Eastern Izu Day Trip Guide
1. Scenic Spot Features
🎈 Oshima
After the eruption of Oshima about 4,000 years ago, a gap was left in the center, and the top of the mountain, which resembles a matcha cake, is stunning. This is a location for the film "Your Name", and it's a great place to take photos.
- After climbing the mountain, you can buy a rice dumpling and eat it while walking. From the top of the mountain, you can overlook the entire eastern Izu, and the view of the blue and green is breathtaking.
- Cable car tickets and opening hours: Adults 550 yen, children 250 yen. March - September 9:00 - 17:00, October - February 9:00 - 16:00. The cable car takes six minutes to reach the top, and there is a photo shoot on the way. You can purchase the photo for 1200 yen.
🎈 Cactus Zoo
Located opposite Oshima, it is a semi-open park where you can get close to small animals. Among them, capybaras are super popular.
- Tickets and opening hours: 2800 yen/adult, 90% off with Oshima ticket. Opening hours are 9:00 - 17:00.
- Featured performances: Animal behavior performances, monkeys, dogs, parrots, etc. will perform various interesting behaviors. Small animals show off their unique skills and cuteness, and visitors can also see fun performances of humans and animals. In winter, there is also a capybara winter hot spring performance. From late November to early April, capybaras will take a hot spring in an open-air hot spring pool. Some lunar festivals will also be arranged to take a hot spring with grapefruit and apple, which will become a winter feature.
🎈 Kinosaki Coast
The lava that flowed out of Oshima's eruption formed strangely shaped reefs.
- Route: There are two routes to get there, a walking route and a forest route. The forest route takes 15 minutes to reach, and the downhill return is more energy-saving.
- Scenery: The blue sea and sky along the coast are breathtaking. Admission is free, and it is recommended to visit for about 1 hour.
- Kadowaki Suspension Bridge: The suspension bridge is 48m long and 23m high. The sea is rough under your feet, and the view from the bridge is magnificent. It is very popular for photos.
🎈 Atami Castle
Atami Castle has 6 floors, the highest of which is the Tenshukaku, which is mainly used for sightseeing. Take the cable car to reach the top of Mt. Hakone, and from Atami Castle, you can have a 360-degree view of the entire coastal city. Atami Castle is also the best place to watch the Atami Sea Fireworks Festival.
- Tickets and cable car prices: Tickets 1100 yen, cable car one-way ticket 400 yen.
2. Transportation Route
From Tokyo, take the JR Shinkansen for about 45 minutes to Atami, then transfer to the "Ito Line" to "Izukogen Station". After getting off, purchase an Izu Kogen Station bus pass for 800 yen. Take bus 170/172 to Izukogen Cactus Zoo Station, and take the cable car up and down Oshima (only cash). Take bus 180 from the foot of Oshima to "Izumi Ocean Park Station", and walk 15 minutes to Kinosaki Coast.
3. Itinerary Suggestion
11:00 - 13:00: Visit Oshima in "Your Name".
13:10 - 14:40: Go to the Cactus Zoo to see the capybaras.
15:00 - 16:00: Check in at Kadowaki Suspension Bridge and Kinosaki Coast.
16:10: Return to Tokyo, arrive at 19:30.
4. Small Suggestions
1. Buy a pass for the Izu Kyuko Line (1/2/3day pass) at Ito Station, and a bus pass for one day at Izukogen Station to save money and time.
2. Show your bus pass when purchasing cable car tickets at Oshima to enjoy a discount.
3. Choose the forest route when returning from Kinosaki Coast, as there are more downhill slopes, which are more energy-saving.
4. Remember to avoid Google Maps when navigating, and directly locate the Kinosaki Coast parking lot for convenience and speed.
Japan's black volcanic beach ⛱️ 🌋
#timetotravel
I visited Ito Beach in Japan last October and I had a wonderful time. Here is my review of this beautiful destination.
Ito Beach is located in Ito, a famous hot spring resort town on the eastern coast of the Izu Peninsula. It is easily accessible from Tokyo by train, and it offers a variety of attractions and activities for visitors. I stayed at K's House Ito Onsen, a historic ryokan hostel that has communal and private hot spring baths. The hostel was very cozy and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I enjoyed soaking in the hot springs and relaxing in the lounge areas.
Another thing that I loved about Ito Beach was the food. There are many restaurants and cafes that serve delicious local cuisine, such as seafood, noodles, and sweets. I especially liked the sashimi donburi, a rice bowl topped with fresh raw fish. It was very fresh and flavorful, and it came with miso soup and pickles. I also tried some of the specialty desserts, such as orange soft serve ice cream and orange chiffon cake. They were very refreshing and sweet, and they used local oranges from the area.
Ito Beach is a great place to visit for anyone who loves nature, hot springs, and food. It has something for everyone, and it is not too crowded or touristy. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a relaxing and enjoyable getaway in Japan.
Shizuoka's popular check-in attraction📸 Komuroyama's incomparable sea view and mountain view
Sakura girl photo hotspot, Komuroyama cafe 321
The cable car going up and down the mountain is the kind of single-leg fling fling, the round trip fee is 800 yen per person, up to the top of the mountain, the range of activities is not very large, but the field of view is very wide. Unfortunately, it was cloudy on the day of my visit and I couldn't see Mount Fuji, but the cloudy blue sky was beautiful to take pictures. Looking out from the observation deck, you can not only see the endless sea, but also Omuro Mountain in the distance. It feels very comfortable.
The photo hotspot belongs to the scope of coffee shops, must help, to go to the glass bridge to take pictures, coffee shops only have hot soup or drinks to choose from, the price is expensive. Personally, the environment and landscape are good, and the quality of drinks is acceptable. If you pass by and do not need to rush your trip, you can choose to go up and enjoy a cup of coffee and take a picture😆

Last Year's Grand Illumination in Shizuoka
From November 11, 2022 until August 2023, Izu Granpal Park in Shizuoka Prefecture will host the 8th Izu Kogen Grand Illumination event! The Izu Kogen Grand Illumination was ranked #1 in the Walker+National Illumination Ranking for six consecutive years and is beloved by visitors of all ages. This isn’t just a collection of pretty lights–the Grand Illumination also includes a number of hands-on experiences for everyone to enjoy. In 2021, the event won first place in the Ninth Illumination Awards for the second year in a row. Known as Japan’s first ‘hands-on illumination experience,’ the park has continued to evolve year after year, adding more attractions and finding its unique style. These attractions include a zip line through the lights, Dinosaur Go-Karts, and more.
Don't miss this year's illumination!

Inmerse yourself in a Seaview train!!
Remember this name The Black Ship train 🛳 🖤🚉
Is a special train that runs in the Itō line in Japan and it has seats facing the sea shore, the view is expectscular and people take this trip to go around the Itō line
From Atami all the way down to Izu
This area has a lot of Onsen public and private ones, beautiful hikes, a death volcano, a Rocky mountain by the sea, black sand beaches, some famous restaurants and even a Don Quijote Mega at Itō.
The road can be explored in a weekend trip or several days, I would recoend ay least 2-3 days to go around the area and then back to Atami in whrere it connects to the rest of Japan

K's House Ito Onsen is by far the best staycation I've ever had. It is a century-old Ryokan located in Ito City in the Izu Peninsula, Shizuoka. It is very traditional that I felt like I time-traveled back to the 1890s. They also have a state-of-the-art Onsen facility. They have the best view of the river and the pine trees by their terraces sends you a very relaxing feeling in the morning. Totally a recommended stay!

Izu cactus zoo
The capybara hot springs can be seen in the summer and you can touch and play. From Tokyo to here, about 2-3hours
There are a lot of strange animals in the zoo that have never been seen before. Stupid and cute, there are more animals than people. The niche zoo In addition to the animals, there are different varieties of cactus in the whole garden, backed by the famous matcha pots, some of the mountains, some have a look
PS Japan clean zoo is too clean, not stinky and hygienic , I feel good to double
Izu Kogen Station to buy tickets cheaper than the ticket shop window, 2000 yen
Time: 9

in the Cactus Zoo in Izu, Icheon, Japan, there is such a super cute animal restaurant, starting from the restaurant Full of eyes are fluffy toys. Each table has a large capybara doll, and you can share the food with you on the table. The little monkeys hanging on the green vines, the colorful parrots, the giraffes and tigers standing behind them, this is a small animal world, and the children are crazy!
Recommended food:
1. Smiley puffer fish beef burger + French fries + salad
2. Duckling mashed potato omelet + cola cake
3. Flamingo curry rice

I love Omuroyama, the inspiration for the movie "Your Name," more than Mount Fuji.
I finally saw the Omuroyama I had been dreaming of.
You can look down at the sea from the top of the mountain, and the view is breathtaking.
On a clear day, the view is more beautiful than what a camera can capture.
Hoshino KAI Hotel.
Izu|A seaside hotel - Hoshino KAI (with hot springs♨️|||I've been wanting to stay at a Hoshino Resort hotel for a long time! I finally got the chance to check in at my first one in Ito~~ It was a great experience! This Hoshino Resort hotel is themed around sailing, and both the public areas and rooms are full of nautical elements. The hotel is located in Ito City, about a 5-minute taxi ride from the station. If you don't like the various Japanese-style hot spring hotels in Izu, Hoshino KAI is also a great choice!
-
The room is quite large and well laid out, with a floor-to-ceiling window facing the sea, perfect for reading a book or relaxing. The hotel doesn't have private baths, but there are indoor and outdoor public baths on the top floor, which are clean and comfortable. We only stayed for one night and went twice, and there weren't many people there, so it was very comfortable and refreshing! In the evening, there is a small documentary about the history of sailing in the hotel lobby. The front desk staff speak good English and can help you call a taxi.
-
Ito is a very quiet little city, in stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of Tokyo, and there are very few young people on the streets. We took a quick stroll around and then went to Shuzenji. There are buses near the hotel, but you have to check the schedule carefully, as you'll have to wait a long time if you miss one.
-
After staying at a traditional Japanese hot spring hotel in Izu, I still prefer the comfort of Hoshino Resort, which is also very cost-effective. I highly recommend it!
I came to Ito just for this hot spring hotel.
In a word: This is the perfect place to slow down and enjoy life!
[About the environment]
As soon as you step into the hotel, you feel like you have entered a quiet Japanese painting. The traditional wooden building gives off a faint woody fragrance, and the soft lights in the corridor create a warm and quiet atmosphere.
📍 The hotel is conveniently located, just a 10-minute walk from JR Ito Station, which saves a lot of time.
There is a supermarket on the way, so it is very convenient to buy some daily necessities and snacks (the hotel does not provide disposable toothbrushes and combs, so you can bring your own or buy them yourself).
[About the room]
There are rooms with private baths and rooms without, as well as public baths (I personally recommend trying the Japanese public bath, which is more comfortable than the private bath 😌).
The tatami mats in the room are clean and tidy, and I was worried that the Japanese-style bed would be uncomfortable, but it was very comfortable. From the window of the room, you can see the beautiful garden view 🌲.
We stayed in a "Standard Japanese Room", and although we had to make the bed ourselves, it was a great way to experience Japanese life. On the day we went, there was a small fireworks show by the sea, which was very lively.
[About the hot spring]
Ito hot spring is famous for its water quality and is one of the three major hot spring resorts in Japan. Soaking in the hot spring, the warm water wraps around your body, and all the fatigue and stress disappear. The men's and women's baths are switched every day, so I recommend staying for 2 days to experience the different atmospheres. After soaking, drink a bottle of local milk from the vending machine, and you will feel very happy.
[About the service]
The service in Japan really makes you feel cared for. There are Chinese-speaking staff at the front desk, so you don't have to worry about language barriers. There are many delicious foods nearby, and we asked the staff for recommendations, and they enthusiastically recommended a nearby barbecue restaurant.

Oomuroyama tourist attraction.
Visited Izu and checked in at Oomuroyama❗It's really as beautiful as in the comics, but it's not worth a special trip✅
1️⃣The queue for the cable car was long but moved quickly, about 20 minutes.
2️⃣Ladies, bring water, it's hot and you'll sweat a lot!
3️⃣It takes about 20 minutes to walk around the top of the mountain. The view from the top is really beautiful, like a huge matcha ice cream, very easy on the eyes.
Mount Omuro, Izu | Japan's Matcha Mountain.
🏔️ Mount Omuro | Break into Miyazaki Hayao's Matcha Summer🍃 Use one day to see the mountains and sea of Izu ||💯 Mount Omuro, Izu Nanny Guide, 💬 Many recommendations from [Ito Station] to get off, but the bus ride to Mount Omuro takes about 1 hour, I personally prefer a shorter bus ride, so I chose to go back and forth from [Izukogen Station], at the same time [Ito Station] There are many tourists who get off, and there will be fewer people at [Izukogen Station].
It is highly recommended to visit on [working days], there are many people on weekends, and everyone doesn't want to queue wherever they go⁉️
🏃🏻 Hiking a circle + taking photos + rest basically takes about 1 hour (don't believe the special forces guide, 20 minutes is really not enough), I personally think Mount Omuro is worth a visit, of course, if the weather is bad (🌫️ rainy and foggy days/windy days🌪️) the experience may be different, it is recommended to check the weather in advance, try to choose ☀️ sunny/cloudy🌤️ weather to go.
Mount Omuro⛰️The prototype scene of the meteorite crater in Makoto Shinkai's "Your Name", the title of Matcha Pudding Mountain can be said to be completely appropriate. The beautiful and dreamy Mount Omuro on a sunny day, the back of the mountain is the boundless blue sky and sea and Kizaki Coast, the cable car ride up the mountain is about 1 kilometer without going around a week, it is enough to visit for an hour, stop anywhere is a beautiful frame in the movie.
🥲 Hiking a circle around Mount Omuro is not all flat, it is a bit tiring to walk a circle, especially a slope like climbing the Great Wall. But standing on the top of the mountain and looking at the sea of Izu in the distance, even the weather is good to see Mount Fuji, plus a little breeze on the mountain, everything is worth it. Photos can't really capture the beauty of Mount Omuro (need aerial photography angle), absolutely not as shocking as you personally standing on it.
🍡Finally, you can try the skewered dumplings at the entrance, which are very delicious and not hard or stiff, they are as soft and glutinous as Ningbo rice cakes, I personally like them.🎀
Happy feet guaranteed when you shop here!🇫🇷

Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy a quiet time in the secluded Izu.
🌸Between prosperity and tranquility, meet the paradise in your heart🌸
When the world becomes busy and noisy, the desire for tranquility in the heart becomes stronger🐾. I found this pure land hidden behind the noise, like a solitary pearl, shining with a unique light✨.
This hotel is a sister hotel of Hakone Kowakien Hotel, located in the embrace of Izu, and is a rare place in this area with a courtyard hot spring. Here, every detail reveals the delicacy and elegance of Japanese Zen🍁.
The layout of the dry landscape, every grain of sand is carefully placed, like a perfect combination of nature and art. When the breeze blows gently, the fine sand makes a melodious sound, they seem to be whispering, telling the silence and wisdom of the years👂🏻.
When night falls, under the dim light, a pool of natural hot springs emits a soft steam, which is as charming as a dream🌙. Close your eyes, as if you can hear the sound of cherry blossoms falling, feel the pulse of the earth, at this moment, time seems to stop, let people indulge in this pure land🍃.
📝This is not only a stop on the journey, but also a baptism of the soul. The service of the Japanese hotel is displayed in every detail, making people feel unprecedented respect and warmth. In the secluded Izu, what you experience is not only the nourishment of the hot spring, but also the home of the soul.

Shizuoka, a small city at the foot of Mount Fuji in Japan, is so much fun!!
When you come to Japan, you must not miss this small city - Shizuoka. Shizuoka not only has the magnificent Mount Fuji, but also beautiful beaches and hot springs. It is an ideal tourist destination and worth your visit!!
🚇Transportation: It only takes 90 minutes to reach Shizuoka by Shinkansen from Tokyo and Osaka, and the transportation is very convenient.
🍃Recommended must-visit attractions:
✔Mount Fuji World Heritage Center
Here you can not only enjoy the panoramic view of Mount Fuji🍃, but also the inverted Fuji building designed by Ban Shigeru, which is comparable to the giant red torii of the Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha Shrine, and it is magical and shocking.
✔Atami Sun Beach
Located in the eastern part of Shizuoka Prefecture, it is a good place to relax. Here you can enjoy the sun and beach, and feel the tranquility of the sea.
✔Izu Cactus Park
If you like animals, this is a good choice, and it is also suitable for taking children. There are various cacti and succulent plants🌿 in the park, as well as cute little animals.
✔Kisaki Coast
The steep cliffs are ria coasts formed by the cooling of lava flowing out during the eruption of Amagi Mountain and Omuro Mountain. You can overlook the Izu Islands such as Oshima🏝. The scenery here is picturesque and it is an ideal place to take wedding photos. Walking on the romantic path and admiring the spectacular scenery will definitely make you linger.
In addition to the beautiful scenery, the food in Shizuoka is also not to be missed. In Yaizu City, you can taste fresh seafood🦀; and in Fujieda City, you can drink authentic Gyokuro tea.
Recommended Izu hot spring hotels.
On this trip, I stayed at two different hot spring hotels. One was the Kamenoi Hotel (P7-P15) located on the Izu Plateau. The hotel is new, the lobby is beautiful and photogenic, and the standard rooms are not Japanese-style. The room view is average. The breakfast is buffet-style, and the dinner is kaiseki cuisine, but to be honest, the taste is average. The hotel's lobby bar offers free ice cream, and the restaurant offers late-night ramen. I didn't try it because I was too full. There is an open-air hot spring, but the pool is small and there are many Chinese people. The most healing moment was after soaking in the hot spring, lying on a lounge chair outside the hotel lobby and admiring the moon. I lay there quietly for an hour, watching the moon shuttle through the clouds. I think I will remember this moment for a long time. The other hotel is Atami Onsen Tsutaya (P1-P6). The rooms are standard Japanese-style tatami rooms. Compared to Kamenoi, it is older, but it is still very well maintained. The room has a great sea view. As soon as we entered the room, we started to wow. We could stay in the room all day. The front desk provides beautiful yukatas, and the open-air hot spring pool is also super awesome. There was no one when we went, it was a private bath, and the design was very tasteful. The hot spring pool that needs to be reserved and paid for is not expensive. And! The dinner and breakfast are super awesome, very delicious, Izu specialty alfonsino, abalone, sashimi, raw beef, etc. are all arranged. After eating, I had a cup of coffee in the lobby on the first floor, it was perfect. In this hotel, we really didn't think of taking pictures, because we were just in a daze, it was so comfortable! Both hotels are awesome, but if I recommend it, Atami Onsen Tsutaya is more authentic and more Japanese. I started to miss it as soon as I left.
The beauty of Izu really exceeded expectations, and it was a perfect sunny journey. I will come again

Hidden Hot Springs in Tokyo: The Secret Private Hot Springs of Akazawa Onsen Hotel.
How can you come to Tokyo and not soak in a hot spring?! This time I found an amazing hot spring hotel, so niche that you may not have heard of it, but it has a very high rating among those in the know! This hotel is hidden in the mountains of Izu. We chartered a car from Tokyo and it took us a full three hours to get there, but the scenery along the way was so beautiful that it made my heart drunk! We also passed by the filming location of "Your Name", Omuroyama, but unfortunately the weather was not good, it was so hot that I almost had heatstroke, so I didn't climb the mountain. 🔥
The hotel is called Akazawa Onsen Hotel. As soon as we arrived, the atmosphere was full! Super quiet, super relaxing, traditional Japanese style. However, English is not very good here, fortunately the driver turned into a translator, helping us to communicate clearly. 👨💼
The hotel includes breakfast and dinner. Every day, I wear a yukata, go to eat, take a walk around, and life is so comfortable! The service is also impeccable. Because I am pregnant and need to control my sugar intake, I can't eat rice. The hotel's sister kindly asked the chef to replace all my rice with konjac noodles. The taste is so good that I doubt my life! 🥗
The highlight is here! The hot spring of this hotel is 100% deep sea deep water. The private hot spring pool in each room is kept at a constant temperature 24 hours a day, and it is no problem to soak five people. There is also a super large public bath downstairs. The whole hotel is like a small resort, belonging to DHC. We stayed at Akazawa Onsen Hotel, and there are also DHC Direct Store and Akazawa Onsen Hotel. The latter can see the sea view, bathing by the sea, it's beautiful! Unfortunately, I can only soak my feet, but the hot spring in my own hotel has already satisfied me! 🏖
Finally, I will attach a beautiful picture from the hotel's official website. You can feel the beautiful sea view by yourself! The last picture is the seaside hot spring in my dream. Although I didn't experience it personally, it's so beautiful just to imagine it! 🌊
Cute Capybaras at the Foot of Omuroyama
After visiting Omuroyama, you can head to the Cactus Animal Park at the foot of the mountain. The entrance fee is 2700 yen on weekdays and 2800 yen on holidays. If you have an Omuroyama cable car ticket or a 1-day or 2-day Ito bus pass, you can get a 200 yen discount.
The zoo not only has various types of cacti but also adorable animals like desert foxes, alpacas🦙, prairie dogs, and the ever-popular capybaras! There are so many of them! Due to the hot weather, these top stars are lazily lying on the ground, and you can pet them as you like! For just 100 yen, you can buy feed and feed them to your heart's content! They are super cute😘😘.
From November to April each year, there is a special event where capybaras take yuzu baths. Although it wasn't the special season when I visited, the gift shop had plush toys to 'quench my thirst.'
