This bar has been in Menjalara area for decades, it has been change from Overtime > Geographer > Starker. The beer quality is on par as always!
Not to mention, they also have live band performance that allows us to order songs on-the-go to suit your daily mood 🥰
Pro tips: Park at Lotus’s opposite road for free car park and just 2mins walking distance to the bar!
Famous traditional Bak Kut Teh 🥘🥘
📬 3-53A, Jalan Desa 2/1, Desa Aman Puri, 52100 Kuala Lumpur, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur
The traditional Nanyang-style restaurant with old tables and chairs, faded menus, tea stains on the teapot and the aroma of herbs in the room makes guests feel like they are walking into a time tunnel and feel the strong human touch.
The restaurant's menu and cooking style are similar to the main restaurant and it definitely did not disappoint! 👍🏼👍🏼
The dry tea has a slight caramel flavor and is slightly sweet, which is very delicious; the soup tea has a very strong medicinal flavor, and you can add unlimited medicinal soup for free, which is definitely value for money!

MALAYSIANS' COMFORT FOOD!
NASI LEMAK IS THE NATIONAL DISH OF MALAYSIA AND I BET ALMOST EVERY MALAYSIAN KNOWS HOW TO COOK THE FAMOUS NASI LEMAK. WE WERE IN RAWANG TO TRY THE FAMOUS AND TALK ABOUT NASI LEMAK THE FRIENDLY MALAY LADY SELLER OPENS HER ROAD SIDE STALL STARTING FROM 7AM AND WITHIN 1 1/2 TO 2 HOURS ALL HER WRAPPED IN BANANA LEAF NASI LEMAK WILL BE SOLD OUT. PER PACKET IS ONLY RM2.00 WHICH IS VERY CHEAP AND AFFORDABLE WHICH BRING THE LONG QUEUE TO BUY THE NASI LEMAK. I MANAGED TO GRAB 6 PACKETS AFTER STANDING PATIENTLY IN THE LINE FOR HALF HOUR (ARRIVED AT SHARP 7AM). THE RICE ITSELF CAN BE EATEN BY ITSELF, IT ID FLAVOURFUL FROM THE COCONUT MILK PANDAN LEAVES AND BANANA LEAF USED TO WRAPPED THE RICE. THE NOT SO SPICY SAMBAL IKAN BILIS GOES VERY WELL WITH THE RICE .IN FACT, THE SAMBAL COMPLEMENTS THE FRAGRANT RICE. HALF BOILED EGG IS PLACED ON TOP OF THE SAMBAL WHICH WAS LAYERED WITH BANANA LEAF. FRIED PEANUT AND HIGH QUALITY ANCHOVIES ARE ADDED TO THE RICE. SLICES OF CUCUMBER AND STIR FRY WATER SPINACH ARE ALSO ADDED. ALL GOES WELL WITH THE RICE. AFTER FINISHING ALL PACKETS OF THE FABULOUS NASI LEMAK, WE MADE A PLAN TO VISIT THE ROAD STALL THE NEXT DAY.

If you have come to Malaysia-Singapore and have never tried it, I recommend it. It's very delicious. Ice dessert with durian, like cold coconut milk, sweet and creamy durian. Here, it's called ABC. We have to order more durian. If you don't like durian, order the normal one, coconut milk, syrup with toppings, like in our country. Mostly, it's grains and fruit ice dessert.

Endless Choices of Food 😋😋
Chang Cheng 8 Kopitiam, is located at First Residence, opposite Three 33 Residence at Kepong. This is the second branch of Chang Cheng 8 Kopitiam at Kepong.
The shop has many stalls that sell local food.
I was attracted to 2 stalls, one selling economy rice and the other one selling Thai Food
The economy rice offers endless choices of delicious looking vegetables and meats, with average price less than RM10.00 for combo of 1 meat and 2 vegetables.
I like the Pattaya Fried Rice and Tomyam Mee Hoon for the Thai Food stall. The taste is 90% alike as you are taking your meal at Thailand. Average price is RM8.00 per plate.

Delicious food in Kepong
Woow I was not aware that the street food can be so delicious in Kepong, recently I went to some hawker places in Kepong and really liked the food taste. I tried Vegetable fried rice and it was really amazing. It was mixed with plenty of vegetables and the rice quality was good as well. There are many different markets you can visit in Kepong and other places where you can try the street food. Please be selective and try to pick some clean place. I would suggest fried rice as its cooked well in right temperature. You can get some deals and also drinks along with the food. I would suggest to try street food for sure as it gives you a chance to talk to locals and understand the local culture. Looking forward to next adventure soon. Thanks..

The route branches out so you can take many or any one to form your own loop, hilly or flat – the choice is yours. The route takes you around the lake which offers you pretty great views during your run.

From the Outside to the First Bite—Worth It!
#kualalumpurguide
The exterior of Duddells Lewisgene might look simple, but don’t judge too fast—step inside and you’ll be impressed. The vibe changes completely with a modern rustic setup and a coffee bar that looks like it belongs in a coffee competition.
The pistachio waffle caught my eye (and heart), but they also have a full food and drink menu that looks promising. This spot is a great mix of cozy atmosphere and quality food—perfect for café hoppers like me!
Pistachio Dreams at Duddells Kepong
#kualalumpurguide
If you love pistachio desserts, you must try the pistachio waffle at Duddells Lewisgene in Kepong. The waffle was crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, and paired perfectly with a scoop of rich pistachio ice cream. They even serve it with a shot of pistachio sauce that you can drizzle yourself—so satisfying!
The portion was just nice for sharing (or not!). It’s one of those cafés where dessert feels like a real treat and not just a photo op. Definitely worth the trip if you’re a nutty dessert lover!

KL’s Urban Roast Retreat
#kualalumpurtrip
Hidden among the shoplots, Duddell’s Lewisgene looks unassuming from the outside but opens into a vibrant hub of coffee lovers, families, and curious tourists. I dropped by for a slow afternoon and left with a waffle stack drenched in pistachio sauce and joy.
It’s easy to spend hours here — browsing their shelf of specialty beans and durian coffee, admiring the industrial-meets-cozy décor, or people-watching from the corner bar seats. Whether you’re a café hopper or a KL local, this spot deserves a sip and a snap.
From Cold Brew to Cake – KL’s Café Gem!
#kualalumpurtrip
Brunch in KL isn’t complete without trying Duddell’s Lewisgene, where the coffee bar glows with neon blue and shelves are stocked with local drip bags and matcha blends. I had a smooth iced white, and of course, couldn’t resist checking out their cake chiller — classic cheesecakes, layered sponges, and even bottled kombucha calling your name.
It’s not just about food here. The café doubles as a retail nook with durian coffee packs, quirky merch, and even health supplements. Perfect for browsing while your coffee brews. Honestly, one of the more layered café experiences I’ve had in Kuala Lumpur.
A Brewtiful Mess of Quirks and Coffee
#kualalumpurtrip
There’s something oddly comforting about Duddell’s Lewisgene — from the funky “bald dude with coffee” logo to the scattered cat portraits watching you sip. The whole place gives off a friendly, local coffee shop vibe but adds a playful twist to everything, including their seating and lighting.
Their house blend latte was smooth, but the real joy was the pistachio dip that came with my waffles. Add some cozy chaos from the weekend crowd, and you get a spot that’s always buzzing yet never overwhelming. Come alone or with your brunch gang — it’s a KL café stop that guarantees both good coffee and good vibes.
Sake Walls & Soulful Bowls
#kualalumpurtrip
Fujisawa Izakaya became one of my favorite food memories from my Kuala Lumpur trip. The restaurant is cozy and full of character, with wooden accents and shelves of sake that create a warm, welcoming vibe.
My lunch set was thoughtfully prepared, and each bite had that “home-cooked” feeling. The soup was rich, the side dishes were flavorful, and everything came together perfectly on the tray. It’s the kind of place you walk into once—and remember for a long time. If you’re craving comforting Japanese food in KL, don’t miss this little hideout.
Quiet Corners & Quality Japanese Food
#kualalumpurtrip
One of the most peaceful meals I had during my KL trip was at Fujisawa Izakaya. Tucked in a quiet street, this restaurant offers a traditional Japanese setting with warm lighting, sake-lined shelves, and even tatami-style seats.
The lunch set I ordered came with everything I needed—rice, soup, a flavorful main dish, and fresh vegetables. Each bite felt nourishing and thoughtful. It wasn’t loud or flashy, but the meal left me feeling full and calm. A perfect stop if you're in the city and need a little break with good, honest Japanese cooking.
Authentic Japanese Lunch in the Heart of KL
#kualalumpurtrip
While exploring KL, I stopped by Fujisawa Izakaya for lunch, and it was like being transported to a small izakaya in Japan. The sake bottles lined the walls, the Japanese flag hung above, and the quiet vibe was perfect for a mid-day break.
My lunch set was simple but delicious—rice, soup, a few side dishes, and a juicy main course. Every item was prepared with care, and I could taste the effort in each bite. It’s a great spot for anyone craving authentic Japanese comfort food without flying to Japan!
