The journey from Ganzhou takes around 2–3 hours. I wanted to visit a hot spring, so I chose Rongyuan Hot Spring, which is included in the annual travel pass. The hot spring is located at the foot of Wugong Mountain, on the border of Yichun and Ji'an. There are a few pools and not many people, so it's a good place to visit if you're in the area. The hot spring opens at 2 pm, so I set off at 11 am and left for Ji'an at 4 pm. ✅ First stop: Lao San Private Kitchen (a must-visit) Recommendation: The food is delicious and the restaurant is very popular. It's a food stall, but the food is so good that you can ignore the environment. I want to go back just for this meal. Around CNY 50 per person. ✅ Second stop: Luling Ji Tea Recommendation: This is Ji'an's own version of Chayanyuese. It's very photogenic, but there aren't many stores. I recommend getting a drink when you visit Nengren Lane. Around CNY 13 per drink. ✅ Third stop: Xu Ji Lobster Recommendation: They serve stir-fried dishes, barbecue, and crayfish. It was founded by Jiang Wanli, the governor of Jizhou, in the first year of Chunyou in the Southern Song Dynasty (1241). When the academy was built on Bailuzhou Island in the Song Dynasty, it was named "Bailuzhou Academy" after the island. Bailuzhou Academy played a leading role at that time, and thousands of academies were established and prospered in the urban and rural areas of Jizhou County. In the fourth year of Baoyou in the Southern Song Dynasty (1256), 39 people from Bailuzhou Academy passed the imperial examination, and Wen Tianxiang became the top scholar. Emperor Lizong of the Song Dynasty personally bestowed the plaque of "Bailuzhou Academy" and hung it on the gate of the academy. On an early autumn morning, I drove 15 km from my hotel, Ji'an Grandland International Hotel, to Qingyuan Mountain Scenic Area in the southeast direction of the city. I arrived at the scenic area parking lot in 30 minutes. On a Monday morning, the empty parking lot was deserted. I entered the free scenic area alone and enjoyed the fresh air and serene mountain scenery of early autumn. "Qingyuan Mountain is high in the clouds, and the Luo River is free of dust." Qingyuan Mountain, known as the "No. 1 Scenic Spot in Jiangxi", is only 320 meters above sea level and is composed of many small mountain peaks, including Elephant Trunk Peak, Lion Peak, Jade Belt Peak, Emerald Screen Peak, and Camel Peak. The mountain is lush with trees, with emerald pools and waterfalls, and winding paths, making it a beautiful sight. After walking for about ten minutes from the entrance of the scenic area, I arrived at the "Zu Guan" of Jingju Temple. In the first year of the Shenlong era of the Tang Dynasty (705 AD), the Zen master Xingsi, a disciple of the Sixth Patriarch of Zen Buddhism, built a temple here, initially named "An'yin Temple", and changed to Jingju Temple in the fourth year of the Chongning era of the Song Dynasty (1105 AD). Although he only served in Luling for half a year, he was highly respected by people from all walks of life. The "Learning of Conscience" was proposed by him when he gave lectures at the Qingyuan Mountain Guild Hall with Zou Shouyi (from Anfu, Ji'an). Wang Yangming's lectures at Qingyuan Mountain laid the foundation for the development of Jiangyou philosophy, and Luling was known as the "Land of Rationalism". Since the Tang Dynasty, it has been a popular scenic spot for literati and scholars. To this day, there are inscriptions left by Du Fu, Yan Zhenqing, Su Shi, Huang Tingjian, Wen Tianxiang, Li Gang, Zhou Bida, Hu Quan, Xie Jin, Yang Shiqi, and others. Due to the itinerary arrangement, I did not continue to climb the mountain. In just 90 minutes, I visited the "Sudden Enlightenment Zen" of Master Xingsi and the "Learning of Conscience" of Mr. Wang Yangming, and learned about the brilliant Luling culture. After returning to the hotel in a hurry, I left Ji'an.

On the sixteenth day of the fifth month of the Jia Chen year in the lunar calendar, I arrived at Ji'an Railway Station during the hour of Mao. Today is the summer solstice. Ji'an, Jiangxi, anciently known as 'Luling' and 'Jizhou', is located in the south of the Yangtze River. Here, there are shared electric bicycles, which I am pleased to find. I went to the east bank of the Gan River, where the sky was tinged with a faint blue-green, giving a sense of freshness. The river is wide, but the current is also swift. On the riverbank, people were already exercising in the morning. I found a noodle shop that was open and had a bowl of scallion oil dry noodles to relieve the fatigue of the journey. It was still early, so I rode an electric bike around the old town, admiring Ji'an as the true south of the Yangtze River. At the hour of Chen, I took a bus to Qingqingyuan Mountain, which is located more than twenty li to the east of the city and was praised by the famous Southern Song poet Yang Wanli as 'the number one scenic spot in Jiangxi'. When I reached the foot of the mountain, I returned to the starting point of the climb, and a bowl of cold noodles by the roadside was truly refreshing. I took the bus back to the city center, and by noon, I was ravenous. I had a late breakfast of soy milk, fried dough sticks, and stir-fried rice noodles on the street, then went to 'Bailuzhou Academy', which was very worthwhile. After visiting the academy, I rode a small electric bike around the city for a while, then went to the train station and bid farewell to Luling. The Ji Zhou Famous Kiln hall is designed like a simulated kiln cave, making visitors feel as if they are on the scene, understanding the ancient craft of making Ji Zhou porcelain, and admiring the spirit of the craftsmen at that time. The exhibited Ji Zhou kiln porcelain includes non-heritage techniques such as wood leaf applique, which are very exquisite. The Jiangnan Wangjun exhibition shows the prosperity and rich cultural atmosphere of ancient Lu Ling. The affluent Jiangnan Wangjun and the nearly three thousand Lu Ling talents shine brightly together, truly a place where outstanding people and the spirit of the land coexist. Wen Tianxiang, Ouyang Xiu, Yang Wanli, and Xie Jin were all from Lu Ling, and talents emerged in various fields such as politics, literature, arts, and military. If time allows, one can deeply explore here and I believe there will be much to gain.
