Last year, I joined a tour group to Halong Bay in Hanoi. At that time, I planned to stay in Hanoi's Old Quarter. I love its hustle and bustle and leisure. The most important thing for a staycation is to choose a good accommodation. This time I chose a youth hostel as my accommodation. I am not afraid of noise or heat, so I chose Hanoi Solo Youth Hostel. This youth hostel is new, within a 5-minute walk from the night market, with many bars and late-night snacks, it is very lively, you can boil hot water for making tea, the lazy bones in the public area are very comfortable to lie on, the service staff are great, and the air-conditioning in the room is cool enough. When I have experienced youth hostels with cold air-conditioning, this new and cool youth hostel is great! The breakfast in the youth hostel is great and rich. With such breakfast at such a high price, I doubt whether the youth hostel can make money? All in all, except for the lively rock music at night, everything else is great value. The dumpling noodles near the accommodation are delicious at NT$55,000~ The coconut coffee is delicious~ On the day of check-out, I had to go to the airport. There was a No. 17 bus that took me to the airport in 4 minutes on foot. It was only NT$9,000, which was much cheaper than the No. 86 bus at NT$45,000. It arrived only 20 minutes later. If you have a small suitcase, you should choose a closer and cheaper bus. The daytime, sunset and night views of Hoan Kiem Lake are all beautiful, just as I expected. #Hoan Kiem Lake

I just wanted to share a bit of my experience during my first visit to Hanoi, Vietnam during Tet. I didn’t intend on visiting during Tet, my birthday just fell around that time, but it was a very fun experience. What’s open: 90% of the places I wanted to check out were open, some places only had Tet menus/prices, but most were regular service and pricing. You are bound to find places to eat and dine. It was rarely quiet, except the morning after Tet. The roads were still filled with people and traffic, vendors and shops were still open. Even the clubs/bars/restaurants I went to were still filled with tourists/locals, but not so overcrowded. The lake and the city still had so many crowds of locals visiting temples, taking selfies and gathering with their families. None of the previous posts from people who said that most things would be closed and it’s not a good time to visit did not live up to my experience. It was an amazing culture experience to not only see explore the city but see its celebration of the new year. The decor is changed depending on each occasion and event, very new. I experienced acrylic painting at OUR and it was an interesting experience. The tools and aprons are fully set up. During the painting process, there were always instructors following closely. The day I learned to paint, there were also 2 other people who were quite funny, so the atmosphere was very pleasant and fun. The experience price is 399k/person, including framing and taking home. I tried the croissant and it was very delicious, the new bread was hot and crispy with a fragrant butter flavor. The parking area is spacious, with a place to park cars. One thing to note is that the toilet is separate and you need to ask the staff for instructions and to get the key to go to the toilet.

Thang Long Water Puppet Theater in Hanoi Water puppetry is a unique art form, just like Taiwan's national treasure, the Taiwanese opera. You must come and see it with your own eyes. The text in my daughter’s second grade Chinese textbook also talks about water puppets. I must bring my daughter to experience it for herself. Reading thousands of books and traveling thousands of miles are both necessary😊. It is more meaningful to come and see it on the first day of the new year on 2024/1/1. There are really a lot of people. The show starts in the afternoon but the tickets are only for the evening show. I sincerely recommend buying tickets early during the long holidays because Klook does not sell tickets during the long holidays😅!
