I didn’t expect to feel a strong lively atmosphere as soon as I arrived at the roundabout. The whole place was full of energy. The coffee shops around the roundabout were full of young people, who gathered together to chat and drink coffee, looking very relaxed. Also, the Merapi Volcano, which many people list as a must-see in their lifetime, can be experienced in Yogyakarta, the volcano kingdom~ Merapi Volcano is Indonesia’s most active volcano and is truly spectacular! The nearby Merbabu Volcano is relatively safer, perfect for stargazing, camping~ waiting for the sunrise, and at the same time, you can see the four most famous volcanoes in Central Java, which is simply amazing! For traveling in Yogyakarta, I highly recommend not missing this great value hotel in the city center, the Yogyakarta Tentrem Hotel. When we arrived at the hotel lobby, there were Javanese artists playing the piano and singing, creating a wonderful atmosphere! On the hotel’s celebrity wall, you can see many famous stars who have stayed here. The hotel’s facilities are excellent~ I also highly recommend the pool and spa. At the end of the hotel pool is a bamboo forest~ swimming there feels like seeing the water’s end connecting with the gently swaying bamboo leaves, creating a heroic vibe like in the movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon~ Swimming, soaking, sauna, and getting an essential oil massage at the hotel is a perfect way to relax for the day before starting local exploration. The hotel offers a variety of colorful activities every day. Besides going out to visit ancient sites and enjoy natural scenery, we also participated in the hotel’s batik dyeing experience~ a very fun experience.

The opposite Mount Merbabu is relatively safer, perfect for stargazing, camping, waiting for sunrise, and viewing the four most famous volcanoes in Central Java—an incredible value! One of the four ancient local wonders, Borobudur, and Indonesia’s largest Hindu temple, Prambanan, are two cultural heritage sites built in the 8th-9th centuries that are absolute must-visits when in Yogyakarta! Also～ the hotels in Yogyakarta offer great value. We stayed at the Yogyakarta Tentrem Hotel in the city center this time, and it was excellent! Looking at the hotel’s celebrity wall, you’ll find many famous stars have stayed here, and of course, we didn’t miss out! I highly recommend not missing the hotel’s pool and spa—swimming, soaking in the bath, sauna, and an essential oil massage to fully relax for the day!

Visiting Tugu Yogyakarta at night was truly a magical experience! The monument is beautifully lit up, creating a captivating atmosphere. It's a fantastic spot for photos and to soak in the local vibe. The surrounding area is lively, making it a perfect evening stroll. Highly recommend seeing it after dark!

accidentally found this cafe while walking around #Jogjakarta, and it turned out to be that cool! The outdoor area is really pretty, there's also an upper floor. No exaggeration~ The Summer Palace at Yogyakarta Tentrem Hotel is absolutely the best in town because I have already tried the Chinese cuisine at all the luxury hotels in Yogyakarta. The roast duck and steamed grouper at Summer Palace are especially delicious~ amazing! Besides the exquisite and tasty lunch and dinner, the hotel's dim sum is definitely a blessing for dim sum lovers! The Sunday dim sum buffet, including tea charges and taxes, costs about 100 RMB per person, and you can eat from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., but dim sum is only available on Sundays. After eating and drinking to your heart's content, of course, you have to go out and explore. I recommend what I think are the most worthwhile places to visit near downtown Yogyakarta: Prambanan Temple is a large Hindu temple complex built in the 9th century. It is also a famous world cultural heritage site in Yogyakarta and the largest Hindu temple in Indonesia. It has suffered damage from multiple volcanic eruptions and earthquakes~ there are about fifty temple ruins remaining. Prambanan was built around the same time as Angkor Wat in Cambodia, and there are many similarities in architectural style and sculptural themes. The walls of Prambanan are covered with exquisite bas-reliefs, mostly depicting scenes from the Indian epic Ramayana~ Compared to Angkor Wat, although they tell the same story, the artistic style and character images are quite different. Three weekly performances of the Ramayana are regularly held in front of Prambanan Temple~ I have watched the Ramayana many times in India and Southeast Asian countries, but only in front of the thousand-year-old Prambanan Temple does it feel most atmospheric. Prambanan is sacred and magical after nightfall! Eight years ago, the performance was moved indoors due to rain~ this time I finally made up for that regret.
