When it comes to white water rafting in Sabah, most people have heard of the exiciting Kiulu and Padas experiences, but only a select few are in on the thrilling secret of the Kedamaian River rafting in Kota Belud. Its like a hidden gem waiting to be explored! Here we came, having embarked on a weekend adventure with jusy about a 2 hours drive from Kota Kinabalu city. Graded 1-2 and was moderately adventurous and relaxing, spanning about 10 kilometers in length. The water was crystal clear and refreshing cool as its flow from the Mount Kinabalu. Location: Tambatuon Eco Village, Kota Belud, Sabah Almost 3 hours journey from Kota Kinabalu. 5-15 mins to arrive at the homestay. Getting There: 1. Bus - If you're plan to go there by bus, you need to inform the person incharge in advance as buses are only can park at the main bus stop. Then, need to get 4x4 car from the local go to the homestay. 2. Car - Recommended as small vehicle can reach this place. 3. Van - Also recommemded! Attractions: 1. Tubing 2. Hiking 3. Kinabalu Park trails for the explorer!

#wecreate healthy vibes when exploring the great outdoors! If climbing Mt Kinabalu is not for you, consider trekking the trails at Kinabalu Park. There are a variety of trails around the park, some are more challenging than others. The most friendly of them all was Silau-Silau which is mostly flat. Be mindful that the ground can be pretty soft if it has been raining and your shoes will get dirty! 🥹 Kiau View Trail has adequate ascent but is generally still pretty friendly. It crosses path with the Pandanus Trail which also has a little bit of ups and downs. The fresh air is just fantastic! About 2hours drive from Kota Kinabalu if there's no traffic jam or roadwork. Some are might be misty and as reach the place few dogs and cattle would chill out on road so be careful. The river overlooking the majestic view of Mount Kinabalu by 10am plus the mountains would shy away and cover itself with thick clouds. This pace is run by few families and keep place really clean. There's ample of parking space. Now one thing I don't like the river is rocky painful to the feet also the river is very shallow. Weekend is crowded with people. #sabah

Such a gem of Borneo, the entrance fee is 3 ringgit only for adult and visitors can also stay overnight in a camp beside the riverbank with additional fees if they do not bring their own gears. Homestay is also available if you’re not comfortable with camping. The view here is stunningly gorgeous especially early in the morning when the sky is clear.

At first, we hesitated to camp because we will be running the marathon and have no time to enjoy but when we arrived, the view is sooooo worth all the hassle. The mount Kinabalu or known as Akinabalu to the local Sabahans stood majestically and we all were in awe admiring its beauty from a distance. The river is clear as crystal and Rocks that were spread out naturally as a result of mud floods a few years ago are so beautifully spread makes the view breathtaking. A basic accommodation, you can sleep in a tent or in a hut - if in a hut a mattress is spread out and given more pillows and blankets. Cozy and comfortable. If you are in Kota Kinabalu and would like to go on a camping trip, do visit Nahandang Homestay. You will not be disappointed, I promise❣️

Getting There - Either you drive or get a tour package (currently available anywhere). No public transportation available Attractions - Kg Melangkap Tiong (Sg Melangkap), Nabalu Park, Mantanani Island, Tegudon Tourism Village, Bukit Bongol Hotels - Mostly campsites Food & Restaurants - Mostly road side and small cafes Shopping - none I had an amazing 3 day trip in Kota Belud, we rented a campsite space and sleep under the stars for days! You gotta be here to see all this beautiful sceneries.. started of at Kg Melangkap and have you seen a river so clean, clear and blue as the sky? no wonder it attracts lots of people here on daily basis..a fresh dip, in fresh water, cool air and the mejestic mt kinabalu right in front of you. i've always seen it from far away, this mother mountain is huge. We hiked to Bukit Bongol to see the view from the top, nice trail, surrounded by the welcoming sound of the forest. We went to an island nearby and took a dive. Sabah is paradise. Kota Belud has a lot of hiking places and campsites, it also has plenty of instaworthy places with Mount Kinabalu as the background. You could spot paddy fields in many parts of Kota Belud. This time around, my group decided to go on a more relax trip, which doesn't involve hiking. I can't say that we are hardcore when it comes to hiking but we love the challenge. This trip is more about the stars. Tegudon is one of those places that offers nice spots for star gazing, there's other places too like Kudat and Kokol Menggatal. Check out Sabah Star Gazers for any future outings. We also didn't have to wake up early to get to the campsite, left past lunch hour, thank god traffic wasn't bad. The park and campsite are set on the banks of the river. Whether you want a relaxing getaway lazing by the river and sleeping under the stars, or an adventure packed ​day out kayaking down the river and enjoying one of the most amazing suspension bridge in Sabah – there is something here for everyone. #besttrip #urbanexplore
