, Lan Bridge, is a pedestrian bridge shaped like an orchid leaf. It provides shade, rest, and viewing functions, making it a highlight of the scenic area.
Observation Deck: Offers an excellent spot for overlooking the lake view.
The resort is open all year round, from 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM daily. Recently, the entrance fee has been waived for visitors. 😜🩷
Youbu Ancient Town|A Kingdom of Snacks with Morning Tea Everywhere
Youbu Ancient Town gathers the culinary essence of Quzhou and Jinhua. We arrived a little after 8 o'clock, and the parking lot was already full, with various tour groups bringing people over. Before entering the ancient town, it felt okay and not too crowded, but once we actually entered, it was overwhelming with people everywhere, creating a full-on banquet atmosphere.
✔ Rouchenzi
Almost every household has it; it's a traditional Youbu delicacy. The egg is particularly tender, and the meat is very fresh and tender. In the past, when a daughter returned home after getting married, her family would make Rouchenzi for the son-in-law, with the amount of meat representing the level of approval for him. Both of our families tried it, and Wuchun's tasted better, while Qingfeng's was a bit salty.
✔ Jizigao
This is also a famous local snack. Meat and chopped green onions are stuffed into a large pancake, then pan-fried with oil, and an egg is cracked into the pancake. Anything fried in oil smells particularly fragrant and tastes delicious to me.
✔ Tofu Tangyuan
These are balls made of tofu, meat filling, and flour. The soup is very fresh, and the balls are tender and delicious.
✔ Scallion Flower Steamed Bun
Scallions and meat are mixed and wrapped in an open white steamed bun. The bun is soft and glutinous, not bad.
✔ Meat Balls
The meatballs are made of sweet potato flour, sticky and chewy, perfect for one bite.
✔ Qing Dynasty Wontons
This is an intangible cultural heritage. The small wontons are tiny and require skill to wrap. The taste is just average, but you can try them if you have an empty stomach.
Near the exit of the ancient town, there is a folk herbal medicine shop. The owner runs the shop himself and also diagnoses and prescribes medicine. Although he can't write some characters, he speaks knowledgeably about health issues after taking the pulse. Besides tourists, many locals also come for consultations. A week's worth of medicine costs over 300 yuan, with fixed prices.

🏞️Today, I set foot on this magical land again, Zhuge Bagua Village. Here, it is not only the treasure of Lanxi but also the treasure of Chinese culture. Six years ago, I first came to this place, young and naive. Now returning, the years have left their marks on my face.

Especially the Tianyi Hall, standing at the highest point of the village, overlooking the entire village, it feels like you can see the whole history at a glance. The water lilies in the pond are even more breathtaking, blooming most gorgeously before noon, and if you arrive late, you can only admire their closed posture.
🌸Strolling in the village, it's as if you can hear the echoes of history, feel the wisdom and ingenuity of the ancients. Everything here is so real, so vivid, as if time has stood still, intoxicating visitors.

Discovering Zhixian: A Pristine Ancient Village, Free from the Dust of Commercialization
Zhixian, a serene and unspoiled ancient village, stands out for its simplicity and naturalness compared to nearby Zhuge and Xinye. Here, without the constraints of admission fees or the disturbance of commercialization, you can have a truly immersive experience. You are free to wander among the ancient buildings, press the shutter, and capture the traces of history; you can listen to the babbling brook, feeling the wisdom of the ancients and the mystery of Feng Shui.
Walking through the streets and alleys of Zhixian, the sound of flowing water seems to tell a thousand-year-old story, endlessly. The water system here is so developed that it resembles a vivid ecological scroll, showing the ancient people's profound understanding of harmonious coexistence with the environment.
Zhixian Reservoir, under the sunshine, sparkles with ripples, a paradise for photography enthusiasts; even on cloudy days, Zhixian shrouded in mist has a mysterious and hazy beauty of its own.
Here, what we seek is not just the scenery, but also a peace of mind and the sediment of history.
The overlooked Zhuge Bagua Village, an ancient village treasure for inlanders
🏡 Zhuge Bagua Village is located in Lanxi City, Jinhua, Zhejiang Province, and is said to be the settlement of Kongming's descendants. Although the locals do not take this seriously, for inlanders, it is filled with the charm of the Jiangnan water towns.
👣 The village covers a vast area with a concentration of ancient buildings and a large number of original residents, and it is not commercialized. On Sunday mornings, the village is quiet and peaceful, and walking through it is like traveling back to the Ming and Qing dynasties.
👵👴 The villagers are very hospitable, and everyone, from the elderly to the children, will enthusiastically give you directions. Here, you don't have to worry about getting lost at all.
🏞 There are many attractions in the village, such as the Chancellor's Ancestral Hall, Tianyi Hall, and Dagong Hall. Although the exhibition facilities are somewhat simple, the charm of the ancient buildings themselves is enough to make one linger.
🌿 The garden and the Herb Garden behind Tianyi Hall are especially recommended as excellent spots for overlooking the village. A casual snapshot here is a beautiful painting.
🌆 It is said that Zhuge Bagua Village is even more beautiful at night, with ancient buildings illuminated by lights, resembling a fairy tale world. I must stay overnight next time to appreciate this dreamlike nightscape.
📸 Every corner of the village, as long as you have an eye for beauty, can produce stunning photos. Whether it's by the pond or in the Herb Garden, it's a paradise for photography enthusiasts.

I got lost in Zhuge Bagua Village
I found Zhuge Bagua Village on the map at noon and decided to drive there to take a look. The highlight of Zhuge Village is the Yin-Yang Tai Chi shaped pool in the center of the village, and the entire village is constructed according to the Bagua layout.
Most villagers have the surname Zhuge, claiming to be descendants of Zhuge Liang, so naturally, there is a temple dedicated to him. Zhuge Liang is revered by the people, and I think it's because of his loyalty, diligence, and integrity. Objectively speaking, Zhuge Liang was in charge of the military affairs of the Shu state and was not good at civil administration. His six expeditions to Qishan also imposed heavy corvée and military service on the common people, but it seems that the people do not mind these. I suddenly remembered the distribution principle of 'efficiency first, with due consideration to fairness' proposed under the market economy system. Perhaps in the traditional Chinese social moral system, what is more advocated is 'fairness first, with due consideration to efficiency'.
The main attractions of Zhuge Bagua Village include Zhong Pool, the Prime Minister's Temple, Dagong Hall, and the Hundred Herbs Ecology Garden, etc. Zhong Pool is the central landmark of the entire village, with eight alleys extending in all directions, leading directly to eight tall earth mounds outside the village, resembling a Bagua diagram from above. The alleys give rise to many transverse interconnected narrow lanes, with thousands of households and many ancient residential buildings scattered like stars in the sky.
Zhuge Bagua Village has undulating terrain, with ancient buildings closely packed and stretching continuously. Residential houses and temples are scattered at different heights, with alleys and lanes crisscrossing, and secluded paths winding through them. Stone carvings, brick carvings, and wood carvings are ingeniously conceived and exquisitely crafted. White walls and grey tiles, flying eaves and upturned corners, small courtyards with corridors, rocks and flowers, and bamboo groves all display the graceful charm of the Suzhou style. The Prime Minister's Temple is majestic and spectacular. The philosophy of 'Admonitions to My Son' enlightens people, and its noble spirit nurtures them. The Bagua formation diagram fully demonstrates the ability and wisdom of the ancestors.
